The exterior give off a plan vibe but the decor and seating inside is great. Our server was very nice and attentive. Food was very reasonably priced and tasty. Highly recommend the fish and chips, we got steak fries. The boneless wings had a great flavor. Loved the ranch. Zucchini fries were perfect! There's a big bar in the middle, with a unique bar top shape that spans 360 degrees with several TV's in the middle. Menu is somewhat diverse, with a good focus on seafood. I've tried a variety of items. Everything is pretty solid, but portions are a little small for the price, IMO. Food was good- minus our spinach dip being luke warm and congealed but it was fixed. Service was poor and bathroom was FILTHY. Sent them two messages and zero response. "i came with my friend who is legally deaf and we had a really bad experience which I feel like management should be aware of. We waited over 45 minutes, which is fine because it's a Friday and you're a busy place. However, once we were seated we waited at least 20 minutes on our waiter to even come to the table, another 25 minutes or longer for our appetizer which came out luke warm and congealed like it had been sitting (spinach dip). We got one refill the entire time, and a bill for $121 with a ton of stuff added to it which then took ANOTHER 20 minutes to fix. My friend would try to speak and the waiter kept looking to me to speak for her, which is incredibly rude to someone who is deaf and she felt very overwhelmed and embarassed. The Old Bag of Nails Pub is a small chain of restaurants, mostly in Ohio, but there is one in Michigan. It's supposed to have an Irish pub sort of vibe. There's one up north in Mansfield that my dad went to, so I thought I'd give the food at this one a try. The menu is pretty focused on fish items. There is a fish & chips option, shrimp and chips, fish tacos, mussels and shrimp, shrimp po' boy. However, they also have other items like chicken wings, philly cheesesteak, spicy chicken quesadilla and several other sandwiches. I ordered via DoorDash and got the French Dip sandwich but upgraded to Onion Rings for the side. I also ordered a side of coleslaw. The French Dip sandwich had plenty of shaved ribeye meat and was seasoned well and came with a small container of drippings sauce to dip the sandwich in. The container was just enough for the sandwich which is served on a hoagie bun. I enjoyed the sandwich. It has sautéed onions and melted Swiss cheese. It was good. The onion rings were well battered and tasted good but they were very thick, like onion ends. They were okay but I think I would've preferred a few that weren't the ends of the onion. I think there were only four of them. The coleslaw was good, nice and creamy. All items came packed carefully in nice containers but there were no condiments included. I'd give this establishment a solid 3 stars. The French Dip sandwich was the best of the items ordered. The onion rings were okay, but I would've preferred more that weren't as thick. read more

I don't give one stars out frivolously but unfortunately this is well deserved. First let me say, we've come here plenty of times. The service is always questionable but we decided to give it another chance. This isn't a one bad visit review. I can't remember a time we were treated so poorly by a waiter or waitress as tonight. I have no idea why she acted so terrible, but "BJ" had the worst attitude toward us I've ever experienced from a wait staff member. I asked to change the channel on our personal table's tv and was met with a shrug and "what do you want?" My wife was going to order another drink and asked for a menu and we were clearly inconveniencing her by ordering more! We never saw her again and she clearly handed us off to another staff member. I asked to speak with a manager. We waited at least 10 minutes, no one ever came back to our table and we left. If you fail to heed my warning and still want to indulge yourself here, do yourself a favor and make sure you don't get seated at one of BJ's tables! I wouldn't give a one star to a business just because of one staff person however, the fact no manager ever came to speak to me as requested and the fact we've had poor service before makes me feel it is well deserved. read more

For a starter we got the Bavarian pretzel with bar cheese(never had before) probably the best Bavarian style pretzel in the Dayton region, worth a try. Wife and I split the fish/shrimp combo.There fish is always good with two large whitefish fillets with light breading served with steak fries. Shrimp was also good, large and lightly breaded. Waitress was excellent as well, she anticipate what we needed instead of us having to waive her down. Even split the meal for us on separate plates. Place is always clean with plenty of seating too. My apologies, I was not doing reviews when I ate the fabulous Shrimp Po-Boy here. Service is spot on with an attentive staff. The interior is somewhat dark but it is appropriate. Like I said the Po'Boy is delish. I do not know exactly what lunch costed me, but would say I had a non-alcoholic drink and the sandwich for under $20 for certain. It is in the Cross Pointe shopping center's north side, so you will have to drive around the corner in the lot fo find it but DON'T GIVE UP! it is worth the effort IMO. Enjoy read more

Unpleasant experience Manager brought daughters to work with him ( I know this because daughter stated her dad was the manager) Daughters were left unattended I booth next to where I was seated. From the time we were seated she was hanging over the top of the booth and coming over to our booth disturbing us. The last straw was her coming over with her tablet taking pictures of us. This is rude and offensive. When I spoke to manager about what his child was doing his response was to move the child. Neither the child nor the Manager apologized for the behavior. Having stopped here while traveling, it is not a place I will be a regular customer. Although, I have enjoyed this restaurant in other cities. Incredibly friendly staff and surprisingly family-friendly for a bar. I ordered the fish and chips and they were a perfect balance of breading and meat. Moreover, almost every seat has viewing access to a TV. The monitors are tactically placed so you can enjoy a meal and watch a game, if that is your thing. But even with an abundance of screens, the overall atmosphere was not overwhelmingly loud. I highly recommend this place. The grilling really brings out the incredible flavor of the pepper and combined with a juicy and medium cooked patty, just complete heaven! I got rings and tots to share. We love this place but rarely go to unless it's with one of brothers because this is one of the only places he'll go out to eat at. For me, every dag gone time, I get the Fish & Chips because it reminds me of my childhood. They seem to make it just like my sad made it when we were growing up. Perfectly breaded, perfectly cooked and it is always delicious. I could easily just eat the fish and foregoing the chips. The lovely Mrs changes things up here, tonight she got some sort of chicken nachos that were not to my liking but she and my sister in law seemed to like them. Our preferred server is BJ. She takes care of us, she's super nice and seems to have the memory of an elephant. It's been a number of months since we've been here but she knew exactly what drinks we liked, how we liked our food and even suggested one of her special 'Strong Island' iced teas. It was fantastic!! You definitely need to order the fish and chips! You get two large cod fillets, so you won't go home hungry. Their onion rings are great- but they are huge so you don't get very many. The service was definitely slow. Our salads and soup didn't come before the entrees, which meant that we didn't even have time to eat them. I'd definitely recommend passing on the French onion soup. It was very salty and lackluster in flavor. It tasted like canned beef consommé. We would have ranked it higher if not for the service.
