It's HUGE and well laid out, with isles in line producing a natural flow for your shopping experience. There are a couple of booths that are over priced, but for the most part, booths are well priced and merchandise is either unique, hard to find or old. Staff is friendly and helpful. Walking into the Leech Pit is like getting vertigo at a strobe filled dance club (oontz oontz oontz) - there's just so much goodness you just need to pause to catch your breath and take it all in. But you can't pause because your heart is pounding and you're giddy with excitement. The rare concert t-shirts, the racks and racks of clothes that serve as documentary of every phase you ever went through, the action toys you spent every afternoon with (and realize you now could be rich if you had kept them instead of letting mom donate them to the stupid kid down the road because you're too old for them now SMH), the records - oh sweet Jesus the records! - and even record players for your new collection! It's a one stop shop for your wildest dreams!! As if the shop wasn't Valhalla on earth on its own, I met the owner too (I think his name was Adam, but he looks like an Izzy). He was damn cool - I think he's probably my long-lost best friend from 6th grade that I used to get in trouble with. When he shows you around you realize he knows every item intimately, because he curated everything in the store. Everything in the Leech Pit feels like an expression of the owner and his commitment to taking you on a journey to excite your senses and comfort your soul. I'm a sucker for all of the Mexican pottery and outdoor art that they sell, and I honestly find it to be a bit of a treasure hunt every time I visit. I just don't know what I'll find! The staff working is always super nice, and everything is always marked down. If you feel adventurous you can likely try to get the price lower as my mom often does as she barters with the sales folks. I usually just accept whatever discount they bestow upon me at checkout and count my blessings. This last trip we took home a pink flamingo bird house for our small collection, and also learned a tip from the staff working regarding preserving the metal outdoor artworks.
