We also recalled that there was some connection to Gerry Frank's Konditorei in Salem, which immediately caught our interest. After doing a little research, we discovered there's a deep and fascinating history linking the two businesses. The Lovin Oven began in 1983, when founder Doreen Helmemn operated the bakery out of her home. In 1993, the business expanded into a small storefront in downtown Stayton after being purchased by Mike and Valerie Schultz. Mike, who was formerly a logger, was personally taught cake decorating by the original founder, an origin story that adds to the bakery's charm and authenticity. One of the most interesting details we learned is that The Lovin Oven is the primary baker for Gerry Frank's Konditorei in Salem, a partnership that dates back to the 1980s. That relationship grew even stronger in 2017, when the Schultzes became co-owners of the Konditorei. Many people enjoying desserts at high-end restaurants throughout the region may not realize that their cakes were baked in Stayton. The Lovin Oven is especially well known for its Champagne Raspberry cake, Marionberry cheesecake, and an impressive variety of gourmet bars and cookies. Their menu also includes cakes, cheesecakes, cinnamon rolls, brownies, cupcakes, and more, something for just about every dessert preference. The bakery itself is housed in an industrial-style building that includes the production bakery, a storefront, and a small seating area where you can enjoy your treats on site. The outside is a unique with a black painted brick exterior. The customer facing area of the inside is industrial. We picked up a selection of cupcakes to take to dinner and were quickly back on the road. The cupcakes were a hit, everyone loved them, and they disappeared fast. It felt great to share something local with such a rich backstory. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and we're glad we stopped. If you find yourself passing through Stayton or looking for high-quality desserts in the Willamette Valley, The Lovin Oven is absolutely worth checking out.

You order at the counter, and they bring you your food at a table, or if it's coffee and sweets you get it there and then. Everyone in B's Bake Shoppe was friendly and greeted me with kindness, and a smile. They were extremely willing to ensure I felt welcome, even when flopping my latte order around as my eyes scanned over a delicious sounding special! My iced latte was delicious. I love trying new flavor combinations and the honey cardamon is a win. It has the sweetness, but a stronger bitter taste. This hit the spot for the day. The chocolate fudge brownie is RICH. It's creamy, dense, and tasty! 2 bits is all I could manage, and would definitely share this with friends/family when I bring them with me. The London Fog Macaroon tasted as though it had been in a freezer or fridge open air. It was subtle, but there. As a dessert I don't regularly have I can't say exactly if I'm just not understanding the flavor. I also found this one more crunchy than others that I've had. Past macaroons have been light and fluffy, but somewhat brittle. These were more dense, and crumbled under the first bite. The Turkey Pesto BLT tastes delicious! The greens overwhelmed the flavor at first, and as a personal preference could do with a little less L. But, it is a bLt, so I asked for lettuce ! Overall a delicious sandwich! I'll be excited to share this little local spot with family and friends in the near future.

I needed a sheet cake for the 20-25 guests and a Smash cake for the birthday boy celebrating "One Happy Camper". I interviewed a couple of bakeries - several times - trying to get a feel for the products they offer and the nit-picking I wanted with the cakes. I settled on Sweet Masterpieces and especially liked the helpfullness of Crystal in making and decorating the cakes for the occation. The crowd went wild when the cakes were brought in. The compliments flowed over the look and taste of the cakes. (I had made sure everyone knew I got the cakes.) My grandson performed the super task of smashing the cake and eating a healthy dose. Everyone cheered. The white cake with lemon curd filling and modified cream cheese frosting was absolutely delicious. The Smash cake green onbre, did not go to waste, as my husband and I took home (to CA) the rest of it after our grandson smashed and ate. I love supporting 'local' small businesses, (yes, some people told me to just go to Costco.) and I'm mighty glad I did. The cakes were personal, masterful and delicious. I highly recommend Crystal and Sweet Masterpieces. E. P. J.

Some of our group including me are gluten-free so we also ordered gluten-free cupcakes. Everyone loved every bit of the German chocolate cake and the gluten-free vegan cupcakes were spot on. Normally, I don't like vanilla gluten-free vegan cupcakes because they're always too dense and Crystal really did an amazing job. And the birthday girl said German chocolate cake was exquisite. Thank you so much.
