Was not worth the money spent. Low budget room. Breakfast was good but guest room was not comfortable at all.

Our first overnight visit to St. Michaels, a friend suggested this B&B for our stay. I sent email to inquire about reservations and got a call within an hour to talk through it and book. I suggest just calling vs trying to work it out over email...there's plenty to consider when renting here...which building, which room, etc. The website does a good job describing things but no substitute for talking with someone there who knows... Our Chesapeake Room was in the main building, second floor. This is an expansive room with romantic appeal. Street noise minimal, footsteps from the third floor not so much, it is what it is, didn't bother us. Large flat screen TV, jacuzzi tub (if that is your thing) and a shower w/o curtain, doors or wall, inside the jacuzzi. Keurig coffee machine worked well. Bed was comfy. Situated in the heart of the business district and just a couple of minutes walk to the harbor. We ate and drank on the water, Foxy's Harbor Grille, walked over to the Harbor Inn for a drink then finished at Ava's back on Talbot St. Morning breakfast was delicious. I had the sausage benny. The breakfast room was not open to the public and it is small. The Inn schedules your breakfast visit for this reason and I can imagine it might get crazy if it is open to the public at the same time. I don't how know how this is managed but it did not affect us. All in all a great visit. Just be reminded that the Inn has multiple buildings and room options. Do some research and then talk to them to sort out your preferences and expectations. read more

It pains me not to rate this place higher, but we didn't have a great experience. The good- the staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a pleasant experience. The hotel is cute and couldn't be more convenient. The not-so-good. It's loud. We stayed in the French country room which I cannot recommend. Car doors slamming at all hours. Loud footsteps above. When I was in the bathroom I could hear full conversations. The church bells toll every 15 minutes throughout the day. The busy restaurant across the street received frequent deliveries accompanied by beeping when they backed up. Pick a different room. We were there three nights and our room was never serviced. Bed never made, no trash removed, no clean towels, no soap or toilet paper restocked. While the breakfast was good, higher quality ingredients would improve the meal. The coffee was a particular disappointment, and the bacon was thin and low quality. At this price point, our expectations were higher. We'll make another choice if and when we return. read more

We had a great stay at the Old Brick Inn. We were able to get away, last minute, overnight and it was perfect. Great walk ability ... we walked to everything we wanted to see and do. Comfortable bed, fluffy towels, our room had a refrigerator and a coffee maker, which we definitely need. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was just what we needed. Decided to take a little weekend trip to St. Michael's and booked at the Old Brick Inn. This Inn is in the center of town, which allows you to walk to virtually everything. The bay is a few blocks away as well. We stayed at the carriage house which is next to the main house. Parking available right in front. We reserved the New Talbot Room and the French Country Room. Both rooms were spacious, clean, and decorated nicely. We enjoyed our stay here (although a bit pricey - $1,000 for 2 nights per room). Looking at the prices on their website, none appear to be that high for a May weekend so I'm not sure why our total seems so out of the website price range. Anyway, nice place to stay while visiting St. Michael's. read more

We had reservations for 17-19th of august. On the 10th we had a covid scare and so I asked My husband to call and ask IF we have to cancel due to covid what will happen to our reservation? They said that we could change the date. Today , the day of our trip, they called and cancelled our reservation because we have been flagged with covid. The scare that we had was negative test for my employee. So there was no COVID. They will not let us reschedule and they will not let us arrive. We have lost $800. We have been so covid conscious and have cancelled all of our trips because of covid. We were so looking forward to this. No one around us has a positive covid test. Bad business. Be careful dealing with them. They have likely already rented the room out and they are double dipping. Your comments are absolutely false. That's all there is. People should be aware of you and the theft that happens. I guess anything goes since it's covid time. Interesting that when I asked you for a copy of the email you said that I am harassing you. I was in a cancer treatment chair. My voice was not raised, especially because of all the patients witting next to me and all I wanted was a copy of the email. You hung up on me. Shame on you. Instead of trying to make it right. Your first sentence of "we do not go out of our way to cancel/move reservation" is exactly the point. Customers are not your priority. You did not communicate well and I am paying the price. read more

We stayed at The Carriage House for two evenings in April. (8th-10th). This is located next to the Inn. Parking was right in front of the Carriage House. We booked the charming first floor French Country Room. The king size bed was so comfy. My husband enjoyed the reading nook (chair and lamp) on his side of the bed. I relaxed on the chaise lounge and watched tv which was next to my side of the bed as we waited for the dining room, (located next door in the Inn), to open at 8:30am. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast made by Travis. A great chef!! The Inn is located just steps away from Talbot Street where most of the shops and restaurants are. Highly recommend The Old Brick Inn for a quiet and relaxing get away. This was our first time in St. Michaels and we plan on going back in the Fall! read more

