We hired Brenda on a Monday, she had the photographer at my mom's house on Tuesday, listed her house on Wednesday, and we received our first offer on Friday. We allowed realtors/potential buyers to view her house over the weekend and accepted an offer on Monday. The craziest part about it was that Brenda's daughter was getting married that same Saturday we allowed agents/buyers in. She didn't skip a beat. It was miraculous! This was the first time I've ever sold a home, so I was very nervous. Though she had her own distractions in life, she didn't break stride. Brenda held my hand throughout the entire process and ensured my mom was taken care of as well (giving us referrals for movers, cleaners, etc.). If you're like me, over-researching realtors, STOP. Ben spent lot of time telling me how Sotheby's has only the best, most trustworthy referrals. I was directed to an absolutely unscrupulous contractor (Paul T*ylor -"handyman"), who was arrogant and a bully. Come to find out: He doesn't even have a license! He worded everything ambiguously to steal more money than he agreed to. Paul, the handyman, spent a good deal of time on the phone with the company he purchased a part from to help him install. The whole thing was so outrageous, I couldn't help but feel there had to be an agreement between them... at the clients' expense. Total hustle. Not only did he charge more than what we agreed; IT DOESN'T WORK. $800? Agreed to $500. Monkeying around and getting hostile with women in their own home! (Do yourself a favor and look up Paul T.; sadly, I just believed Ben.) Ben disappeared. Looks like a pretty basic scamming. Watch every single person, thing and arrangement you do with this team. If you want to feel like a second class citizen when you are spending 1.5million on a home and putting 1 million of your savings down then this is the Realitor group to go with! From the start of the process we were told that all furniture was ours after agreeing to paying over asking Stacie's exact words were "done it's all yours". During inspection we mention how a piece is already ours and Stacie says nope "none of it is" from that point we should of went and hired someone else because the lies just kept coming. It got to the point that communication with Stacie was only texts with "thumbs up" the most unprofessional communication I have seen. I'm sure this review is going to cost me the TV she said she would buy us because of her lying and telling us the TV in the home we were buying was ours in the deal when it really wasn't but would rather save buyers from this group then have any TV. It's was so bad that we are selling our other home and using a different realtor group for that sell! If you are moving from far away to Claremont, the best way to go is with a trusted real estate agent. We tried using Craigslist and various web sites, but we ran into the issues such as places not being posted until a week before, outdated listings, agents that wanted to charge for access to listings, places being rented very quickly, and last but not least, multiple scams that we fortunately identified and avoided. From our experience, I can highly recommend Curtis Real estate, in particular realtor John Baldwin. John went above and beyond to help us find the right place. For example, to bridge the gap he kindly went to various rentals and shot videos with his flip-cam and uploaded them for us to review, which as absolutely amazing! Since he's been working in Claremont for some time now, he was also able to give us the low down and history on many of the rentals, the landlords and the neighborhoods. We found him very easy going, on top of things, extremely helpful and honest. In the end, he landed us an absolutely great place, with more room than we expected a great landlady and wonderful neighborhood, all within our designated budget.
