I went here knowing the prices would be ridiculously high, so I won't chastise them for that. However, WF is known for their great selection of high quality foods and especially produce, which was not the case here. The produce isle looked ransacked, not great selection and many items out of stock. I came especially for broccoli rabe, but it was all gone. I would've asked an associate if they had more, but there were none around. In the future, I'd rather go to a different WF or a regular supermarket with more reasonable (relatively speaking) prices. read more

I particularly love Whole Foods. They have so many healthy options to choose from. If you want organic choose their 365 by Whole Foods brand. Their produce department has many varieties and you can usually find some exotic fruit. My last visit I found half of a jackfruit. I always try something new. The young generation Z employees are friendly and try to be helpful. Unfortunately this Commack Whole Foods market is disorganized and the youngsters don't know where items are. Idk what is going on at this store , not sure if it's just THIS particular one or a trend for Whole Foods overall . I certainly hope not. When I first started shopping there ( downtown NYC it was always " an experience" the sales associates were all so highly knowledgeable and treated each shopper as a treasured client ! My experience at the Commack store has been like shopping at a Walmart ( I LOVE Walmart but ones expectation of Walmart is very different than what I hope to find at Whole Foods! I feel like I'm interrupting or bothering whomever I happen to ask for help . They're either more focused on stocking shelves or chatting with co workers . I'm very disheartened to find this. My review is certainly not based on 1 bad experience , it's just about every time I enter. I'd hope that the people hiring and training see this so perhaps they could redirect the store . I am at Whole Foods Market once a week for over 25 years. I spend around $200 to $250. I bought Chilean sea bass and cooked it the same day. I knew it when I saw the skin was removed from the back and it smelled very bad. We buy this fish very often. My family and I have eaten fish our whole lives, so we know when a fish is bad. I only buy fish from WFM, I had bought salmon a while back and it was bad I threw it away and I never bothered to call. I said this is the second time let me call the store. I called and spoked to the Store Manager Lorraine, she told me that she has to look at the receipt and the video to see if the fish was bad. It was only $50, the money is not important to me, you could take the money and donate to a Cancer research or any charities. It is the principle, if the fish is bad, you refund the money to the customer. I should know better. The Commack store is not busy. I guess I'll head back to the Jericho store because that's where I get most of my fish. I worked for Whole Foods for three years. I worked with her too you think she will have a little bit of trust in me. she has her favorites. She either likes you or hates you. I can't believe she is still a team leader and running the store. I recalled while working for her, an employee handicap/special needs, had parked in the front of the supermarket, and she made me fire him. I never live that day down. Plus, the way she treats/talks to her employees is unbearable. As a Store Manager Supermarket i would never give a response like the one she gave me. I will give response: "It happens time to time, and to come in for a refund" (without video investigation). It's no Wegmans, but it's the closest thing we'll get to one on Long Island so I was very excited when I heard this location was opening in Commack. I frequent the Whole Foods in Jericho and this one blows Jericho's location out of the water. Aesthetics alone, the store front is absolutely beautiful and the parking is much better. Upon entering you have big carts, small carts and hand carriers. The feel once inside, feels Walmart-y. In he sense that the light is super super bright and it feels like a super center compared to the other Whole Foods stores I've been in. With that being said, it didn't bother me once I stepped on up to their produce section and enjoyed being able to pick up any package of fruit and not have to inspect it for bumps, dents and mold. Everything here is good, fresh, bruise free. It's exhausting having to sort through every package of strawberries to find a decent mix. Speaking of strawberries, $3 for a package of organic strawberries is a steal. Better prices than Fairway, Trader Joes, Shop Rite, Stop and Shop, basically the best price for organic strawberries you'll find anywhere else, provided you have Amazon Prime. Their organic blueberries price compares with other stores as does their other fruit and vegetables for the most part. I tend to avoid buying washed, cut and clean pre-packaged fruits and vegetables just because they tend to be more expensive, but if money isn't an option they have every fruit and veggie you could ever want ready to go. You have to shop smart here, for example, their spiraled zucchini is about $2-3 more than the cost at Trader Joes. I mean it's Whole Foods, it's the best of the best products here so don't be alarmed when certain products are more expensive than others. Their customer service counter seems to be well run. As long as you have your receipt, the return transaction went smoothly. They have plenty of cashiers working the lines so I haven't found myself waiting too long. They also have a few self checkout registers as well. They have an area to sit and enjoy your food if you grab from their prepared foods section. They also have a pizza parlor that I haven't stepped into yet but it looks cool from afar. This is a great addition to this shopping center! read more

