The McAninch Arts Center (MAC) at College of DuPage (COD) in Glen Ellyn, IL, is a vibrant hub for…read morethe performing and visual arts, offering an array of professional theater, music, dance, comedy, and family-friendly performances. While the MAC hosts a wide range of cultural programming year-round, what has drawn us back time and again, now three times, are their exceptional, large-scale art exhibitions, presented every two years. The most recent of these is the 2025 exhibition Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: The Floating World (on view from May 31 to September 21). This immersive experience transports visitors to the lively and refined world of 17th-century Edo-period Japan. The exhibit vividly captures a time when Edo (present-day Tokyo) thrived as the cultural and economic heart of the nation, defined by its devotion to the arts, nature, and the pleasures of daily life. A highlight of the exhibition is the U.S. debut of the Museum Galleries - Chiossone Collection, featuring a remarkable 70-piece selection of ukiyo-e masterpieces. Among these are 53 original paintings and woodblock prints by renowned artists such as Hokusai and Hiroshige, alongside 17 beautifully crafted objects. Together, they offer a captivating window into Japan's "floating world." The MAC consistently excels in delivering these world-class exhibitions. The experience is not only visually stunning but also engaging and educational. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and always ready to enhance your visit. Last, but not the least, there is a very nice gift shop there. We bought some cute Japanese noodles and rice bowls with the "floating world" art theme from the gift shop. Attending an art exhibition there is truly a joy, and we look forward to each new one.

Was finally able to find it by searching McAninch Arts Center (MAC). The exhibit is cool, loved the eki (train station) stamps for the passport you're given. I wasn't expecting much and it lived up to expectations. After experiencing it do I think it was worth the $27/per person admission? Not for me. But it's still cool and definitely worth a visit if you're an art enthusiast.

She did a very nice job, and seemed to be well received by her coworkers, and the audience. Finding Wheaton Drama was a little hard, and parking was a little tight, I didn't mind the walk. But the employees there were very friendly, and enthusiastic. Nothing there was overly priced or outrageous. I would go again. As I said before, the theater is a little on the smaller side and people in the front row tend to find themselves actually walking on the stage as they enter & exit which almost seems rather discourteous since they have lines painted on the floor. I just think that that's bad luck even though it's concrete and it's painted, I tried to make sure that I was definitely off the designated stage area because I think thats asking for bad karma. But in today's world , people are so full of themselves that there are no boundaries anymore.

Bandleader Dave Farley and Orchestra 33 are absolutely fabulous. I hired them for my wedding…read moreceremony and reception on October 2 and they were the hit of the night. I HIGHLY recommend them. Dave responded promptly to my initial inquiry last winter. Over the course of the year we exchanged emails and phone calls. He sent me a detailed questionnaire which was a huge help in planning the timeline for the evening. They provided a string quartet for my ceremony, jazz during cocktails, piano during dinner, and a 9-piece band during the reception. This amount and quality of entertainment doesn't come cheap, but it's worth every penny. Definitely go to their website. They have song clips available that illustrate just how dead-on their sound is. I hired them because they can do La Bouche, Katy Perry, The Supremes, Sam Cooke, and Beyonce without batting an eye. The band was happy to learn the obscure song we chose for our first dance. They also gave us some beautiful suggestions for ceremony music (courtesy of Dave's classical music specialist, aka his wife! so cute). Many guests have said the highlight of the night was when a singer from the band came out onto the packed dance floor during "Shout!" This band knows how to gage a crowd and have fun while keeping the evening flowing smoothly. They graciously accepted a couple of last minute changes and even allowed us to pump iPod music through their speakers after the set was done so we could all sway to "American Pie" while they packed up. Orchestra 33 provides first class entertainment that will make any event fun and memorable. They were the single best decision I made while planning my wedding (besides saying yes to my husband of course).

I love Wheaton College Artist Series! For 72 years, Wheaton College Artist Series has introduced…read moreits audiences to the world's best live music and dance from classical and folk traditions. This season will start with a concert presented by the acclaimed Boston Brass, a quintet of two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. It will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 in the new 650-seat, acoustically engineered Armerding Concert Hall located at 520 E. Kenilworth Avenue in Wheaton. I learned that Wheaton College Artist Series offers a convenient new ticketing program with a six-concert subscription and a three-concert subscription. All subscribers will receive preferred seating throughout the season, priority booking for Artist Series events, with the choice of a three- or six-concert package. Interestingly, six-concert subscribers will receive maximum savings off individual ticket prices, discounts to the Wheaton College Christmas Festival, the new Wheatie Card for discounts at local restaurants and businesses, and a discounted rate for dinner at Anderson Commons' highly-rated Bon Appetit. Please, support Wheaton College Artist Series by purchasing tickets and you will never regret you did it!

I've seen the CSO here as well as a guest conductor (Leonard Slatkin) and last night the Opole Philharmonic. I scored tickets for last night through Living Social. 2 tickets in the 8th row for $15. Even without that deal, the ticket prices are very reasonable. The place these artists perform is actually the chapel. So you will see religious signs on the wall. There really isn't much of a lobby to speak of. They do have a coat check room and restrooms, but they are VERY small (3 stalls ladies), so the lines can get long during intermission. They do not have any food or drinks available. They do open the campus dining up before an event. Before you start remembering your college food experience and shuddering, know that Wheaton College's campus food is ranked in the top 5 of all college campuses! A final note on these events. They are well attended by seniors. Don't get put off by that, they are very friendly. Towards the end of last night's performance I was holding back a cough so much it made my eyes water. The older woman next to me picked up what was going on and whipped out a few tootsie rolls and offered them to me!
