We were able to store our belongings in a locker before being shown to our escape room. We chose the Jurassic World room and were given clear instructions along with a walkie-talkie to request clues if needed--which we definitely took advantage of. This was my first escape room experience, so it took a little time to understand what was being asked of us, but once it clicked, things started moving much more smoothly. Even though we didn't solve the entire room, we had a great time and are already looking forward to coming back to try another one.

Prices were reasonable for general admission. The only downside is having to wait behind this group of tweens and their chaperone was basically a rug that you can walk all over. The security had to tell them twice to knock it off. They were destroying some of the props. They should have all been kicked out with no refund. For the haunted house itself, it was great. I liked all of the details that went into them especially for their first year. I noticed from YouTube videos as well as our walkthrough, that there were two different paths. Our path didn't have the giant troll or the church. There is a small souvenir shop at the end as well as some spots to take pictures.

Pumpkins that you can pick are at very reasonable prices. Food and drinks are at reasonable prices too as well as other merchandise and other fall related things that go on here. They had a corn maze that I did not check out at all. Visiting the animals was probably one of my favorite things at the farm. It's not jam-packed like a lot of the popular locations. The only downside I would say was that the staff is a little bit untrained especially when it comes to money handling since the one cashier when I was paying for pumpkins didn't know how to count cash even though I gave him exact change. They have a huge play area with wooden structures such as a school bus, fire truck, and castle. My young girls enjoyed the pretend play on the vehicles and going on the slides. There is also a section with huge stacks that are perfect for climbing and taking group pictures. Some things to take note of: 1) There is a section with plenty of port-a-potties. We were there in the morning so the port-a-potties were all relatively clean and unused. 2) The food section isn't that big but service is quick. We tried the cheese pizza, poor boy, pork chop on a stick, cheeseburger, and donuts. We would definitely order the poor boy, a cube steak sandwich, and pork chop again. They did an excellent job with grilling the meats and both had a nice sear while retaining moisture. The donuts were mini-size and came in baker's dozen so it was easy for our young girls to dig in.

So, the physicality of enclosures designed to terrify adults is just not something that interests me. However, I couldn't be more enthused about this bit of local flavor: Every October, a family in the sleepy town of Roselle sets up three big tents in their front yard and crafts within them a truly excellent Halloween experience for the community. We'd been noticing the tents for a while, but only started investigating them last year. I figured it was going to be the usual cutesy Halloween stuff, but no. The level of creepiness and goriness was such that I couldn't handle actually entering the tents, so I mostly looked on as my partner Wolf R. had a good time checking everything out. But even he got a little surprise at the end: While looking into the coffin in the last tent, he was spooked by a large vampire swinging down from above, and a second later, he was further startled by a person dressed in all black, including a black face mask, creeping up behind him. I'd have laughed if I wasn't so busy making sure nothing was creeping up behind me. This year I felt a bit more bold and decided to follow a whole group of little kids into the leftmost tent, themed like a haunted carnival with evil clowns. This ain't so bad, I thought, enjoying the creative clowns and even snapping a pic. And then, I don't even understand what it was, but the odd noises and spinning lights they'd set up conspired to get under my skin and I felt like I was going to totally lose it if I didn't retreat *immediately*. My god. The middle tent was the gory cannibalistic one, with zombies and body parts and -- well, I won't spoil it for you. It was so gross that I couldn't actually look at it long enough to take a picture. And this year, the last tent was themed like a haunted hotel with black lights. Nothing jumped out at my partner this time but he still loved it. As it turns out, the haunted house also promotes a good cause: They collect non-perishable food for the Bloomingdale Food Pantry. The family also accepts donations if you'd like to chip in to their haunted house efforts. Massacre haunted house has amazing visual affects, the make up is it awesome, and the props are super cool. the first line was a regular Q line, and then you entered another a bit past a bar! this room had lights and a DJ booth what a great way to wait. The haunted house had many twists and turns, amazing effects, and creepy story lines. I say a haunted house is a success if I go "Oh shit". at least once... I yelled it three times here. We waited about a half an hour to get in which was not bad at all in my opinion. The longer wait promotes really good spacing and a well paced out experience inside so it's worth it! And the scare actors outside help immerse you in the experience early. For 15 dollars per person, this is so well worth it compared to other larger scale haunted houses in the area. The setting itself is so cool and you can tell they put a lot of work into it. We went in in groups of 8 which was a nice amount in my opinion. I don't scare easily so nothing really got me but that is not at all for lack of trying! Caution there are a lot of strobe and flashing light elements if that's an issue for anyone.
