    Chocolate eclair
    Beth Ann P.

AMAZING!! The chocolate eclair was bursting with flavor, I could have seriously eaten five more!! We stopped in after dinner for a quick sweet treat and an espresso. They have limited seating inside. Super cute quaint cafe. We orders ours to go. Back to the elcairs...we are staying at the Virgin Hotel just up the street and have walked blast this place numerous times saying we would stop by later. I am regretting that I didn't stop sooner to try this delectable treat and sadly we are leaving in the early morning. Do yourself a favor and just stop for the eclair the first time!!

Beautiful little pastry shop! Come early as it started to get a bit crowded in there. Had a delightful pear tart and a pot of jasmine tea. I'll likely be back!

Cute little place on Bow. Some seating but also good hot take away. Large selection of baked items and sandwiches. I had breakfast here two times and loved the coffee. The crusty baguettes with ham or salmon were great. There may be a wait out the door, but the staff keeps things moving along briskly.

Very cute and cozy patisserie with only four tables inside. We stopped by for an afternoon snack and ordered a tarte, brownie, and iced teas. It was in the afternoon so they had a lot of items that were sold out, but they have pastries, soup, quiche, and macarons. The service was friendly and they cleaned up the tables quickly so other customers can sit right away.

4/7/23- didn't get far and saw some goodness we wanted to try. Vanilla eclair, pastries and other items. Check out the photos. Wonderful and priced well. The passion fruit macarons were the best ever. Try this one. Very flavorful. Best once ever had. Only 1.55 pounds each. What a steal!!

Cute place on Victoria st. The staff was friendly and helpful- the food was good. The setting is darling but we sat outside to watch people walking by. Nice place to have a bite while visiting Old Town Edinburgh.

Oh my! Vice La France in Scotland! Should I say "Smile Me with Lorraine de Quiche? Qui!!!!!! Cappuccino at its best! A lovely little place with only 6 tables of 3 inside and a few outside, but worth the wait! Transport yourself to France with smiles! Yelp helps me find top shelf places, so this is why I don't have to do bad reviews. This place on Victoria Street is just so cozy, warm and inviting, you won't want to leave! By the way, the Salmon was outrageously wonderful according to my wife! If you have more than 4 in your party, sigh. But go anyway. LoL

Cute little coffee and pastry shop. We stopped in for some snacks on our tour of Edinburgh. The window display had us wanting to stop in instantly.

LBV is a perfect little french cafe tucked into Bow street. The kind of place where the clerk says, "Bonjour!" when you step in and then continues the conversation she was having with the waitress in French. The pastries, appealingly placed in a window case to attract passersby, looked divine. But as we were feeling a bit more peckish, they were not for us. Instead we ordered two coffees and some of their heartier fare: a lentil soup and La Parisien sandwich. The soup was very good, warm, creamy, and hearty just as it should be, and came with a generous serving of 6-8 slices of baguette with pats of scottish butter. The sandwich was also very tasty, although perhaps less my speed, with the inclusion of egg. Overall, lovely place, good ambiance, and can't wait to go back and try the remarkable looking pastries!

    Cappuccino, absolutely gorgeous

I honestly love this place. La Barantine Victoria is a quaint bakery that offers delicious pastries, heart-warming lattes (with BEAUTIFUL art), and good vibes only. I enjoyed it so much that I came here twice with my boyfriend and we were only in Edinburgh for two days (we probably would've came every day if we discovered it during our first day). The vegetable quiche is amazing and comes with a healthy portioned side salad (note: salad apparently doesn't come with quiches when you do take away). Their cappuccino had some of the best art I've seen, and their croissants are to die for. I ordered both a chocolate and a regular croissant and was planning to save one for later but couldn't because they were that good... Come here if you're visiting Edinburgh, you won't be disappointed! P.S. They do NOT have WiFi in case you were wondering (as of Oct. 2018).

The service was excellent and I got the traditional Scottish breakfast. Haggis and all and it was excellent, filing and worth walking in the light mist. The Mushroom Toast was very tasty according to my wife. The place is small and part of the larger establishment next door but still the same great food. The server is very friendly and I ordered full Scottish breakfast to try out everything and chai latte. It came fairly fast and it was a very full dish. I tried all the food and they are all yummy. The blood pudding is not quite my favorite. And the bean with the red sauce is a little too spicy for me. But overall it is very good. Chai latte is super yummy and not overly sweet!

Slotted in on Rose Street, at the back of the huge and imposing columned Dome buiding, this gorgeous little city-centre oasis is the perfect place to rest your shopping-weary feet and have a tasty lunch. It's only open from april to early september, and although it's tucked down a narrow street this place is a great little suntrap. You can get wraps, salads, soups, burgers, that sort of thing here - not a full á la carte lunch, but the portions are fairly generous so you'll only need one course. The service was ok, but our waiter didn't even bother to bring us our change back. We had been planning to leave it as a tip for him, but we thought it was a bit cheeky of him just to assume, especially when service is already included in the prices. For a salad and a soft drink you'll spend just over £10 a head, which makes it slightly pricier than a lot of other lunchtime cafés nearby, but this setting is just so gorgeous I'd happily pay the difference.

I adored the lime, poppyseed, and blueberry roulade! It was gone before the soup and toastie sandwich arrived. Crispy on the outside and so very soft and tasty on the inside. The cookie pie was impressive, but I honestly liked the roulade so much better. The soup today was broccoli and it was delicious! I had a ham and cheese sandwich lightly grilled in a panini press. Mom had a chorizo sandwich. The ladies at the bakery were lovely! Friendly happy folk always make food taste better! The bakery was quiet and not busy at 12:30 pm. It wasn't empty, just not busy. Again, that's alleged, but it's everywhere- Author J.K. The Elephant House Cafe proudly calls itself the 'birthplace' of Harry Potter above the front door. The Elephant House in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a pilgrimage site for any Potterhead. From the outside, and honestly from the inside as well, it seems like your average cafe. But, we were determined to get all those stamps (and the satisfaction of having accomplished something that was specific to Edinburgh), so this was the first of two coffee shops visited in the space of an hour. Crazy? Yes, indeed. I really liked the feel of this shop. It's open, clean and bright. It's about on par, size-wise, as some of the other shops we visited, but it wasn't as busy. There were two guys working the counter when we arrived, and they had several tables open, which we took advantage of. We ordered our drinks and sat down to wait. They came out quickly, and they were delicious. The guy who brought our coffee to the table was very friendly, checking to make sure that we were set, that we had everything we needed, and that we knew they had fresh-baked pastries at the counter. I was interested in the pastries but knew that we had one more coffee shop to visit before really starting our day, so I had to abstain. The coffee was delicious - well brewed and served piping hot. I could see making this place into a normal haunt, if we were in the area more often.
