Was walking around downtown Ellensburg looking for breakfast options. Saw enticing signage with cool modern font and decor. Was pleased to see well set up outdoor option with all servers wearing masks, which seems to be optional in this area. Menu was short on options, but definitely deliver. Table ordered the biscuits and gravy, which was quite a portion and well flavored. Breakfast sandwich was perfect biscuit with delicious ingredients. I went to college at CWU, so always try to stop by the Burg on my way between the east/west sides. I searched for a dinner spot online, and am so glad that it led me to The Mule. 1) How can you not get the feels when driving through downtown, especially in the fall. 2) The restaurant is in a beautiful building, think exposed brick and big front windows. 3) The food was delicious. I had the wedge salad (they do it well!) and fried ravioli bites. 4) My jalapeño mule was also delicious. 5) The employees were so friendly! It has a sweet taste at first and then a spicy kick of jalapeño and cilantro at the end. I also enjoyed the Maui, it tastes like you're on the beach sipping a piña colada. Amazing and fast service. We LOVE The Mule!! Having recently moved from a town with incredible food choices, we have found ourselves visiting the same few places over and over again, in Ellensburg. We decided to try The Mule on their ribbon cutting night. We were NOT disappointed!! The customer service was INCREDIBLE! Ben (behind the bar) knows how to make a drink, and their drink menu is unlike anything else in town! They have taken the "Moscow Mule" and "infused" it into almost every drink on the menu, putting a unique spin on your old favorites. Who knew ginger liquor, ginger beer, pickled ginger, etc could add so much to the good old standbys?! Don't like ginger? Don't worry about it! They'll make your old standby and still do it with a smile, in a fancy glass! Their grits are the creamiest I've ever had and full of flavor! We got to met the chef, Russell, and you can tell he has a passion for food. His wife, Sarah, was managing the front end and you could tell she was making sure to make contact with every person in the room... with a smile. We also shared the shepherds pie... SOOOO good! Regarding the negative reviews... I sure wonder if those people brought their issues up with the staff. This place is in their first couple weeks of being open. For crying out loud... let them work the kinks out... which includes giving them face-to-face feedback and giving them an opportunity to make it right. THEN, if you're not satisfied... jump on Yelp and tell the rest of the world how you really feel. Not questioning that the two people who posted bad reviews had a less than desired experience; however, based on MY experience... First time visiting this little gem, only a 49-person capacity, so it's a small space, but has lots of charm with original brick and woodwork accents. We had the mac & cheese and shepherd's pie and both were delicious, perfect comfort food on a chilly November evening. The mac & cheese has sausage in it, which I was skeptical of...until I had my first bite! It was a tasty combination and a nice sharp cheddar bite with a crumb crust. The "Matriarch Mule" was a delicious traditional Moscow Mule, tangy and fresh. I look forward to going back and trying one of the other flavored mules on the menu. Great drinks! Food... not quite. My friends and I all went out here. We ordered several drinks, a Guinness dip appetizer, burgers and shepherds pie. The drinks all tasted delicious. They aren't pouring heavy, they all taste great but aren't particularly strong. The dip was good, but the bread looked exactly like store bought and were too thick to taste the dip. The shepherds pie should not be called that. Nothing about it is authentic, and it was a disappointment. Processed mashed potato, not toasted, rather soupy. The guts of the plate was like a weird hamburger, brown gravy, canned veggies stew. They have these fancy wagyu burger patties, but whatever they are doing to cook them or how they assemble the burger makes it taste truly average. So it's an expensive average burger. Overall, I'd be glad to order tasty drinks here in the future - but don't come hungry. Get some great food somewhere else and then enjoy the modern, friendly atmosphere here with some casual drinks. read more

There's no trashy drink names which contributes to the casual yet classy atmosphere. I've been here three times now and have had great experiences with drinks and food. For food I recommend their burgers, wings, beer cheese dip, cubano sandwich and their sweet potato fries. For drinks I recommend any and every drink that uses their house infused Titos vodka. This place has a lot of room to grow. The Mules are yummy. However...all of the Mules are similar to the other cocktails (notice the similarities in ingredients). Wish they were a little more creative. Service was really awesome. Be warned that it is open seating! Food was probably the worst part of the experience. We order the shrimp and grits. Nothing fantastic. Shrimp was way overcooked. Also got the Cesar Burger and Mac and Cheese. Burger was just okay. Looked like a pre made patty. Kinda one note. Fries fine. Mac and Cheese was soooo disappointing. It came in the smallest gratin...maybe 10 bites of food. Was supposed to have sausage and sundries tomatoes. Didn't see a single tomato and had maybe 3 pieces of sausage. Garlic bread was strange. Don't mind small plates but the food better be bomb if so...especially for THAT PRICE. Overall I'd go for drinks but probably avoid eating there. read more

Went here for lunch the other day and probably won't be back. The drinks were okay, but nothing exciting as we had hoped. I ordered the Blue Burger, the bun was really soggy and the fries were cold.