The 2 star rating was because the have wonderful homemade cookies in the Kemp House every day. Everything else sucked. I had no idea when I booked through Priceline that we weren't in the main building. Apparently the Kemp House two blocks away is what I booked and it is an old dump with no perks of being in a bed and breakfast like a shared living area (which is important to me since I am an early riser and my husband sleeps in), no coffee, no access to a person without tracking down a phone number to call. We blew a fuse blow drying my hair the first day and when we called the manager blamed the electrician who had recently been out. I asked why we got that room if they knew it had a problem and was told it was the only room available. I had booked the room 4 months in advance!! I was later offered a room on the third floor in the main building but after looking at the windows from the outside and considering we had already unpacked we weren't moving. We just had to turn the AC unit off each day for me to blow dry. (Colonel Kemp room FYI) There is only a standup shower (no tub) and the bathroom sink isn't in the bathroom. (Not evident from the Priceline listing.) Maid service left us toilet paperless on day 2. We didn't get any of the breakfast that should have been included because their breakfast area was open to the public (something else not advertised) and the line to get in the door was ridiculous each morning. We paid about $250 a night. SO not worth the cost. I feel completely ripped off by what we did get. read more

On 8/20/23 I made a reservation with The Old Brick Inn for one night. Two weeks later I was notified that only 2 night reservations were acceptable and they noticed the discrepancy immediately. In speaking with George the owner I suggested that he should honor my original reservation in good faith. George told me he was not in business to do favors, he was in the business to make money. He also said that no one in St. Michaels would allow me to make a reservation for only one night. I wrote to the company multiple times saying that I wanted a written confirmation that my original reservation was cancelled and there would be no charges to my credit card. I did not receive that confirmation. As of today , Old Brick Inn fraudulently charged my credit card for a one night stay. I notified one of the managers who said she would remove the charge however it might take a few days. May I suggest if you go to St. Michaels that you stay clear of the Old Brick Inn!! read more

I had never been to St. Michaels before but a mini-honeymoon seemed like the perfect opportunity. My husband and I got married at the courthouse and hit the road for a weekend getaway to celebrate. From the moment we walked in the doors of the Old Brick Inn, we were greeted with their extremely friendly staff. Carrying my bouquet in, we were asked if we were celebrating something. When I informed them we had just married, they brought up a complimentary tray of sweets, a mini champagne bottle, and champagne flutes. The Old Brick Inn is comprised of 3 different houses. Luckily for us, the Wrightson Jones House is the main house where everyone checks in so we didn't have to venture back out. I've seen other people complain about having to go to a different house in their review. I can only speak to the Wrightson Jones house, but I thought it was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. From the staff, to the breakfast, to our room - I had zero complaints. I've included some pictures of our room - the Chesapeake room. It's been deemed their "honeymoon suite" and I totally get why it would be! The jacuzzi tub fit myself (5'7") and my husband (6'4") with ease. The entire room is overly white and ornate so it looks bridal. The bed is just gorgeous and made it feel super romantic. The fireplace is a great addition to the room too making us feel at home. The last morning, I was drying my hair and ended up blowing a fuse in the room. Luckily, it was at the same time we were scheduled to head downstairs for breakfast. I informed the staff and they quickly fixed it so all was operating by the time we finished our meal. I know that was another complaint from someone but... it happens! These buildings are old (and still in excellent condition!) so that's normal. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the town to the room and hope to be able to go back every year to celebrate our anniversary. Pictures are attached. Enjoy! read more

This was ok. We stayed in Kemp House, and I think the other buildings are probably nicer. For the price, we thought the rooms would be bigger and better decorated. They had all this cheesy art and garage sale knick knacks. None of the clocks in the whole place had the right time. Towels were ratty and old. Aesthetics seem to be an afterthought here, but it was relatively clean. What people need to know about this place is that there are 3 separate buildings. Kemp House is a block and a half away from the other two, and there is no front desk in that building. To check in, you have to go to the main one. Breakfast is also in the main one. Kemp House is kind of a satellite house. If you decide to come here, which I would not try to dissuade you from, try to stay in the main building, as the rooms are probably better and breakfast is right there. Breakfast was the only real redeeming factor, but you can actually have breakfast here without staying there as it's open to the public. The food was great - we would certainly eat there again on next visit, we would just stay elsewhere. Staff is also friendly, no complaints there. read more

