After a brief hiatus of life circumstances, we're back. Got to check a bucket list item off for seeing one of my favorite bands from my youth. The sound at least for this event was awesome. Really enjoyed it and hope to see some more concerts soon. Biggest things to think about will be your parking and time to get in to get merch as you come. Some of the areas get a little tight to stand if people are wanting drinks and merch in the back - NBD, just be patient! Staff there were helpful as well. read more

I attended a concert here. The service and security were absolutely awful. Me and 4 friends were kicked out before the main act ever came on due to an unknown reason. The staff made us wait 3 1/2 hours in 18 degree weather and then proceeded to kick us out of the building and make us wait on the curb for our uber. I am very disappointed. read more

A super fun venue for the Band Of Horses show while in town for a conference a couple months ago!

I drove from Chattanooga to see Manchester Orchestra at this venue. Parking isn't bad. There is paid parking in front of the venue but there's free parking one block behind it so I recommend doing that, unless you want to pay for parking. The inside of the venue is nice. High ceilings with lots of open standing room. Bathrooms are nice and there's a bar. There's an upstairs that offers a nice view of the stage and it's less crowded. The acoustics were decent but super high pitched (tinny) and we had to move to the back to be able to stand it. We asked if they had earplugs but they didn't. The thing I like least about this space is the outside "greenspace" being so close to the inside. There was some seating and golf grass(?) and tons of people were smoking. Because there so many doors going in and out and opening and closing, there was a blanket of smoke inside the space making it impossible to escape. I mean, it's 2019 aren't we any closer to making spaces healthier for everyone? Move the smoking area across the street, at least. Let people sit outside in the small greenspace but don't allow smoking. Easy peasy. I'm kinda sad I saw one of my favorite bands here because I was so distracted by the smoke and obnoxious volume that it made it difficult to enjoy. I should add I wasn't drinking and I'm sure if I would've that could've helped my memory of this experience. As always, go check it out for yourself and see what you think! Cheers! read more

This is my FAVORITE venue in Knoxville. I was recently here for the Rumours concert. Rumours is a tribute band to Fleetwood Mac. The sound system was great. Wonderful atmosphere. And I LOVED the outdoor space and the food and beverage area. The food was actually good. Which, to be honest, I never expect from a concert venue. I got a hotdog and mozzarella sticks. They both tasted hot and fresh. I was also impressed by their beer selection - a lot of great local craft beers including a Hi-Wire IPA. I've been here for other events and love the fact that there's a restaurant that connects to the venue (Tako Taco) as well as other restaurants within walking distance to this place for food and drinks before. I also appreciate there's tons of (free) parking close: street parking and lots close by. I get so excited when there's a show or event I'm going to at The Mill and Mine. It has it all! read more

Knoxville is very fortunate in that we have an over abundance of great music venues. So when a new venue pops up, the bar is already set pretty high. The Mill & Mine fits a perfect need in a larger venue, with optional seating. If a band comes through that folks would rather dance than just sit around, it's great that a place like The Mill & Mine exists for people to have the option to dance, shimmy, or mosh. I've been at a ton of shows at seated venues where all anyone wanted to do was to be able to get up and dance, only to be shunned. It's also great that they are pliable enough to house diverse group of events like PechaKucha, Nourish Knoxville's Tomato Jam, The Maker City Summit, and the Retropolitan Craft Fair. read more

Tonight we went and saw Blue October. When I tell you this is one of the best venues to see a concert! Intimate setting you can stand or sit outside. Security was very nice. The bathrooms are always clean and staff is pleasant. Blue October rocked. We so enjoyed ourselves. All ages were there. Parking is limited but there is public parking free behind the view. read more

