I used to see this conservative leaning rag newspaper in newsstands and bins across the city but now it's only an online site as the print editions ceased operations in 2008 after a short run where its circulation audit was shady at best, and they were not making a profit. First off I get my news from television and second I don't trust many newspapers except maybe the New York Times for the most part. I can definitely understand the 1 Star reviews. NY Sun has scammed out of $120. I subscribed for a year, then it auto-renewed on my card, charging me $120. I did not want to be charged again for next year, so I canceled, as is normal procedure with subscriptions that are on auto-renew. Right after doing that, I lost access to my subscription for which I paid for the entire next year. They have ignored my numerous requests to either reinstate my subscription or refund my money. It would cost them nothing or next to nothing to reinstate the subscription I paid for. After seeing all these complaints I can only conclude there is something very wrong over at that paper. Did the penny a day starter subscription and you know... sometimes a penny is just too damn expensive. As a digital only rag the editorial content ranges from adequate to amateurish, which is blunt confirmation that you get what you pay for. Sadly, trying to cancel is an exercise in futility as their setup is strictly "don't call us, we'll call you." This Sun is extremely dim and richly deserves one star. read more

I fell for the come-on of $0.01 to try them out. The offer said that I could cancel at anytime. They charged my card $120.00 at the end of 60 days. I decided to cancel and hit a brick wall. They have cancelled my access but continue to try to get me to re-up. I have found it impossible to contact them, all I get is the run around, routed to useless web sites or emails that do not work. They don't care about their customers they only want your card so they can relieve you of your money. I have not been able to find how to cancel the mythical subscription and numerous emails to all the email addresses that I can find, have given zero reaction or response. I signed up for the 1 cent a day trial and was looking forward to "full access" as promised. I never received full access, but all articles were hidden behind a pay wall. I sent four emails to "members" at the NYS over several days and weeks and never got a response. I called this morning and the ONLY option was to receive a call back. I'm still waiting. To cancel I had to click on "Premium Contact" or something like that and was able to cancel my subscription. They promised not to charge me again. I'm skeptical, but hopeful. I saw the new amount on my credit account and immediately contacted them to stop and refund me the $120. I sent more than one email to "support". Never heard back from them. They say one can subscribe for a Penney day and can cancel at anytime without also stating,upfront, that they will also charge your account $120.00 as an annual fee 60 days from the start of your subscription. The telephione number shown on Google (1-866-780-0786) is for the wrong publication. I have no problem with the content - it's the subscription department. Once you give them your credit card number you're a subscriber for life, regardless of how many times you ask them to unsubscribe. I even changed my credit card number and the bank let the charge go through. read more

i remember every morning finding the new york sun resting on the mat outside my apt which was strange cause i never ordered this nyc base newspaper but i didnt mind cause i enjoyed reading what was going on local, domestic, international via current events , politics, humor, the arts, etc. they stop printing in 2008 and now its strictly online which is better in my opinion. it has a conservative tilting platform which i enjoy but contribution from each writer is fair overall. glad the new york sun is back to entertain me with interesting stories and events . read more