My father and I were taking a trip to the Eastern Shore. We were winging it, so made no plans. Driving around the beautiful town of Saint Michaels, we decided to try to stay at The Old Brick Inn, a quaint bed and breakfast. We had no reservations. The staff was very pleasant, informative and helpful. Since none of the rooms had two beds, they gave us a great deal for two rooms. My father and I were both pleased with the rate. We stayed in the newer of the three buildings, the Carriage House. The other two are historic. Both of our rooms were mini-suites. My room was recently renovated and it was beautiful with an extremely comfortable bed. My father's was beautiful as well. The breakfast was delicious. I had the vegetable omelette with a side of bacon. I have to say the omelette was probably one of the best prepared omelettes I have ever had. The eggs were perfectly prepared and cooked throughout the entire omelette. The bacon, being bacon, was fantastic. How could it be otherwise? ;) The staff was so pleasant the entire stay. Melissa (I think) was always so chipper and helpful. She gave us discount coupons to visit the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (another review coming soon), told us about the town, options for dinner, and the area in general. I would have given them 5 stars, but there are a couple of areas of improvement, as I see it. First, the thermostats in our building controlled basically the floor, not the room. Second, one of the televisions in my room (there were two - one across from the bed and the other in the sitting area of the room) did not work. They did provide directions on how to turn their system on, but it didn't work. They also had directions on what to do if the system would not turn on. Those did not work either. I actually tried to turn their cable box on manually, but it simply wouldn't cooperate. This is a charming place, with impeccable service. The location is great, with easy access to restaurants and historic sites, museums, and a beautiful countryside. I hope to visit the Eastern Shore again. If I do, I will definitely stay at The Old Brick Inn. read more

My wife and I live outside of Baltimore and were looking for a long weekend getaway in October. We were looking specifically for a small, walkable town that was less than a 2 hours drive. Ended up picking St Michael's and specifically the Old Brick Inn based on the the pictures and central location. Very pleased with the room we had in the Carriage House. Room was clean and the bed was one of the better ones I've ever slept on (winner is still the W hotel in NYC). One of the highlights of our stay was the food and ambiance of the cafe 401 which is in the courtyard of the Inn. After looking through the menu, I ended up going with the and she went with the salmon dish. Both meals were cooked perfectly and delicious. Also, picked two moderately priced pino noirs off the wine list and were not disappointed in either. All said and done, we had a wonderful weekend and would absolutely recommend both the Old Brick Inn and cafe 401. read more

Pros : In the middle of all the action that St Michael's has to offer. Staff is polite and courteous. Cons : I'd recommend that the inn update their photos, as they don't accurately depict the rooms. The Elizabeth Rose Garden room is not as it appears online. In the photo online, the bed is shown in the more open area of the room. The queen bed is now placed under a sloping wall making it difficult for one person to access the bed. I'm 5'11" and my husband is 6'5" and we knocked our heads on this wall multiple times trying to get in and out of bed. The inn, in general, is a little rough around the edges compared to other bed & breakfasts I've stayed in - not only our room, but the common living room area, as well. I also saw SO many reviews about these wonderful cookies that were delivered to your room - we didn't receive any cookies - they must have stopped doing that in favor of a plate of brownies they leave in the common area. read more

While this Inn is conveniently located and the room was spacious, that is where the good comments end. My room was over $300 per night and the Inn couldn't even offer bottles of water or filtered water! There wasn't even a vending machine to get a drink. The staff was very hard to find and leaves at 7pm and while there is an after hours phone number, they were not very friendly. When I asked if there was a place I could get water, I was told that I should just drink the water from the bathroom sink. Not worth the money. read more

Spent one night at The Old Brick Inn -- the first night of a four-day drive around the Chesapeake Bay starting and ending in Round Hill, VIrginia. Our room, the Guinevere, was perfectly appointed with everything from wine glasses/corkscrew to two boxes of Kleenex (bathroom and main room -- I hate when inns expect you to blow your nose in toilet paper -- sorry, pet peeve). Big, bold furnishings included a massive antique wardrobe and an oddly appropriate suit of armor. Brick floors and walls and room darkening shades were nice features. Fully functional Directv and WiFi. The owner, George, was super helpful in pointing us to shops and restaurants and other things to check out. He also sells awesome wines at retail, not restaurant or hotel, prices. If you're a wine fan you have got to check out his collection, which he keeps in an perfectly temperature controlled room. On the off chance he still has some Alpha Omega Napa cab, do not miss it. The inn's courtyard serves a very nice breakfast -- do not be afraid to order poached eggs as they do them perfectly. Amazing B&B. Centrally located and very clean. In a word - charming. Front desk was very nice - owner came over and chatted (in a good way) at breakfast. Furnishings in my room (french country room in the carriage house) were beautiful, well preserved, antiques. Wish I had them at home. The bathroom had a little organza satchel stuffed with bath salts (for the jacuzzi tub), and nice shampoo,..... Lovely gas fireplace. Comfy bed. Just great stuff! I had my bike and they were extremely helpful in finding a place for me to put it (right out front). I've been assured that I should visit some of the other rooms as they are equally lovely, but honestly, when (not if) I go back, I'll always ask for the french room. Beautiful. Breakfast was just okay - french toast with bacon. Love french toast but this just didn't do it for me. The bacon had some herbs sprinkled on top and was cooked perfectly (albeit room temperature when arrived at my table). But then, who doesn't love bacon, no matter how it's prepared?? Oh, and they had an amazing winfest going on while I was there. I didn't have the opportunity to visit it but it looked like loads of fun. A reason for a future visit. read more

