We have been long-time members of The NOW! long enough that our current monthly membership rate is no longer even offered. That's how long we've supported this brand. Unfortunately, our experience with the Redondo Beach location was incredibly disappointing. We had group massages booked for Saturday, 5/23. On Friday, 5/22, after confirming the appointments earlier in the day, we found out there was a chemical spill emergency near our home. The situation was serious enough that the city issued mandatory evacuation orders for nearby residents, which included us. Even with the stress and anxiety of having to evacuate, We still wanted to be respectful and cancel any appointments we had scheduled for the next day. Around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, I went into The NOW app, the same app used to book the group massage, and cancelled the appointment. Since the cancellation window is 12 hours before the appointment, we were well within the required timeframe. The next day around noon, we received a call asking where my girlfriend was for her appointment. Confused, we explained both the evacuation situation and that the appointment had already been cancelled through the app. Instead of showing any understanding or accountability, we were told they still had to charge us per policy. When I asked to speak with the location manager/owner, I expected the situation would be corrected. Instead, I was told that even though I booked the group massage through the app and cancelled it through the app, apparently each person in the group has to cancel individually. That makes no practical sense from a customer standpoint. If the app allows one person to book the group appointment, then cancelling that group appointment through the same app should cancel the appointment. The manager also referenced the confirmation text from earlier Friday, but the cancellation happened after that, during an actual evacuation emergency. Despite that, they still took our credits. This was not a case of casually missing an appointment. This was a mandatory evacuation caused by a chemical spill, and we still made the effort to cancel within the policy window. The lack of empathy, flexibility, and accountability from this location was extremely disappointing, especially for long-time members. Won't be back to this location, won't recommend this location, and will strongly advocate against this location going forward. read more

*Very rude front desk/receptionist* My husband booked me a massage, as Mother's Day is coming up and I was very much looking forward to it. However, I woke up this morning with the Flu so I called to reschedule my appointment. As soon as I informed the front desk girl that I was sick, her tone turned very COLD and RUDE. I could tell she was very bothered that I wasn't going to make it and would need to reschedule. She proceeded to tell me (in a very hostile tone) that this could not happen again or I'd be charged. It came as a big surprise that she would talk to me in such a bad manner despite me having the flu. Most places do not treat you this way when you must reschedule due to illness . She made me feel like a bad person for getting sick, when I just wanted to be mindful of not getting anyone else sick. This incident left me feeling very uneasy and I no longer feel excited to come here. Its unfortunate, because most ppl that book a massage are in need of relaxation and not of being treated with hostility. I really wanted to love this experience after seeing an ad for it on Instagram. The setting looks really cool when you walk into the actual massage space - lots of fake candles and it's a vibe. But besides a cool photo, that's about it in terms of the value. It's pretty much one giant room with linen curtains hanging to create individual "rooms" for a massage. It is insanely loud because they have a bunch of sound machines to mask the fact that you're right next to a bunch of other people in a big room. All of this might be able to be overlooked if the massage was good. Unfortunately, I found mine to be quite lacking. My masseuse hardly made eye contact with me - he seemed very uncomfortable to be even in my presence (this was in the space before we went into the actual room). I wanted a more deep tissue massage and he attempted to accommodate but he asked me if the pressure was okay every 2-5 minutes - no joke. It was excessive. Wonderful experience from the moment we walked in! We booked a 50 minute for my fiancée and a 20 minute infrared sauna session for me. To our surprise, we won a giveaway for the sauna session! My sauna experience was great. It was a private Clearlight 2 sauna at the back of the room. I was given a regular sized towel, a smaller cooling towel, and a complimentary cold water. The Bluetooth music option was not available per policy, but the ambient ocean sound was very calming. My fiancée had "The Now" massage with the sliding cupping and deep tissue add-on's. Her masseuse was Lehmont and she shared that it was the best massage she has had to date. We highly recommend this location for your next wellness day. read more

The massage was fine but I had to shower afterwards because the hair at the back of my neck and my skin on my body were pretty oily. I am used to a warm towel being used to towel off the excess oil at other places that are less fancy. I am unsure why that wasn't done here but I wouldn't return. It is pretty expensive. Could not recommend this enough! The space is brand new and tastefully decorated. I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff for my appointment, and was promptly moved to my massage room. I opted for the NOW Massage with Deep Tissue enhancement and it was amazing. The massage area itself was very inviting and comfortable, with relaxing ocean sounds playing in the background. My massage therapist was very professional and attentive to what I requested. I left feeling lighter and more relaxed than I have in weeks! Truly exceptional customer service! I had an "ok" experience my first time here, and brought it up to the front desk when they asked how it was. I was honest with them and they immediately got the manager who was truly apologetic, understanding, and made it right. I returned again to give it another try, and they did not disappoint. I had my second massage at The NOW Spa (409 N. Pacific Coast Hwy #100, Redondo Beach), and it was even better than the first. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the whole space smells incredible -- their Jasmine Coconut candles are my new favorite scent. I tried the complimentary Infrared Sauna before my session, and it was the perfect warm-up for a 50-minute massage. Marquetta is fantastic. Her technique is massage -- not just a rubdown with lotion -- and the medium pressure I requested was exactly right: enough to work out the tension without leaving me sore the next day. The location is great too, tucked into a small shopping center with plenty of free parking. And with so many rooms, it's a perfect spot for a relaxing girls' night out with your besties. Probably the worst massage I ever got. I usually prefer light to medium pressure so made an appointment for the NOW massage and there was zero pressure. I wasn't even asked if the pressure was ok? There was a lot of focus spent on my hands so asked to skip one hand so I can get more time on my neck but it was very minimal. I basically paid money to get oil put onto my body. I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe I got stuck with a bad massage therapist but my husband had the same experience with his therapist.
