Two staffs working in the counter are super friendly and nice to help. The environment is small but is clean and quiet. Nice place!

The Onyx is a wonderful theater that's for patrons 21 and up. I almost exclusively see movies here…read more There are 2 screens that have about 30 seats each. They are open every day of the year. The Onyx shows indie films and main stream movies too. One of the things I find charming is the way someone always walks into the theater to introduce the movie just before the previews start. The Onyx sells candy and popcorn (last I checked it was organic popcorn) They offer wine and other beverages too. Popcorn and wine are a surprisingly nice combination!

Terrible and Disrespectful Experience at Onyx Theater…read more I took three senior citizens to the Onyx Theater to see what we believed was a movie about the band Nirvana, since my sister was a big Nirvana fan and the group was excited to see it. The movie was titled "Nirvanna: The Band - The Show - The Movie." We spent nearly $100 to get in and $100 on food there, went into the theater, and within the first ten minutes realized it was not about the band Nirvana at all, but instead about two comedians pretending to be in a band with a similar name. We immediately went back to the front to explain the misunderstanding and politely asked for a refund. Instead of showing any understanding, the staff began criticizing the three seniors for not noticing that "Nirvanna" was spelled with two N's instead of one. They acted as if these seniors were foolish for not catching the subtle spelling difference (one N vs. two N's), which was incredibly rude and unnecessary. The way they treated them was insulting, embarrassing, and completely lacking in class. A simple misunderstanding turned into a humiliating experience because of how dismissive and condescending the staff was. One star for a truly terrible experience and shockingly rude customer service.

Came here to finally see the movie my boyfriend has been excited and talking about since January…read more The movie was great. Before the film we stopped to grab our obligatory snacks. Danil was great with the subtle upsell. Full but that extra .50 he tried to offer on the popcorn made sense. One drawback I will say is I went to the restroom three times and there was No toilet paper in the restroom two out of the three times and the bathroom was a bit yuck. I've been to this theatre one other time and will definitely return if in the area

Overall, we had a really good movie experience here. The lines for popcorn weren't long at all, which is always a plus. This was also my first time at a theater where you serve yourself your own drinks and ICEEs. I've never experienced that before, but I actually liked being able to make my own drink exactly how I wanted it. The theater itself was comfortable. Our recliners worked perfectly, the temperature inside was just right, and everything made it easy to sit back, relax, and enjoy the movie. Spider-Man ended up being a good movie, and this turned into another great date experience for me and my girl. If we're ever back in the Roseville area and want to catch a movie, this is definitely the theater we'll be coming back to!

Spider-Man in 3D?! Yes, please! We decided to catch a showing here in Auburn, and the movie was…read moresooo good! I highly recommend seeing Spider-Man in 3D! What an awesome experience... the 3D really made the action come alive! But as much as I could talk about Spider-Man, this review is really about our experience at the theater itself. This is definitely one of the smaller theaters I have been to, but it was easy enough to get in and check ourselves in. Since we were seeing a 3D movie, the glasses were available right at the check-in table, so we simply grabbed a pair on our way through. After checking ourselves in, we stopped by the concession stand. They had the usual movie theater snacks and drinks available, but we only grabbed one soda this time. This was really our only interaction with an employee before the movie, and then we headed into Theater 6. Theater 6 was pretty small, not necessarily that particular theater, but once we got settled in, it definitely felt more cramped than some of the larger theaters I've been to. There aren't any reclining chairs either... and maybe I'm just a little spoiled, lol, but I've definitely gotten used to those! That's okay though. The theater was clean, which is always something I appreciate, and we were comfortable enough to sit back and enjoy the movie. The 3D experience itself was great, especially for a movie like Spider-Man. There's just something extra fun about watching all that action coming right at you! The drops, the heights, the action... makes you kind of hold your breath when they're coming towards you. Other than our quick interaction at the concession stand, we really didn't have much interaction with the staff. On our way out at the end of the night, one employee did tell us to have a good night, which was a nice way to end our visit. It's a smaller, more basic theater that gets the job done. I wouldn't come expecting the big, spacious luxury theater experience, but if you're in the Auburn area and looking to catch a movie, it's a perfectly good option. While other movie theaters were packed, this one had plenty of open seating for a last minute movie date... If there was a movie you wanted to experience in 3D, Spiderman is that movie! Go! Just do it! If you've already seen it, it's ok! Just go again but DO IT IN 3D!!!! (I know quite a few people who have seen Spiderman 3 or more times, lol, and they say 3D was the best way to watch it)

