What a find! I stopped in after grabbing coffee at Zen. Woman owned and inclusive! When you hear people say "shop small" or "support local" this is the exact store that should get that support. After checking it out, I went online and learned the owner's story. Her website has the sweetest passing of the torch video - From One Chapter to the Next. It is a great space with plenty of stock and well worth the visit. And I just saw they have book clubs!! read more

This is a great little local bookstore. Really nice variety of books, games, reading accessories, and items from other local businesses. My husband loves to read and buys all his books from here. It is SO important to shop local. Very helpful staff - which is another great reason to shop local small businesses. THEY CARE about things, it's their passion. They even have some free books, as well as some that are free with purchase of other items. Love that! There is a great coffee shop (Zen) next door, and my favorite restaurant, International Cafe, is right across the street. read more

I love this book shop. I love the seasonal displays and the variety of books she carries. Even if she doesn't have the book I'm looking for she always offers to order it. Aside from books, I love the puzzles and other book paraphernalia in the store. Good selection and value for what they offer for yourself or as a gift. Super cute book store that also carries an assortment of small related gifts. If you don't find the book you are looking for, they are happy to order it for you. The front of the store has groupings to browse by theme; examples might include holiday gifts books, women's history month, mysteries in October or local authors. I always find something interesting and unexpected in this section. The rest of the store is laid out and clearly labeled by type of book. In the middle you'll find stationery, small games, and cute stuff - perfect if you are attempting to put together a gift bag quickly yet with intention. I love this bookstore. They had a little juice station when I went which was so fun. They have a really great variety of books especially for a local bookstore. I was surprised to see a lot of booktok recs in addition to classics. The booksellers are really helpful and sweet and they have great recs. read more

My first time in today and oh my gosh, favorite new bookshop! I walked in and heard a delightful parrot just talking away and thought "this is my kind of bookstore!" Seriously, Dickens the parrot was one of the best parts of the shop. Other notable fun parts included drinks while you shop, both NA and alcoholic, a variety of options for both. I know I'd love perusing a good bookshop with a red wine in hand! I'll do that next time I'm in; this time was coffee. There aren't abundant options in store, but she was quick to offer to order it in for me, which I took her up on. I did find a couple books by one of my favorite food authors Ruth Reichl, so that was a huge bonus. There are lots of different book-themed and Omaha-themed set ups, like a CWS section, imbibement (not a word) section, female authors, and more. There's a clearance cart and the books are all arranged by genre and alphabetized, so easy searching. Head in today, say hi to Dickens, and enjoy a drink while you peruse the shelves for your favorite new book! read more

Super cute little bookstore!! I've been trying to re-enter my reading era recently... if I am successful I hope to be back here often! It's smaller, so the selection is not endless, but wide-ranging & well curated. The store is super cozy feeling (as a bookstore should), well organized & easy to navigate. I found the books I was looking for pretty quickly but lingered awhile just to browse & take in the vibe. Something about being around books is so soothing :) The worker was super friendly & we chatted briefly about the books I was purchasing. Support your local independent book store! read more

Adorable! This place is great! It's clean, organized, and the employee working was so nice and we had a great little conversation. They were requiring masks (had one for you for free if you needed it!) and asked you to use some hand sanitizer. (I visited in August of 2020.) Not only do they sell books, but they have mugs, shirts, journals, gifts, knick-knacks, and I think you can buy booze! I think! I saw cans of something over the register for sale. I think it was canned alcohol. (I might be wrong.) Some tables are located right outside for hanging out and enjoying your new purchase. They were allowing customers to use the bathroom! Thank freaking god. I was so mad the voodoo taco that I had lunch at right next door wouldn't let me. Bought much more than intended. Oops! LoL I'll happily go back if I'm in that Omaha neighborhood again. read more

Wow! If you are a fan of the traditional, independently owned book store with unique book displays, puzzles, games and literature themed novelties The Next Chapter is a must visit destination. I'm a sucker for any store that has an antique typewriter prominently positioned at the entrance, on the store sign, and printed on their gift bags. My husband and I both made purchases--he found a book that peaked his interest and I couldn't resist the spices with names coined from book titles: "A Wrinkle in Thyme, Where the Crawdads Zing, & Dried and Prejudice." The owner checked us out and shared that the store has been open for a year and is enjoying the foot traffic from a nearby hotel, restaurant and coffee shop despite construction in the area. Free parking was convenient. Masks and hand sanitizer were available at the door due to COVID-19 restrictions. The store was clean and tastefully furnished. We will be back. read more

My friend and I stopped by when we noticed it close to the cafe we were in. I'm a huge book lover so I love visiting local bookstores. The lady working was super friendly and gave some great advice on a few books in different series to read in the future. This cute store has a great little kids corner and some great book lover gifts. They also have a great best seller selection upon entry if you are curious what's hot to read at the moment. read more

Checked this place out yesterday... Thought it was a used bookstore, but nope, brand new books and doodads are for sale... Just opened a few months ago, so stock is small but growing... The owner was working when I was there, very friendly individual who further stated they could special order as applicable so that's nice... Couple of big comfy chairs to sit in... I am someone that finds it way too easy to buy things on Amazon. Even more so given the pandemic. Despite that I've been making an effort to buy books locally rather than doing a search and waiting two days for it to show up at my door. That brings me to this awesome little bookstore which is a mere six minutes from my house in th Farnam Hill District. They offer a solid collection of books. You can even get a glass of wine or a local beer as you peruse the selection of books and gifts. They even offer online ordering which I have taken advantage of. I ordered it in the evenin, showed up the next day to pick it up. I was in and out in two minutes. It's become my go-to spot for books. read more

Walked in here with a friend looking for a puzzle to do on a blustery afternoon in November. Shelly, the owner, was working behind the counter but was quick to strike up conversation with us and help direct us to where we could find what we were looking for. While the selection diversity is minimal overall, there are quality finds. Other than books there are games, frames, cards, and trinkets. Beautiful layout inside and great location next to Zen Coffee Shop. Really hoping this 'Farnam Hill' area takes off. Love to support. read more

I went in for two books my dad had on his Christmas list, and the owner helped me find them both within minutes. It was the easiest Christmas shopping I did all season. I've picked up a couple of other great reads for myself since then. It's a cozy, welcoming nook right next to a great coffee house.
