Pool that's only open 2 days a week (on weekends only)!? WTF!??? I was excited to tour this property, but cheap management ruined it for me. What is the point of paying for amenities I can't even use except on mobbed weekends? (2 days a week during summer only = a pool I might be able to use 5x a year unless I spend every weekend at home and never travel or leave home on weekend?).. Maybe good for local yokal Jersey Boyz who never left a 15 mile radius from their parents' house and don't travel on weekends to see the world and experience real life. My favorite thing about having a pool is taking a dip after a long day at work! I was also a bit reluctant b/c the property is basically in the middle of nowhere, off a NJ highway spaghetti-nightmate of loops and on-ramps and off-rampa....totally suburanite, car-landlocked only (unless you enjoy running across the highway and a $40 Uber every time you wanna have a night on the town and not go drunk driving). I was willing to look past location until I found outi couldn't even swim my way home unless it was a weekeend. Also, apparently you have to pay water and sewer through their "portal"...which is double-speak for inflated utility surcharge costs, aka kickback to middle-company utility company that probably goes right back into the management/owner's back pocket as well. The Monarch is a great place to live! The amenities are excellent, especially since it is in the middle of nowhere. My boyfriend and I lived in The Monarch for 10 months and only left due to a relocation across the country. We loved our time at the complex. Deb and Yenessa (managers) were always prompt and super helpful. John, the maintenance manager, was always super sweet! All three made sure to handle all issues, if any, immediately. The complex itself was beautiful and well kept. There's a small, but well appreciated, dog run for the furries. There's a convenience store that carries the basic necessities and doubles as a deli. Transportation to the nearest train station was always reliable and on time. Amenities were always clean and rarely packed. Food trucks on Thursdays were great. I would suggest keeping them coming year round! Concierge always had a smile on their face and made you feel welcome upon coming home. Patios were a hit in the summer - especially the fire pits! Not really sure the reasoning for the bad reviews. We received our deposit back after simply treating the apartment well so no funny business going on. Don't let a few bad reviews from the few underwhelmed scare you away from living comfortably and luxuriously! Even the neighbors were great - though rarely seen. (But can't say I mind that) Should things not work out on the west coast, we know where we'll return. :) read more

Deb at the leasing office is extremely helpful. We've been living in the complex for close to two years and she has been extremely responsible and helpful with all of our needs from day one. I do not understand why everyone is complaining about the leasing office, every property has its issues but the leasing office is def not one of them in this case. read more

This place has gone downhill since the new management company purchased it a couple of years ago. The rules are excessive and you can guarantee that you'll be awakened by the blaring sound of the fire alarm at 2 am (almost monthly). Take your money elsewhere. So many other options! read more

The amenities available at the Monarch are second to none. There is a large Pool, a club room to lounge in, or schedule private events, a fitness center with a lot of equipment and machines, a yoga room,and even a children's playroom! There is even dry-cleaning on site, for convenience. The location of The Monarch is Great! Located on Rt. 3 you are ten minutes from NYC. There are plenty of options for work commutes, and nights out in the City! There are also competitive rents at these apartments which is a plus. Lease consultant is not approachable, never answers her phone and when you finally get somebody on the phone its a person who cannot help you. When emailing her to advise that we are no longer interested, I received a short but rude reply "ok, but you don't get your money back!" Ive been reading lot of bad reviews while previous management company was in charge, however I almost start to believe that the new management company is as bad if not worse. Will miss this place. My wife and I are moving to Georgia. John, the head of maintenance is amazing. John takes all service calls seriously, jumps on any issue quickly and makes sure the entire building is in great condition. Otherwise, good location, close to everything. Short drive to Hoboken, short drive to great retail, etc. Staff is very friendly. I had an issue a few months ago out front and the head of management came running out to make sure I was okay, made me a cup of tea, etc. We will miss our "home" of almost four years. I lived there for 4 years and I must say the place has become the absolute worst complex to live in. When we first moved into the Monarch the leasing staff was somewhat descent. The apartments were properly maintained. As the years has gone by, the quality of life that's moving in has diminished whereby it isn't even a safe place to live. The rules just to use your amenities are like your in a prison. If you have children they are not allowed to play outside in the terrace area. People don't care about damaging your car in the parking lot, it's dirty with cigarette buds and bottles all over the place, not to mention someone stole my car covers for my high end vehicles. The apartment walls are paper thin to point if someone is sleeping you can hear them snore in your apartment. There biggest draw is the pool where you cant bring drinks to, can't have guest swim in, everyone argues and wants to fight, concierge is watching you like a hawk to throw you out. This place is a nightmare. We finally couldn't take the abuse anymore from the rude staff so we finally moved out and it was the best decision. No need to try and make residential friends, the retention rate there is next to none. Concierge turns over faster than you can take a shower. The stadium traffic is outrageous. I have nothing but horrific memories of this place. Hope everyone can find this as informative as possible. There are better choices than this shit hole. Im sure at some point someone is going to find crack pipes and needles. Very displeased with our experience. We stopped in and had to persaude the front desk to permit us in with the property manager. After doing so, we saw the Monarch and we were relatively pleased with the overall appearance, seemed like a nice place. We put in our application and a $500 hold on an apartment, but prior to leaving we requested some sort of incentive to sign a two year lease. We suggested reduced rent, a parking spot, anything to make signing two years seem worthy. We finally suggested reducing our pet fee from two to one dog (we have two dogs, 6 and 8lbs). The manager said that would be something she could speak to her manager about and let us know (it didn't seem like much of a problem so we were happy about that and left). Mind you, this apartment is not even on the market yet but we were prepping to take it once the current tenants moved out. About a week or so passed and we heard back that the second dog fee decrease was not approved and our only incentive was our rent would remain the same for two years. This was very upsetting as every other complex that is similar around offers free month, reduced security, or free amenities, but the Monarch wouldn't budge and offer anything. After this, we decided not to sign a lease there. Over $2000 per month for a one bedroom and absolutely no perks or incentives at all. After careful consideration we decided not to move in to the Monarch, despite the ability to do so. I requested to have our $500 back and was told this is non- refundable. We were very disappointed to hear this as we didn't sign a lease and weren't offered anything to move in at all, even after trying to commit for two years. We're still not sure why this check will not be returned since this apartment is still lived in and technically not even available to view for another month. After the experience, we suggest you look elsewhere and deal with a management company that values commitment and is willing to work with long term, responsible renters. read more

