The pastries were okay. I was disappointed given how many times I see it being recommended. After trying it, my hunch is that there aren't many other places in Edinburgh that make pastries? Definitely don't wait in line if there are more than 10 people in it. When we went, there were 6 people in front of us and it went by fairly quickly - about 7-8 minutes. I got the cruffin and morning bun, both not bad, just fine.

One of the places with the best view in Edinburgh. People literally compete to grab the corner seats by the window. Sure, the view is beautiful, but nothing should overshadow the amazing coffee and the bakery items that make you want to eat the entire counter. In my 42 years of life, I've never had a cinnamon bun this good anywhere in the world. I think I'll spend the rest of my life searching for this exact flavor again. The Milkman will stay in my memory just as vividly as Edinburgh itself.

obviously, as a coffee lover, I had to try this place because it is high on everyone's list of recommendations. Everything was great. I had a latte which was good, not my favorite, but definitely drinkable. The pastries were amazing, and I had an almond croissant, which definitely was the highlight of this stop.

Friendly service, great coffees and perfectly baked sweet treats! Smaller inside than I thought from other pics.almond croissant and flat white highly recommend.

Cappuccino was delicious. Service: friendly staff, welcoming the moment you walk in. Ambience: quaint and cozy, this location is very limited on space on the inside. If you're early before the rush you may be able to grab a seat. When weather permits it's nice to sit on the outside.

It was a suggestion by 2 locals and glad we stopped by! The shop is cozy and Welcoming but pretty small. During peak times you will find a line out the door, but if you are patient the coffee is worth it. I always visit local coffee shops while I travel and the Milkman was no disappointment. They have pastries and merch as well, which adds to the adventure.

Super cozy cafe! Definitely a gem, the baked good are delicious and they make good drinks. I'd say it's worth the line! Glad I stopped by.

If you are in Edinburgh you have to stop by this coffee shop and try everything! Everything from their pastries is good & good coffee as well I ordered a cappuccino with the spinach feta I think it was and a cinnamon roll all were very tasty. Line is a bit long but it goes by fast.

food is out in the open UNCOVERED and very close to the register where people would talking and so more chances of spit getting on.

Cozy little coffee shop. Love their white-chocolate drinks that are soo unique. Don't love that their floors are dirty and cushions are disgusting especially during the endless Scottish rains. They need to figure out a way to make folks' shoes dry off and wipe their mud before they come inside. Also don't love that food is out in the open UNCOVERED and very close to the register where people would talking and so more chances of spit getting on.

This was fantastic! Excellent coffee and treats! Not a huge space so we did takeaway but cute seating if you can get a spot.

Their oat milk latte hits the spot on a cold windy morning. Stopped in here a couple times on my vacation. The pastries are delicious too.

Slotted in on Rose Street, at the back of the huge and imposing columned Dome buiding, this gorgeous little city-centre oasis is the perfect place to rest your shopping-weary feet and have a tasty lunch. It's only open from april to early september, and although it's tucked down a narrow street this place is a great little suntrap. You can get wraps, salads, soups, burgers, that sort of thing here - not a full á la carte lunch, but the portions are fairly generous so you'll only need one course. The service was ok, but our waiter didn't even bother to bring us our change back. We had been planning to leave it as a tip for him, but we thought it was a bit cheeky of him just to assume, especially when service is already included in the prices. For a salad and a soft drink you'll spend just over £10 a head, which makes it slightly pricier than a lot of other lunchtime cafés nearby, but this setting is just so gorgeous I'd happily pay the difference.

Again, that's alleged, but it's everywhere- Author J.K. Rowling had her first book published while she was writing in the back room overlooking Edinburgh Castle, making The Elephant House the "birthplace" of the series of Harry Potter novels. The Elephant House Cafe proudly calls itself the 'birthplace' of Harry Potter above the front door. This claim is slightly controversial, as the sign alludes to the birthplace of parts of the books, not necessarily the beginning. The Elephant House in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a pilgrimage site for any Potterhead. From the outside, and honestly from the inside as well, it seems like your average cafe. However, this cafe is one of the cafes that provided space for J.K. Rowling to create not only a book series, but an entire magical world. The

But, we were determined to get all those stamps (and the satisfaction of having accomplished something that was specific to Edinburgh), so this was the first of two coffee shops visited in the space of an hour. Crazy? Yes, indeed. I really liked the feel of this shop. It's open, clean and bright. It's about on par, size-wise, as some of the other shops we visited, but it wasn't as busy. There were two guys working the counter when we arrived, and they had several tables open, which we took advantage of. We ordered our drinks and sat down to wait. They came out quickly, and they were delicious. The guy who brought our coffee to the table was very friendly, checking to make sure that we were set, that we had everything we needed, and that we knew they had fresh-baked pastries at the counter. I was interested in the pastries but knew that we had one more coffee shop to visit before really starting our day, so I had to abstain. The coffee was delicious - well brewed and served piping hot. I could see making this place into a normal haunt, if we were in the area more often.
