People have to be tired of my reviews photos and check ins here. But, when it works it just works. 300 plus check-ins and still my Happy Place. Steaks, Lobster Mac and Cheese, Steak bites, and Amazing Calamari. Pay attention to the Specials Board, because you never know what the Fabulous Chefs like Danny and Luis are going to create for your Culinary Adventures. Classic retro Steak House vibes, Lovely ladies taking care of the dining room and bar: Sarah, Megan, Liz, Micaela, and all my Beautiful people. (Sorry if I forgot you on this post but we love you and appreciate you). Entertainment by Jimmie and Bobbie. KC Steak has been a Bakersfield place to be and be seen for 80 plus years. More food, more drinks and more fun for 2026 and beyond.

Delicious food . The steak was one of the best I've tried in town. Id say definitely in the top three. The mashed potatoes were delicious. The pork chops were delicious. The service was good. There was parking in the back of the restaurant and there are street parking as well.

First time having dinner here and I have to say it wasn't any special. Over priced food and drinks with a long wait time. Service was not that great. First off I don't know about you but Valentine's Day to me isn't a holiday apparently to KC Steakhouse it is. There excuse to tac on a 20% charge on your bill. Next you want to charge an extra cause of a so-called holiday and still have a limited menu strike two. If you're going to have a limited menu and still take forever to serve the food come on do better. 3 strikes your out KC Steakhouse, there are way better place to go have dinner in town where they won't rob you blind for a mediocre meal.

My husband's company has had their Christmas party at KC steakhouse for two years in a row and so far I have really enjoyed it. The waiting staff are very friendly and never let your drink be half empty. The food is always delicious. This last one we had chicken and tri tip. Both were sooooo good. The party rooms are always set up so nice and can't ask for a better experience for a Christmas party.

This was my first time being here and I only went because my brother invited me out for my bdy, so it was a bfy dinner. First off super dim when you arrive, it took us at least 15mins for our eyes to adjust lol. Super cool looking inside, it reminded me of a restaurant in Chicago called Storyville expect the band is downstairs. The service was a little rushed. Like for it being my first time I wanted a great dish and I do appreciate the help from our server, but my brother and I did feel sorta rushed to order. My favorite whiskey sour is from Eureka on Stockdale but the sours I drank here were really delicious. Different cherries in both drinks but both the drinks were excellent. I can go on about a rant on the food but I will simply say I will definitely go back. Delicious food and the lobster mac n cheese was one of the best things I have tasted in my life.

Me waiting for a table ...............

I have been dining out for more than 50 years. This is the first time I ever had to wait over an hour for a 7:30 reservation. 8:30 and counting. All the other nearby"Plan B" restaurants are closing. And we are not the only ones. Unbelievably badly managed. When we were finally seated at 8:45, the service was good. They were apologetic and the food arrived quickly at 9:10. However, the food was, to be charitable, subpar. The steak was good and properly cooked (table stakes at a steak house). Everything else was pretty awful. The bread was stale and cold. The side salad (extra charge) was drowned in dressing and the croutons were dangerously inedible. The "whiskey peppercorn" sauce (extra charge) for the steak was congealed; clearly made way ahead and thickened beyond belief. It was mildly useful to moisten the desiccated, unseasoned mashed potatoes. But the worst was the side vegetables: over-steamed, unseasoned zucchini flopped onto the plate. They put steak on a plate with bad cafeteria food. It must be a completely demoralized kitchen. And that means bad ownership.

Went here for my birthday and have to say I had the very best experience. Love the cozy atmosphere and enjoy the booths so much. The food is always delicious and today was no exception. Steak was perfectly medium rare and all the sides were yummy. The dessert was also so good. Our server was so friendly and helpful. She made my birthday even more special. Prices are what you expect for a steakhouse but well worth it. I highly recommend to anyone wanting a great place to celebrate.

Growing up in Bakersfield, I'm mad at myself for not coming any sooner to KC Steakhouse. Came by on a Saturday for my first time, and absulotely loved this place. The ambiance here was awesome. Dark, had a bar type feeling and it was a classy decoration that I liked. Menu was good and extensive. They have just about everything you would think a steakhouse would have. I decided to try their 9oz filet mignon, cost me $52 for the plate but IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. My steak was cooked to perfection and tasted AMAZING. Hands down the best steak I have had in all of Bakersfield and I'm a huge steak fan fyi. The baked potato that was my side was also superb. Overall, my meal was a 10 out of 10. Our server and bartender were phenomenal. These ladies were on it and they were so kind! When you have great service and a great meal, you know you will be back. Thanks KC steakhouse, you got an awesome spot there. See you guys very soon.

