In retrospect, it feels like the seminar was offered solely to fish for the contact info of potential sellers. After the seminar (and after getting our contact information), he bombarded us with calls during daytime work hours to "persuade" us to sell our property. Mr. Tan promised to arrange/coordinate the home repairs so that we could sell the property without much fuss. Due to his continual calls and promises, eventually we gave in and signed the listing contract. After signing, he sent a handyman without license to discuss the repairs, which was totally not what we expected. When we requested a phone conversation with Mr. Tan to clarify the concern, he just dismissed it with a single line email reply. After repeated requests, we had a phone conversation and were given the promise of a TODO list and cost breakdown for the property preparation. But we didn't get any of them until another 3-4 days later. Eventually we were fed up and decided we did not want to move forward with Mr. Tan. Only about one week after we signed the listing contract, we asked for cancellation of the listing contract before he arranges property inspection and MLS listing. Even though it seems like he had not done anything, he refused to cancel the contract, and tried to keep us on the hook indefinitely by offering to put "the contract on hold until we are ready to sell the property" with him. This is our first time trying to sell the property, but it has been an unpleasant experience working with Mr. Tan. After this transaction, we do not plan on ever using him again and it would be our opinion that everyone else should avoid using him as well.
