Dr. Billinghurst reviewed scans, reports and x-rays recommending surgery. We felt totally confident in Dr. Billinghurst & weren't disappointed. Besides from having a wonderful bedside manner, he's a skilled surgeon. My husband developed a staph infection & he worked with the team of infectious disease experts & aggressively opened& flushed the wound. It's been 6 months he's be in the care of Dr. Billinghurst & he has his life back!

For those who have issues with their back, Dr Billinghurst should be your go-to doctor to address…read moreyour back issues.Unfortunately Yelp only allows a maximum of 5 stars otherwise I would rate him higher. For starters, Dr Billinghurst has a very good bedside manner. He tells you what needs to be done in a way that even if you are not well versed in the medical field you can understand it and not feel as if he is talking down to you. When I have needed injections he told me where the pain would be and how much pain. He also mentions if you will feel pressure as opposed to pain. When it turned out I needed surgery, he told me what to expect. He also mentioned that if I chose to have a 2nd opinion, the answers I could expect to get from other doctors. After my surgery, he monitored me and had me come in on a timely basis to check on my progress. After recovering from my surgery, I will say that I can do a whole lot more and in a lot less pain. On this note when he does give you an injection, it is not as painful as when other doctors do it. I thought before he gave me the epidurals they would be quite painful. Thankfully they were not and I have had other doctors give me an epidural. They were more painful. He also is more thorough. One other thing I need to add here; a while back I had a follow-up appointment for 1:30. Sonia his assistant called me around 12 that day to say that he was running behind. If we moved the appointment to 2, he would be able to see me without a delay. Like I said, I would rate him more than 5 stars if I could. I highly recommend Dr Billinghurst for your back issues. You will be glad you saw him for it.

It is only when I call and I tell them that I can send them the receipt that they check it and say, "oh yes, you don't have a balance." Double billing is a practice among many in the medical field. Due to her rudeness I chose a surgeon at a different practice, sorry Dr A. But thanks for taking great care of my dad. It's the way the office is run that gets me crazy. Making appointments can make your hair go gray. After hanging on hold for anywhere between 5 to 18 minutes after calling the main number, you best be sure they are truthful when giving an appointment many weeks out. There are probably appts sooner if you are standing in front of a friendly office receptionist. And if you are calling to reach a doctor or his/her medical staff, good luck with that. If you are already a patient in the practice, best to ask your doctor for an extension to reach their medical assistant in case you have an emergency and need to be seen immediately. A broken bone or excruciating pain cannot wait for weeks.

My appointment was with Dr. Guiffrida who is totally amazing. He has worked with me trying steroid injections, epidurals, nerve ablations. Some worked, some worked for a short period of time, some longer. He didn't shove pills at me which so many doctors do. After a procedure being rejected for pre approval, I was ready to give up. But he wasn't, we came to another plan and it has worked. I am not a trusting person and have had Not so good experiences with doctors. Dr. Guiffrida I totally trust and return to anytime.

When I awoke from surgery my left arm muscles had atrophied and my whole arm was numb. I could not move my left arm. My wife had to button my shirt for me. Over the next several weeks I was in the emergency room twice because my bladder stopped working..I had to wear a catheter while this was going on to allow my bladder to empty itself. Through my own research I discovered that urine retention was a side effect of Gabapentin..I stopped taking the Gabapentin..when the urologist removed the catheter, for the 2nd time, my bladder started working again. Cantor and his staff seemed unaware of this Gabapentin side effect. Also, my numbness wasn't any better or worse after I quit taking the Gabapentin. Using Gabapentin for this purpose is an off label use..it's normally used in this dosage to manage epilepsy. 5 months later after complaining that my numbness was not improving, Cantor eyeballed an MRI and dismissed my problems as Neuropraxia..he said it would be gone in 18 months. I had my doubts about his prognosis and reached out to a neurologist who referred me to a neurosurgeon who ordered a detailed EMG. 10 months after surgery the EMG report stated that there was no Neuropraxia..It stated the peripheral nerve damage caused by Cantor's surgery was Axonotmesis. The EMG doctor and the Neurosurgeon both said Axonotmesis heals at a rate of 1in per month...they said I was looking at 3-5 years for my peripheral nerves to heal. They also said the motor neurons stop healing after about 18 months. Cantor is obviously not a neurologist or he would have ordered an EMG instead of an MRI to get an accurate assessment of the peripheral nerve damage. I was misled, misinformed and misdiagnosed by Cantor and his staff. 16 months after surgery, my left arm is still noticeably smaller than my right arm, and my numbness is 100x worse than it was before the surgery. Buttoning my shirt is still a struggle. If you have surgery by Cantor and come out unscathed, you are just lucky, it certainly is not because he knows what he is doing.