But after living here for a month I seen and been whiteness to all of these events listed below Mice in dog park Ticks in dog walk Crappy fake wood kitchen cabinets Super small cabinet space Super small washer dryer (don't fit bedding) Small fridge and freezer space Rules being changes mid lease without notification Allowing Tennant's and concierge to knock on my door any time of day Weed smell throughout the hallways Paying amenities for seasonal amenities 0 yoga instructor after told they hire one once a week Rent increase of about 20% Impossible to switch apartments Not willing to help or work with you Lack of empathy from both BNE Real estate and Monarch management Constant fire alarms going off throughout the day Cheap weak laminate floors Huge draft comes through window Cheap white carpet that constantly gets dirty Shitty Verizon internet being that there are too many Verizon boxes in unit Weird electric bills that no one can answer. According to PSEG they up the wattage so this is why your bill.is ridiculously high All of this is just terrible they informed me since day one they will work with me when my lease is up due to my shitty neighbor who would complain about everyone around me and knock on my door throughout all times of the day. My lease is finally up October 1 and they needed my lease answer by 8/17. I did not want to move here after I saw the ridiculous rent increase for a 1 bedroom more than 2000 just doesn't seem worth it. I fought and argued to have them help me with the move as promised and they never were able to give me a hand. There help was.... I can move into a new apt on 1st floor with patio for 2183 a month but can only move in 10/9 so what that means I need to pay my partial month rent from 10/1-10/9 (about 1000 dollars) and then pay a months rent plus a months deposit of new rent so that is about 6,000 in a time frame of 1 WEEK!!! Ridiculous they also tell me this only 4 days left for me to sign and look for new apt. I tried and i tried to work with them even reached out to BNE. Personally and nobody cares. Please feel free to contact me i can answer anything honest about this property as to I am stuck here for another 15 months due to my lease being resigned because I had 0 time to look for new place so now I'm here paying this garbage high rent for such a low quality "luxury" apt. I wish they would work with me I paid my rent every single time on time and dealt with a shitty neighbor for 12 months least they can do is help me out. read more

I can't comment on the actual complex or living there, as we never even had a chance to tour the place. Reached out to the leasing office 4 separate times via email, chat and phone... no response. Phone just rings and you can't even leave a message. If it's this hard to get a hold of someone to do a tour, it worries me to imagine how it is when you're living there and need something handled. Do not waste your time or money on this place. The entire place smells like urine from dogs peeing literally everywhere. The management team or lack there of tries to intimidate residents by keeping their door closed and only allowing the concierge to announce tenants. The management team doesn't care about the tenants or the property. The soundproofing is terrible and many of the tenants are not friendly or considerate. The maintenance staff doesn't properly clean the apartment before you move in but nitpicks everything while you move out. Maintenance also doesn't check your appliances prior to move in and only fixes things minimally so they have to make repeated visits. Don't waste your time or money here. read more
