Stopped in to see Scrooge tonight by a great little company. Do yourself a favor and bring the family. You won't be disappointed. The actor playing Scrooge is in his 44th season. Simply amazing!!

Visiting Nevada City which we adore especially during the holidays. Grabbed tix for "Scrooge" at Harmony Books on Union Street $22. The actors in this play were superb. Even the child actor who played Tiny Tim impressed us. Small intimate theater. Seats must be comfy because I never once thought about my comfort. Maybe I was that mesmerized by this play.

Terrible and Disrespectful Experience at Onyx Theater…read more I took three senior citizens to the Onyx Theater to see what we believed was a movie about the band Nirvana, since my sister was a big Nirvana fan and the group was excited to see it. The movie was titled "Nirvanna: The Band - The Show - The Movie." We spent nearly $100 to get in and $100 on food there, went into the theater, and within the first ten minutes realized it was not about the band Nirvana at all, but instead about two comedians pretending to be in a band with a similar name. We immediately went back to the front to explain the misunderstanding and politely asked for a refund. Instead of showing any understanding, the staff began criticizing the three seniors for not noticing that "Nirvanna" was spelled with two N's instead of one. They acted as if these seniors were foolish for not catching the subtle spelling difference (one N vs. two N's), which was incredibly rude and unnecessary. The way they treated them was insulting, embarrassing, and completely lacking in class. A simple misunderstanding turned into a humiliating experience because of how dismissive and condescending the staff was. One star for a truly terrible experience and shockingly rude customer service.

November 11, 2025…read more First of all, a great 2025 Veteran Day to all. November 11, 1918 the eleventh hour Military time 1100 so eleven oh clock a.m. the treaty was signed, it ended the violence at that time. To all that served, to all those that are still serving, thank you! I represent USA Navy, but other branches are just as important! When the Military songs are played, yes I stood for Anchors Away for USA Navy! Update now one thousand three hundred eighty of any comments! After the Veteran Day 2025 parade, I went into Baked And Brewed. Cost $9.60 with tax instead $10.78 with tax because I pay cash instead using Crediting Cards! From there, went to an area that by way of Auburn State Theater is showing The Great Escape! The theater still being repaired, still being renovated! Therefore this movie sponsored by Auburn State Theater is being shown at this other location! Yes it is still sponsored by Auburn State Theater! Free popcorn other refreshments are a small cost! Many people did show up for this movie! Best of luck to this Auburn State Theater! My previous of this comment for Auburn State Theater has total thirty one USEFUL, FUNNY, COOL votes! Best of luck to the theater, to the employees, to the volunteers of this wonderful theater in town Auburn, California, that is Placer County! It will be nice when all the repairs and all the renovations are finished!

The Auburn State Theatre is such a treasure…read more Built in 1930, the historic venue is a modification of its original version. Gone is the balcony seating and additional screens from decades before. It is now a singular 350-seat non-profit theatre run by friendly volunteers. As I write this, the theatre is temporarily closed for some needed repairs and restoration work. I seriously cannot wait until it reopens, as I come here pretty regularly with friends to enjoy the adventure documentaries that this theatre prominently features. The State Theatre is always super clean, the seats are comfortable, and there truly isn't a bad view of the screen anywhere you sit. Plus, the volunteers make really good popcorn and serve local beer and wine at reasonable prices - all to benefit this fantastic historic theater. I've seen several inspiring films here, but a recent screening of "Buried: The 1982 Alpine Meadows Avalanche" was particularly moving for me as it was also followed by a Q&A with not only the filmmaker but also a few key people from the documentary. I really look forward to seeing more amazing films at this historic theatre and encourage everyone to check them out when they reopen!

Danil was great with the subtle upsell. Full but that extra .50 he tried to offer on the popcorn made sense. One drawback I will say is I went to the restroom three times and there was No toilet paper in the restroom two out of the three times and the bathroom was a bit yuck. Overall, we had a really good movie experience here. The lines for popcorn weren't long at all, which is always a plus. This was also my first time at a theater where you serve yourself your own drinks and ICEEs. I've never experienced that before, but I actually liked being able to make my own drink exactly how I wanted it. The theater itself was comfortable. Our recliners worked perfectly, the temperature inside was just right, and everything made it easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the movie. Spider-Man ended up being a good movie, and this turned into another great date experience for me and my girl. If we're ever back in the Roseville area and want to catch a movie, this is definitely the theater we'll be coming back to!

I want to commend your employees and I want to commend your volunteers! They in my own opinion, they did an excellent job to be sure all Guests if Guests is correct word, were evacuated in an orderly way! Eventually all the Guests were able to return to the respective auditoriums to finish seeing their different movies. My auditorium for Song Sung Blues had fifty four Guests! Best of luck to your movie house. Best of luck to your employees! Best of luck to your volunteers! Also, noticed a silly comment from a previous visitor. As movie goers we should all understand that movie times are "delayed" due to previews. Please, Just adjust your arrival time if you don't want to sit thru them. It's not the local independent theatres fault that previews are so long. They are just trying to make it possible for us to enjoy films - be nice to them.