Mill and Mine was a much needed addition to the music scene in Knoxville. Having a general admission venue for music with indoor and outdoor setting sets this apart and they are always booking incredible talent. Beyond that, it serves as an incredible venue for weddings and special events. I have been to several charity events, weddings, drag brunches and trivia nights here and the team in charge of event coordinating kills it every time. I've been to hundreds of concerts across the country and I'm attempting to write a review of every venue to assist my concert going troubadours. Turnpike Troubadours April 23, 2017 A week later, I'm still smarting from my worst concert experience in 25 years. It was so bad, I went back and re-rated previous yelps to reflect the fact that The Mill and Mine is the new standard of terrible time. I'm not sure who gets the bulk of the blame: the venue, the artist (Turnpike Troubadours), or Knoxville. Like previous posts claim, the sound at the venue is terrible - washed out vocals, booming bass, terrible reverb, amplified crowd noice. My guess is the sound goes straight up and gets lost in the rafters (when we moved back from the stage, the sound got a little better). I get the feeling the venue won't take the necessary steps to better "sound" the hall, because it wouldn't be aesthetically appealing (also serves as a wedding and an upscale mess hall). I think the locals have caught on to the fact that The Mill and Mine is a sound dumpster fire. Turnpike Troubadours are regular sell-outs, however on this night the venue was 1/3 capacity. Or Knoxville just isn't that hip of a music town. Blame it on the sound, terrible weather (we had to buy jackets when we got to Knoxville), poor turnout, or the fact that their bus broke down earlier in day, the Turnpike Troubadours flat out didn't want to be there. They played almost an hour and a half, rushed through songs and ended the night with a new song from their upcoming album. I've never heard of an artist playing an unheard song to end the night; those are usually played in the middle of the set and serve as bathroom breaks. We entered the venue at 8:30; we were back in our truck at 10:50. The only silver lining is our bar tabs only totaled $70 (with tip) - very reasonable. And I can't comment on the state of their restrooms, because we weren't there long enough to use them. We were long due for a dud, and this was a dud. Too bad we had to travel 1k miles for that dud (We drove from Pittsburgh). read more

The Mill and Mine is exactly what Knoxville has so desperately needed when it comes to live music venues. We finally have a venue that is general admission and holds a decent size crowd (think 1,200 people). The line up since they opened their doors has been strong and once word starts spreading about the venue, I'm sure it'll continue to only get better! The venue itself is beautiful! They did such a great job and it even still has that fresh, new venue smell! You can't beat that! The bathrooms are large and clean. They have 3 separate bars, 2 beer and 1 liquor/wine, which keeps the lines moving quickly. I've seen 3 different shows here and wherever I end up in the crowd, it's always a good view. And that's saying something coming from someone that's 5 ft tall! I also love the upstairs balcony section, if I can snag a space. While I'm really excited to see what they have up their sleeves for the outdoor space, they have been really smart in the meantime and had food trucks and local restaurants set up on their patio area! Genius! I think that this venue is only going to get better and better as they work out any small kinks that come up, which are inevitable with an endeavor such as this. Rock on, Mill & Mine. A perfect venue! I went there to see Coheed and Cambria. It was such a unique space in a convenient location. There are beautiful hardwood floors and the rafters are exposed in a super chic way. It almost feels like the event space that your friend who wants a "rustic feel" to their wedding without being in some creepy falling-apart barn would pick. There is an upper floor for those who'd prefer to see the show from a distance. There was a great selection of drinks for affordable prices (as shows go). I can't speak to every show, but during this one there was a BBQ place selling food in the indoor/outdoor part of the venue. It looked so good, but I had just scarfed down a burrito because I didn't think there would be food there. So I'm sure that would come as a welcome surprise for some people. Believe it or not, even the bathrooms were nice! They were clean and not crowded. This place really made it worth the trip from Nashville to see one of my favorite bands. read more

Great place for a concert! Love the outdoor area, and the freaking ladies' room smells good - that never happens!!

Tonight was our first time at Mill and Mine. We saw Irontom, Missio, and AWOLnation (great show by the way). First I will say the outdoor area at Mill and Mine is a great space. There is some seating as well as tables and an AstroTurf lawn. The indoor part of Mill and Mine is even more impressive. Everything seems brand new, and it is a huge open space. The bar has many registers and lots of bartenders to keep the line moving. They have great selection and the prices are reasonable. There was also food at the show. They had yummy tacos, and had a great vegetarian option. We really enjoyed the food. The bathrooms were also large and updated and very clean. (I always worry about going in the bathroom at music venues, but this was perfect) The area around the stage has tons of standing room and you really can have as much room as you want, depending on how closely you want to stand to the stage. There was great air circulation, even in a crowded show, and they didn't even turn on the large ceiling fans. Overall, this is now my favorite music venue in Knoxville. I'm keeping an eye on all the shows at Mill and Mine, and I can't wait to go back. Awesome venue! read more

I'm up in arms. The sound last night for Lucero was the absolute worst. I have seen them several times and I could not hear him when he was talking into the mic. I was pretty close to the front too. It needed to be louder. No joke... I could hear everyone around and the crowds of people behind me better than Bens vocals. Might wanna double check that with an Acoustic set. For sure kinda bummed. Besides that had some dank tacos and everything else was pretty much great. read more

