I would certainly have rented another venue if I had read the reviews first. With that being said, hopefully this can help someone else before they rent this venue. My fiancé dealt with one of the owners during the duration of our wedding planning. She was very difficult to get in touch with and took her time returning phone calls or text messages. She also continued to nickel and dime us for everything. Any and everything we wanted was extra. We wanted to have a champagne toast and the owner would not let us bring in our own champagne or bartender. They charged us $200 for 5 bottles of champagne and to serve it, which took all of about 15 minutes. When we originally met one of the owners to look at the venue, everything seemed to be very good and she seemed to be very helpful. She stated that she would be happy to give us some names and numbers of some wedding vendors as she knew several that she could recommend. She gave us the names and numbers, but we did the work to call them and decide whether we wanted to use them or not. Later, after the wedding, she stated that she should have charged us for wedding planning since she helped us so much. I don't feel that she did the wedding planning for our wedding, she only gave us names and numbers of vendors that we could call. The day of our wedding, she came to the place and started yelling at my fiancé and the caterer saying that we could not use the kitchen as we only rented the other side. Seriously, she knew we had a caterer and we had to use the microwave. She finally let the caterer use the microwave on a table outside the kitchen as she locked up the kitchen. We were to be out of the building at 6:00pm. As a married couple, we left earlier than everyone else. We left several responsible adults to stay and clean up and they did. When we talked to the owner at 6:00pm she said we left the place a mess, which was certainly not the truth. We asked if my daughter could come in and fix anything that she felt was not right and she said "No". I would highly suggest taking pictures of everything before you leave, as she kept part of our deposit. The pictures that she took and showed my husband were of one rose petal on a table and one ribbon on the floor. I would not recommend using this facility unless you cover yourself completely or it very likely that you will not get your deposit back!! The owner that we dealt with was very unprofessional and I would never use this facility again.

A chair blocking entrance to rooms suggests "STAY OUT" and presents an unwelcoming and unflattering picture to say the least. Attempts at hospitality were shattered on some many fronts on Saturday. In any customer based business the old adage , you only get one chance to make a good first impression, rings true. Your venue offers such a wide range of options. A lawn ceremony, a wide sweeping tour of the home, the gazebo are all good options and would show off your estate to the max. You have a beautiful staircase and wonderful antique effects that many guests missed because of their confinement to the RENTED ROOM.

Just attended a wedding at Ray's last week. The ceremony was beautiful, however, the reception left something to be desired. The owners seemed to be overly concerned with money, at one point entering the room and counting heads! There were several discrepancies concerning guests taking food from the venue. Even if it is policy to not allow food to be taken, the message could have been conveyed in a more professional manner. One guest even commented that" seems like they don't want us here" So sad, this venue has so much potential but the small mindedness of the owners is blocking it. Ray's, don't worry, you will get paid!!!! The home could have gained more attention if it were not for the chairs blocking the doors to other parts of the home. Guests felt as if they were confined to the one room the couple had rented. Wow, what a wasted marketing moment!
