Another Yelp find! Was craving a fresh green juice, and the usual spot I frequented (Whole Foods - Commack) was randomly out of juice for the day. Thankfully they were, because that's when I found Zach and the Mung bean. The establishment doubles as a vitamin/supplement shop, in addition to serving up fresh juice and smoothies. The options are plentiful (juices, smoothies, wheatgrass shots) and REAL! Unlike some major chains who use fruit concentrate, etc. All the fruits and veggies used are kept in a large double door cooler towards the back of the store. If you're getting a juice, they'll juice it to order and right in front of you. I was given a few samples of other customer juice/smoothie orders, in a 1oz taster which is a nice touch but also a good strategy to keep you coming back to potentially order something new the next time around. Here we go, So my sister told me about this health food store months ago. Then I saw one of my yelp buddies, Gail, visit the store as well. So I figured I would try it out . I'm glad I did. This little gem is in a busy shopping mall in Commack, facing Jericho Tpke across the street is a White Castle. I arrived in the store immediately and was greeted. It was about 10 am. This store was packed with so many people. Everyone wanted smoothies. I wanted to see what the rave was about. So I ordered one too. The green smoothie is yummy. His smoothie was amazing with a shot of wheatgrass. Yummy. The variety of vitamins was great. Customer service was amazing even though there was a crowd of people. The manager and worker stayed calm, made smoothies, and still smiled throughout the chaos. Pricing was reasonable. Yes, I will be visiting again for my wheatgrass shots, among other other items. This is a great little health food and smoothie/juicing shop in the heart of Commack. They have a large selection of vitamins and supplements and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful about what to select. I come here when I'm not sure what to get, or if I need to pick up some quick health food items like teas, veggie burgers, etc. and don't want to deal with the stress of crowded chain health food stores or vitamin shops nearby. You probably couldn't do a whole week's worth of grocery shopping here, but can get some great things you need, and the prices are reasonable. I love this place because of their fresh veggie juices and protein shakes! The owner is very knowledgeable on all sorts of natural remedies. I have severe excema and dry skin and he recommended flax seed oil for me and within 1 month my skin was healed and better than ever. I combine that with his "garden veggie smoothie" and my body is loving me. He also has fresh made sandwiches for vegetarians and a variety of products for people who need a gluten free diet.