This place is awesome! I went here for a Whitechapel (heavy metal) show! It's one of the best venues I've ever been to. They have a huge room with an upper lever and bars located all over. Outside they have a patio with fans and an AstroTurf field. The Mill and Mine is also conveniently located to downtown Knoxville and there's parking all over. read more

Rude staff and security. Didn't even stay for the show. Got hassled for taking a concert poster off the door inside the venue. Put the poster back as the large woman ask. She obviously told someone because I was questioned by another member of security about trying to take the poster. This guy was pretty nice and said get it after the show. I told him you have to get it when you see it or it won't be there. Needless to say it was gone before the show started. Can't believe they made that big of a deal about taking down a poster. If it was a day or days before the show I understand. But it was 30 minutes before the show and it was inside the venue. I've taken many promotional concert posters and never been hassled. Great venue for concert. Large clean restrooms, very reasonable bar prices, adequate staffing and no long lines for bar or entry. The courtyard and outdoor area is great. My only complaint is no seating. I understand the standing only concert venue, but Searing in the courtyard would make it a 5 star review. We sat on the floor in the balcony and enjoyed the concert from there. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The venue itself isn't the worst, it is just the workers who are intolerable. The lady checking purses was so rude, and told me to get my phone out of her face, because I thought she was the ticket person and showed her my phone. Once I got inside I felt so uncomfortable from the male bodyguards there. I am of age and their eyes were hawking at me the whole time like I was some imposter to look out for, for underage drinking. Overall, terrible and I really promise no artist is worth seeing here. read more

Decor is very inviting and on trend, plus they have a great outdoor space. If I were planning a large event I'd definitely consider this venue. As a concert hall, however, I'm not a fan. Visual aesthetic of the space took precedent over acoustics. Upstairs is an obstructed view of an obstructed view and the sound is very chaotic and muffled. Downstairs the sound is a little better, but still unfocused. As a shorter person I had to stand way back at the bar to see anything. The best sound, sadly, is outside so if you don't really want to SEE your favorite band you can always stand outside and hear them. read more

I had the privilege of seeing Cody Jinks perform here and it was such a treat. While it's a large venue, it still has an intimate feel. Not to mention that the ambiance is a perfect blend of industrial and rustic modern. Love this place! read more

We went to see George Clinton and were pleased to see the open floor plan with portable bars and vending stations. One could step outside to have a cigarette or get some air in an enclosed grassy area just outside the door. The restrooms are ample and the site is handicap-accessible. There is a balcony from which one can observe a show or a wedding. The prices for drinks and snacks are very reasonable for a venue. It holds over 1,000 people and has lovely brick walls. It is truly suitable for a wedding, a charitable event, or a dance recital. I was very impressed. read more

I was excited to come to this venue but then I reached security. I'm fine with my wallet being searched but having a person run their hands over my breasts was beyond not ok. My husband witnessed this and said something to the security guard who checked him through . His response was, " if you don't like it leave." Checking my pockets is one thing. Copping a feel is another. Hire another security service. read more

Great venue - cosmetically. The sound system in this venue is just plain terrible. All drums, all bass response, nothing else. We went to see the Drive-By Truckers there and it was painfully bad to listen to. Putting PA speakers at the opposite ends of a giant stage next to brick walls is going to result in nothing but tons of low end carrying all over the room and hearing almost nothing else. It's a beautiful building, the staff is very nice and an enjoyable place to SEE a show, but not HEAR one. read more

This is a beautiful, distinctive venue.....perfect for weddings, rehearsal dinners...parties. The acoustics are not terrific. I was sorely disappointed in the sound and how it carried. In addition to the reverb, the vocals were often washed out and seemed quiet. The bass was ground-shaking. This space would be good for a rave. Remember those? I love that Knoxville has a space like this but other than being able to accommodate a large crowd, many things about the experience were lacking. If you don't care about how a band sounds and you just want to be able to say you saw so-and-so, then this is the venue for you! Large rafters block any sort of stage view from the balcony space. Other pluses: parking was fairly easy, the patio was lovely. I was also bummed that once I was inside the venue, I couldn't leave (to seek better beer/food elsewhere). No re-entry. I'd like to see that change. That forced smokers to smoke on the patio which kinda ruins the patio if you just love being outside and/or need air, etc. I'd have to weigh the price/band/event before returning to the Mill & Mine. I didn't find it any better than the Electric Ballroom or International or whatever it is called these days. I'm excited to see what they do with the large outdoor space. read more