Whole Foods is now open in Commack! I don't do much of my shopping at Whole Foods, but I do occasionally visit, so it was nice to see a brand new location open near me. And it's probably the best Whole Foods location I've seen so far. They have everything a normal Whole Foods has including the mochi ice cream bar and a really nice bakery and cheese section. While it looks small, their cheese selection is quite good and includes my favorite Old Chatham Sheepherding Co's Hudson Valley Camembert, which is something I normally have to go all the way to Murray's Cheese in Greenwich Village to get. There's also a fresh pasta bar where you can buy freshly made pasta by the pound to cook at home. There's a salad dressing machine that custom blends flavored olive oils and balsalmic vinegar to your chosen ratios. Like that Hudson Valley Camembert, this Whole Foods is a great place to pick up local made-in-NY items. I was impressed with how much of the store was from local small companies located somewhere in New York. Whole Foods always has an emphasis on stocking local items, but this store seems to do a particularly good job. It might just be that there happens to be so many small independent companies in NY that make great cheese, hummus, sausage, yogurt, and more, but it is such a great feeling walking down the aisles exploring these products you normally would not see. I picked up some greek yogurt made in Southampton, NY. I also got a pint of earl gray ice cream from Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream from Manhattan. It took restraint to not go crazy and pick up pickles and salsa and chips, all made within 20 miles of Commack. Their hot food bar and soup bar seemed standard. There were quite a few people purchasing from the hot food bar, so the food all seemed fresh. There's an on-site pizza restaurant with a nice pizza oven, so you can go get freshly made whole pies or you can buy slices from the hot bar. I was surprised to see a stir fry station, something I had never seen at Whole Foods before. I couldn't resist and ended up having dinner here. For $12, you choose a protein (beef, chicken, or shrimp), a noodle type, and a sauce. You get a bowl and fill it up with vegetables from a large selection of fresh produce. A veggie only option is available for $10. I chose beef and rice noodles with teriyaki sauce. My bowl was filled with kale, edamame, mushrooms, carrots, onions, green onions, and eggplant. It was freshly cooked up on the flat top. I was very impressed by the quality of the meal. I was expecting just slices of beef that would be sort of dry, but it was actually really nicely braised and flavorful beef that was fork tender. I live alone and, to make this same thing at home, would cost me more than the $12 I paid Whole Foods to be able to buy the variety of ingredients I was able to choose from. Prices are coming down now that they're owned by Amazon, but can still be quite high if you try to do all your shopping here. Produce tends to be expensive, but you pay for the quality. They do have plenty of items on sale and Amazon Prime members have special pricing on certain items as well as an extra 10% off any yellow-tagged sale items. Don't try to do all your shopping here. Treat it as a farmer's market. Just walk up and down the aisles and see what is on sale and just buy those things each trip. It was so much fun just browsing and buying what I felt was priced well. The Van Leeuwen ice cream was on sale for $4.99 and I got an extra discount as an Amazon Prime member, bringing it down to $4.50. That's cheaper than actually going to Van Leeuwen in Manhattan and buying a scoop. read more

I have been going to this store from the first day they opened up... never had a problem on till today. went to the butcher department , I asked for a small piece of Boston Pork roast, the butcher said okay sure, then the team leader stopped him , tells him that he can't cut me a small piece I need to buy the whole 3 pounds piece. the price label is $6.99 per pound. aga I told the team leader that I only want a pound of meat , he tells me absolutely not the whole piece or nothing! Sadly I left the with out the piece of meat for my dinner! never going back again!!!! read more

Quality of produce has gone downhill fast since Bezos bought it. ei: 2 leaves of collard greens on the outside and 3 small yellowed one in between ready for the trash. Variety is also dwindling, replaced by house generic brands. Sourcing issues? Hard to tell. Local produce much more for less and fresh when available. There's beautiful fresh made pasta, a make your own salad dressing station and all the usual great quality fruits and veggies. The have a great butcher complete with grass fed quality beef and a super fish monger. Let's not forget the bakery. Fabulous breads and delicious pastries. HORRIBLE customer service. Every other whole foods i've been to, the employees have been so helpful and willing to go above and beyond. The employees here don't even look at you in your eyes and talk to each other while ringing you up. When asking employees to help they seem like you are seriously inconveniencing them. When I spoke to the manager about it he had the same exact attitude. They were out of stock of a certain item and I came by numerous times to see if they restocked and they hadn't. I asked them if they could please call me when they get it in so I didn't have to keep coming back to check to which they responded "we don't do that". Okay. There is a very handsome young man that works in the cheese department at this location, I believe his name is Taylor. He is always smiling, extremely polite, pleasant, helpful and professional. He always gives his honest opinion when I inquire about different products, and helps me find what I'm looking for, no problem. He also is extremely patient and will spend time with me to figure out what would go best with everything else I am making; for whatever occasion it may be. I haven't seen him there in a little while, and I'll be honest, I'm a little disappointed. He deserved a raise and a promotion- I always thought he was the manager! He should've been!
