Talented artist filled the stage. 12 member band left them little room to move but it looked like they had a blast performing. Ordering drinks and snacks is easy but come early if you want to eat. The sound and lighting is very good in this small venue and I especially like that they don't have it so loud your eardrums are going to rupture! Staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable. If you have an issue with anything just ask. Bartenders are quick and the drinks are good. Expect to pay premium prices. Don't forget to grab some popcorn before the show start. Oh yeah, the upstairs bar is Cash Only! You can purchase drinks with a card down stairs then take your receipt upstairs for a drink. Find a concert you'd like to see and give this place a try! I've seen a lot of music in my life, and some of the best shows have been at World Records, I'm talking artists like Mindi Abair, Sugaray Rayford, Ana Popovich, and Selwyn Birchwood, just to name a few. This is top notch talent all the way! Great acoustics, small and comfy, it's just an excellent place to see music. The fact that the artists come out and sign autographs etc. at the end of the show is the kind of experience you can rarely find any more or any place else. They have so much talent it's a pleasure that they are a Bakersfield band. Accompanying Walter this evening was Teddy Zig Zag on keyboards, John Avila on base, Michael Leisure on drums and John Trout, Walter's Son, vocals & guitar. What an all star band each member having a storied history of their own. On concert nights you can call ahead to order one of Jimmy's famous wood fired pizzas for a little nosh preconcert. Granted it looked like all construction workers because there was nothing else but oversized trucks in their parking lot! My fiancé Googled "clean hotel without bed bugs" and Padre Hotel came up first! Their online reviews were great and we were exhausted and needed to rest! We pulled into their valet parking just to drop off our things. As my fiancé parked the car, across the street in the over night garage, I was able to get a Single King room on a Monday night for $159. As we walked into our room #701, it was rather small, but fine since it was just the two of us. As I sat on the bed, it was actually hard! Yay!!!! I can't STAND soft beds and rather sleep on the floor! Haha no joke! Then my fiancé went into the restroom and suddenly he tapped on something glass sounding as I was turning ing on the tv..... I noticed there was a curtain by the bed, so I pulled it across and lo and behold by the bed was the shower and just a curtain the person from the outside of the shower could open/close as they please..... hee. We also had a mini fridge in the room along with a desk and chair. We had planned on staying one night, but got inside LA, and we figured we'd extend our stay. Upon doing so, we went downstairs the next day and asked if there was a deal if we could stay 3-4 days, and sure enough there was!!!! It's always great to see what happens once you ask! Hee. We got a larger room with a corner room location, I forgot the room number, but the restroom was larger and had a separate wall between the toilet and shower area, so if someone was in the shower, someone else could use the toilet and not be seen. This longer hotel room also had a chaise lounge chair and a better view of their downtown area, granted a lot of the places have closed. Overall, I honestly loved our stay here! It reminded me of a county version of The Fairmont SF! They constantly played new aged country music in the lobby! Then on Fridays and Saturdays there was a live band or singer in the bar area! I love how they had a community aspect to the hotel with some local live entertainment!!! My fiancé also loved watching The Knicks play on the bar tv with other people at the bar! Hee. Oh and they had an adorable coffee shop that made Ready To Order items downstairs too! See my review at Farmacy Cafe, but too freaking too! Country SHREK! Hee We will definitely be back again!!!!!

It is in the church building on the corner of O Street and 20th Street and there are big numbers with the address above the entrance. There is a small parking lot and ample parking around the building. As soon as you walk in the restrooms are on either side of the main doors. The ladies restroom was very clean but not well stocked. 2 of the 3 stalls didn't have toilet paper and one of them didn't have toilet seat covers. They did not serve alcohol at the show I went to so I am assuming they don't sell alcohol but there is a snack bar selling reasonably priced ear plugs, candy, and water. Another plus is there were ins and outs. During the first band's (Mest) set the room was really hot and I was surprised they actually turned the AC on and it was much cooler for the rest of the show (The Ataris and Hawthorne Heights). That really impressed me. The sound is not great but considering the venue I guess it is expected so I won't complain too much. All in all I liked attending the show I did and would come back to see more bands!
