Fish and shrimp platter
Dana M.

So I'm craving fish and chips and where do I go???? To the Old bag of nails pub!! My husband and I split the fish and shrimp platter for $22 and STILL had food to take home. Nothing is ever greasy tasting here. I just love the fish and shrimp and the steak fries that come with it! Their tartar sauce is just fantastic! Our service was fantastic as well. It's got tons of TVs on the walls so you can keep up with any sporting news or events! They have tons of other items on the menu (like burgers and Phillies and salads) but I always go for my fish fix!! Check them out, you'll be hooked too (pardon the pun!)

Good food good severs best frech did going good pepele good sreves and good sports bar

Food was good- minus our spinach dip being luke warm and congealed but it was fixed. Service was poor and bathroom was FILTHY. Sent them two messages and zero response. "i came with my friend who is legally deaf and we had a really bad experience which I feel like management should be aware of. We waited over 45 minutes, which is fine because it's a Friday and you're a busy place. However, once we were seated we waited at least 20 minutes on our waiter to even come to the table, another 25 minutes or longer for our appetizer which came out luke warm and congealed like it had been sitting (spinach dip). We got one refill the entire time, and a bill for $121 with a ton of stuff added to it which then took ANOTHER 20 minutes to fix. My friend would try to speak and the waiter kept looking to me to speak for her, which is incredibly rude to someone who is deaf and she felt very overwhelmed and embarassed. The bathrooms were also filthy." Love the fish but sadly won't be back. When I told the hostess the bathroom was a mess she stood and stared at me like I was crazy.

French Dip sandwich and Onion Rings

The Old Bag of Nails Pub is a small chain of restaurants, mostly in Ohio, but there is one in Michigan. It's supposed to have an Irish pub sort of vibe. There's one up north in Mansfield that my dad went to, so I thought I'd give the food at this one a try. The menu is pretty focused on fish items. There is a fish & chips option, shrimp and chips, fish tacos, mussels and shrimp, shrimp po' boy. However, they also have other items like chicken wings, philly cheesesteak, spicy chicken quesadilla and several other sandwiches. I ordered via DoorDash and got the French Dip sandwich but upgraded to Onion Rings for the side. I also ordered a side of coleslaw. The French Dip sandwich had plenty of shaved ribeye meat and was seasoned well and came with a small container of drippings sauce to dip the sandwich in. The container was just enough for the sandwich which is served on a hoagie bun. I enjoyed the sandwich. It has sautéed onions and melted Swiss cheese. It was good. The onion rings were well battered and tasted good but they were very thick, like onion ends. They were okay but I think I would've preferred a few that weren't the ends of the onion. I think there were only four of them. The coleslaw was good, nice and creamy. All items came packed carefully in nice containers but there were no condiments included. I'd give this establishment a solid 3 stars. The French Dip sandwich was the best of the items ordered. The onion rings were okay, but I would've preferred more that weren't as thick.

Fried mushrooms

The only issue I had was the deep fried (onion rings, tator tots) tasted like fish. Not being a fish person, I couldn't eat any more of it. I order the prime dip. It was Amazing! My friend said cheeseburger was good. Both of us liked the slaw I did not try the fried mushrooms but friend said they were good.

Yellow Springs Boat Show IPA

Really cool bar with a great selection of beer and very friendly service. I stopped here quickly for my first time meeting up with friends. We only had drinks this night but I definitely want to come back and try the food as it looked and smelled amazing.

Moscato was $5 per glass during happy hour. Excellent soup of the day and Philly sub. Tater tots were hard as rocks, not worth the $3 upcharge. Chocolate cake did not impress. Would have been better warmed with a scoop of ice cream.

Every cocktail was delicious and consistent. The drinks on the happy hour cocktail list were top tier drinks! Today was the first day of the new menu and the chef and kitchen brought their A game! I was extremely impressed with the Thai flat flatbread, chef kiss! The Cubano sandwich was perfectly executed and the group's favorite! Kitchens notoriously overcook chicken, but not here, the Puerto Rican skewers with coconut mango sauce was tender, aromatic with layers of flavor. The chef was mingling with patrons and came over to say hi, which is fairly common in finer restaurants. Hi, we're Bryan and Jo and I believe we're your new regulars!

Walking in, it was evident this is more of a bar. There was only one real dinning table and they…read morefailed to seat the six of us at it (& we made reservations). They knew we were coming. They seated all 6 of us at two, small, round tables pushed together. We were served luke warm water with no ice. We had to request cocktail napkins. They were not provided with our drinks. Condensation was all over the tables. My wife had a nice heavy pour, me not so much. We looked over the menu on line, and were planning on ordering appetizers. We changed our mind based on the size of the tiny tables they sat us at. All three of us guys ordered the Cubano. It wasn't listed and it is not standard to put Mayo on a Cuban. Also, there was very little meat on all of our sandwiches. It looked like they ran out and were trying to stretch it to feed us. Oh and the fries, the fries, were more like potato sticks. Under cut and over cooked. The waitress ask if we wanted "Ranch, Ketchup or Aoli". My wife ordered Ranch. It was Dill Pickle Ranch, which the waitress failed to mention the first time. It tasted like tartar sauce. So the she got the Aoli, also not mentioned, it was garlic aoli. It still didn't help those awful fries. The manager did reimburse us all for the fries. My wife ordered the Pablano Steak Burger. Instead of a pepper, Onion Rings were on it. In this case it was okay. But the waitress should have been informed and sent out to question if that was alright. Lets say there was a food allergy or sensativity. It just wasn't handled right. Now, the other ladies ordered the Puerto Rican Glazed Chicken Skewers. Both commented the rice was cold and the portion of chicken was minimal. For us all, it was a fail.

No Alcohol. One soda and 3 entrees and an appetizer. Again, the food wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. I posted pics of what we got. The shrimp po boy was probably the most disappointing. Don't get me wrong...loaded with shrimp but just your pre-made shrimp, fried and served. My Rasta pasta was really good. Plentiful and heat was just right. The little piece of bread tasted like it may have been a bit out of date. The jerk cheesesteak was good and good flavor. Fries were my favorite. Had a bit of the coating on them and crunchy and just really tasty. Appetizer of fried ochre was 10 out of 10. Portion size was generous and they came out smoking hot and tasted great. Dining room was a bit odd...like a 60's jazz bar. Music was loud for the amount of people there. We were seated by one person who told us they would be serving us and then another guy came and told us he would be taking care of us. Seems like it may be a "whoever gets to the table first and takes an order gets the table". It was an odd exchange when the girl who seated us came back only for us to say some guy already took our drink order. Unclear as to who was supposed to do what but that made things a little weird. I would be willing to go back but my wife wasn't impressed so I don't know as we will return. We wanted to try it as we had heard great things but now that we have, not sure we need to go back. Food wasn't awful, something just left an odd taste with us and our experience.