There was a big aisle in front of this row so you could stretch out your legs. Rows B and A seemed even further down. The 2nd floor projection room was neat to see before the showing, especially the giant reels of film! Fila scored a free large buttered popcorn after filling out a survey from a previous visit, and they even put the refill in a tray for us to share. The only two Icee flavors they had were blue raspberry and Coca-Cola; the white cherry was all out. I also got a salted jumbo pretzel with cheese, although this must have been under the heat lamps too long as it was more crispy than soft. The only preview shown was for Dune 3. Note that this was not a 3D or 4DX showing, but one of only 25 theaters in the US that could show the full 70mm projection 1.43:1 aspect ratio. The seats are rocker not recline, and the angle of our seat view was not ideal since the screen was curved, especially for such a long movie, but the 60'x80' screen plus surround sound was epic. Lots of movie posters and a cardboard display, although sadly when the movie was finished, the exterior neon lights for the Esquire were not lit up along K Street. City garage parking recommended, although for the Esquire's lot you specifically need the Metropolis App.

Make sure you grab your snacks early as the line can get long. Their team has the snack bar flow down to a science. Order, pay and move along. Patience and planning is key. This theater is nostalgic and has the original movie aesthetic which is charming. The screen was huge!!!! Sound could be a tiny bit improved to hear the dialogue of those speaking in the beginning but it was worked out later on. The seats are interesting too as they don't roll back but have a spring if you wish to lean a bit. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and plan to come back for more IMAX showings.

I had to watch Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in a large screen. Wanted to watch it in an IMAX…read moretheater but some co-workers suggest I try out the 4DX format. My son and I, haven't been at this theater for years now since the Cinemark recliners invaded the area. In a nutshell, this theater restricts age (4 yrs old) & height (42 inches) and doesn't recommended pregnant folk, the elderly, or anyone with high BP, heart issues, or severe back/neck conditions. They even encourage that drinks should be secured with lids. We didn't have our usual popcorn bucket either as we were forewarned that they might just end up on the floor. It was a different movie experience that very much reminded me of the Shrek 4-D ride at Universal Studios... but more. These seats perform point-of-impact vibrations (like the D-Box) but moves (rolls, pitch & lifts) and shoots mists to the viewer. It even mimics inclement weather conditions with localized water sprays, gentle breezes, falling snow, billowing fog and strobe flashes mimicking lightning. We also noticed a scent during the ocean scenes that I was told was sea salt. This was an eventful movie experience that I would surely try again though I may not suggest it to the easily carsick individuals. Having known this cineplex as UA Olympus Pointe before, they surely gave this place a makeover with retrofitted screen formats like the IMAX (smaller than downtown's Esquire) and ScreenX (270° screen). The concession area, the restrooms and the hallways still looks outdated. They did add new arcade games which certainly modernized the lobby a tad.

Right near the mall . Yet they seem to run out of everything on a Monday evening. 1. Soda machines & slushees - not working carbonator is broken. 2. Peanut m&ms - out of them 3. Food- not edible 4. Cleanliness is not a strong suit here. Bathroom is out of paper towels.. this inclines people to not wash their hands ... 5. Popcorn EVERYWHERE. Management.. fix it . Do it for the teenagers who go to the mall and see a movie after.