    Colorful Christmas decorations

A reservation for 7:30 turned into a 1.5 hour wait and frayed tempers. It was Christmas week and there were several large groups having a raucous time and no desire to vacate well after they had finished their meals. The hapless waitresses were getting the brunt of complaints from upset guests who had made reservations and were forced to wait for more than hour. With most restaurants closing at 8 pm, there weren't other alternatives. We inquired about our seats several times and they tried to placate us with promises of tables about to be vacated. What they didnt tell us was that there was a bar full of irate guests ahead of us waiting to be seated. A couple walked by us who were incredibly angry. They had given up after a wait of more than 1.5 hours. We finally got seated next to a large multigenerational family taking over three tables. They had been there for a while and their orders had still not been taken. We were concerned that we would never be served so we insisted on ordering right away. Food arrived 30 minutes later. The steaks were good but not outstanding and all the surrounding dishes (bread, salad, mashed potatoes, gloppy green peppercorn gravy, and overcooked zucchini) were high school cafeteria caliber. As we were leaving, one of the guests from the large family group was standing outside smoking a cigarette to cool off. Without any prompting from me , he started a long rant about making a reservation 2 weeks in advance, getting there, being told there was no reservation, and being chided for not following up. I would have attributed these issues to the busy Holiday season. But I concluded that the overbooking is a recurring management issue related to greed or clueless time management or both. If the management took as much care in managing their bookings as they did in their thoughtfully curated Christmas decorations, they might actually be able to deliver a fine dining experience.

We've been coming here for about a half century, and it's as special and intimate as it ever was. This time, we came at 3:00, and ordered from the lunch menu. I got the steak, smothered in mushrooms, and all kinds of delicious items. My wife ordered the homemade soup and salad! Missy made it all special, with her genuinely warm and friendly service!

You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.

Last year I made a large reservation for about 10 ladies to celebrate someone and on the way to the restaurant they called to confirm the reservation (about 30 minutes before), but I did not hear my phone. When I arrived, a distraught friend told me that they did not have our reservation so I asked what the issue was. The manager told me because I did not confirm, they were not sure they were going to hold the table. I apologized that I had not recieved a call, but asked if we could still have the table (I was there on time and could see the large table with the reservation note on it). The manager begrungenly said they would allow us to still dine with them, but they said they would not seat us until more of our party arrived. I asked if we could wait for our party at the bar, but they said they would not because every seat at the bar was taken. So just a heads up, you cannot stand at the bar, you cannot stand around the restaurant, and they do not have a place to sit and wait for your table, you just have to stand outside (I'm sure it has to do with safety or firecodes, I didn't argue, we waited outside until people at the bar left). Once we were seated, the staff was not friendly. Wondering if we should leave or not, I called a friend who works near the building who frequents this place often on what I should do. He told me to go back inside and that the staff would be nice. When I returned, a new server came to our table with a tray of shots and said they would be taking care of us for the rest of the evening. I figured maybe the manager and that other server was just having a bad day, my friend must have called the restaurant and asked his most trusted server to help us, and enjoyed the rest of our evening. I didn't want to risk it another bad experience, so I haven't returned since. A few months ago during the whole Cesar Chavez news broke out, that friend who frequented the place went with another friend to the Botonist and was talking about the news while they were dining. The manager overheard. Later when my friends were getting ready to leave, the manager started becoming upset with my friends and told my guy friend, "I HOPE SOMEBODY R*PES YOU". Stunned, he asked her to repeat herself and she did. My friends left. The chefs and building are wonderful, but obviously something needs to be done about the management and staff with being professional and treating customers with respect. I've worked in the service industry and understand how stressful it can be, but I have always been able to keep my cool around people who are trying to enjoy a nice meal. Hoping they recieve the help they need as I love to see my community thrive.

I came in with an appetite and there wasn't much to choose from. The hubs said the ceviche was too salty but the shrimp tacos were good. I thought the taco salad was delicious and I finished it all. My friend ordered the garlic shrimp and also said they were salty and at $24.99 for just 6 shrimp, she would not order them again. The weirdest part was there was a big labradoodle inside the restaurant! I thought it crazy at first since there is a patio that is just fine for dogs. Look, I'm a dog lover, but inside of a restaurant is crazy to me! What if people are allergic? What if the dog jumps on the table? This dog was roaming all over the place...it was under our table looking for scraps and I even seen it sniffing a patrons legs at one of the high top tables. Anyway, this place is decorated super cute, the food was okay and the dog seems to be one of the owners so it seems it's going to be there indefinitely.
