They have a good amount of used books but they also have new books. So be aware when you're purchasing books. Which ones are new and which ones are used. They don't have prices in most books so be very cognitive of what you're picking up. Don't go in expecting there is going to be all used books at used bookstore prices. I have to say this is one of the largest used bookstars visited here in central Florida. The store itself is very organized and has many selections to choose from. For well-known authors. They do have those marked on the shelves so keep an eye out for those well-known names. They also have two for babies running around and playing within the store. So if you are not a cat person or allergic, you may want to take allergy medicine or not visit at all. They have a big selection of rare and signed books. I have to return to fully check those sections out. They also sell more than books. They do sell records and knick-knacks in the store. They also sell DVDs. The staff are very friendly. They greet you as you're entering the store. And they do a great job of maintaining the bookstore as well as their fur babies. Honestly paying 30 bucks for Kristen Hannah's the women's book and 14 bucks for Abby Jimenez say you'll remember book. I feel we're a bit overpriced. Especially the Kristen Hannah book. I think the only reasons I'd come here again would be to buy they're rare or old books.

Cliff specializes in horror, sci-fi, mystery, comics, but carries at least something from just about any other genre you can think of. Some of the older more rare books are kept in a thin plastic protectors to preserve them, and are neatly organized onto shelves. Cliff also sells a variety of collectable glassware and toys. It's best to let Cliff know what you are looking for so he can direct you to the right location. I asked him where he keeps music books and he took me right to the spot then informed me that the entire bottom shelf was full of them, but I would need to dig a little since there was three more stacks of music-related books in front of the shelf; I was in heaven, lol! There was a lot to sift through and I didn't even see it all because my wife was pulling me out before I get deep in it. Regardless, I decided on purchasing three music books: Hits of the 90's for $6; Casio Piano sound Music Library Piano Scores for $8; and Guns N' Roses Anthology for Guitar for $15. When I went to check out, I asked Cliff if he could sell me all three for $25 and he said no problem. Then he got distracted with another customer for a minute and came back to me and asked "what was I charging you again," and I replied $25 and started to pull out cash and he said "Lets just make it an even $20," wow, what an awesome guy! Thank you, Cliff! Cliff also hosts big comic events in the DeLand area, so if your interested in those types events I recommend checking out his Instagram or Facebook page since the main website is a bit outdated with all of his happenings. All-in-all, a great book store and I recommend Cliff's if you are a book lover and are in the area shopping. I will be back!

Employees recommendations on the shelves call out individual titles. Lots of tables display trade paperbacks and hardcovers devoted to a particular theme or sale. One labeled "Five Star Fiction" presented well-reviewed new releases. If you order from the cafe look for a book near the register that's on sale for $5 with a purchase. I usually prefer used bookstores to new ones but this palatial Barnes & Noble is worth the stop. It's at the same I-95 exit as Buc-ee's.

I've been coming to Maya Books and Music for years and always find something good when I stop in…read more The store is clean, orderly, and the book sections are clearly displayed; however, it doesn't hurt to ask for help from the owner, she knows where everything is. On my most previous visit I was looking specifically for piano sheet music, and the owner informed me they were upstairs in a basket under the W-X & Y-Z section of Rock CD's, and sure enough, they were exactly where she said they were. Luckily for me I found two books in great condition - Bach Short Preludes and Fugues for the Piano for $3.95 and Bella Bartok Mikrokosmos Piano Solo Vol III for $3.50, great deal! There is also a variety of other instrument sheet music for clarinet, trumpet, guitar, mandolin, and more in this section. They have a great variety of used music CD's and Vinyl's upstairs for sale at a reasonable price. I've purchased CD's from here for $4 and less, but some could be higher if they are rare or brand new in the cellophane wrap. I haven't purchased any Vinyl's but they do have a decent selection. There are also a variety of posters and old collectable magazines here for sale, which is cool. I actually have some of the Guitar Magazine ones they are selling for $25 and more. The owner informed me that she acquired a much larger store in another state and will have a lot more books and other items coming after the New Year, so be sure to stop in and see what they have to offer. Something to note is the owner is not flexible with pricing so I don't recommend trying to get a better price by buying multiple items and talking her down, it just wont work. Another thing is there is really nowhere to sit down to read for a few minutes to see if you want to buy a book your interested in, even if you try, you quickly become crowded in by other shoppers trying to get around you. All-in-all, Maya Books and Music provide a fun shopping experience if you're a book lover and just happen to be in Downtown Sanford Shopping. I highly recommend stopping in to check them out.

I can't believe I haven't written a review of Maya Books & Music yet...this is one of my favorite…read morespots in Sanford. It's cozy, charming and a must-visit for book lovers. I have found some wonderful books here and if you go upstairs you'll find all sorts of records. To me the books are well priced, and the owner is always so so welcoming! Before writing my review I did read some other reviews about people trying to ask for price matching, which honestly I find weird to do with a small book shop (do it to the corporate businesses, not the small shops - but that's just my opinion). I also don't think the owner does price matching or accept any haggling as I did overhear her telling a couple she did not. Anyways a great book shop to visit and if you love to support local shops, this is one to visit and support!