My husband and I just got back from a weekend to celebrate our 2nd anniversary and we are so glad we chose to stay here!It is located right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants and the staff can direct you anywhere you want to go. We stayed in the Old Bick Inn a couple of months ago. The rooms were nicely furnished, the food great but a couple of things stood out that would make me think twice before making another reservation. 1. We stayed in the carriage building and found that the thermostat controls ALL the rooms in the building making it difficult to get the temperature to a comfortable level unless we used the gas fireplace. 2. They were understaffed. We had to go find someone to clean our room. It was late afternoon. The desk clerk ended up being our housekeeper. 3. I really enjoyed the breakfast sausage and inquired about getting the recipe. The male cook (longish dark hair, red baseball cap) told us he would email it to us. We commented on that on day two and he offered to sell me a frozen 25 pound tube os sausage. I don't know any family that could eat 25 pounds of sausage. Anyway, he didn't send the recipe by email as he promised. I subsequently called twice to inquire about it and was told that the desk clerk would follow up. Well, that didn't work so I asked a friend who,lives in St. Michaels to stop by and inquire. No luck there either. While this is not that big of a deal I do think that promises should be kept. If he didn't want to share it I would have understood. So, overall I've given the Old Brick Inn three stars......I will not recommend it to friends. read more

We stayed in the Chesapeake Suite for one night as an early Valentines date. It was wonderful! The service was absolutely fantastic. They had great wine you could buy, 24 hour muffins, coffee, and treats down stairs. We had breakfast in bed which was amazing. Everything was in walking distance. You can't beat the location, convenience, and charm of this place. To top it all, you're greeted with friendly staff and polite guests. We stayed in the main house and although you can hear creaks and other people taking a shower in the next room, everyone pretty much kept to themselves and we didn't stay much in our room anyway to find it distracting. The amenities are simple and clean. We stayed in the Elizabeth Room which is on the 3rd floor and one of the smallest but we found it charming and comfortable. The check-in and check-out process is a breeze. Every morning, we were pleasantly awoken by the sweet smell of bacon/sausage. Breakfast is served within less than 2 minutes of being seated. Throughout the day, freshly made cookies call your name from the lobby. The mini-fridge is always stocked with bottled water. The inn is located in the center of Talbot Street, we walked everywhere! I will be recommending this to everyone and definitely coming back. read more

We were very happy with our stay. While it was a little pricey the location is perfect and the rooms were very nice and comfortable. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. We personally did not have to drive anywhere. Our only complaint (more a personal request) was that there was no microwave nor were you able to order movies through paper per view. Breakfast was served downstairs in the dining area for an hour and half period. Would have been nice if you had the option to have it sent to your room and for a longer time period. Staff were friendly and helpful a and the facilities and rooms were very clean. Refreshments and small snack were offered in a refreshment room 24-7. Keurig in the room with coffee and tea bag options. We stayed in the Chesapeake suite. read more

Unfortunately unpleasant experience. They clearly are racists towards people of Hispanic/ Latino decent... the younger blonde woman (snoody and condescending) was unbelievably rude to my husband and I , once she saw he wasnt white her face dropped and she changed her tone quickly. Aside from the rude staff the room was nice.. but with the overpowering mold smell was too much to stomach. We actually ended up leaving because of these conditions and staying at The Harbour Inn. While we loved the idea of The old brick inn , we didnt love the actual establishment. We will not be back! read more

I have several food issues including Celiac (no gluten) and each day they had several food options for me. This quaint hotel was in a great location. My husband and I were able to walk to many restaurants, shops and attractions. The service was impeccable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our room, Monarch's Landing, was clean and comfortable. We loved the little balcony. The breakfast that was included was tasty and each day there were delicious fresh baked goods for us to snack on. I made a web-reservation, carefully selecting my room. After checking in and opening the door to the room, I was met with the overpowering smell of mold. When I spoke with the woman at registration, she inspected the room, told me it was an old building and asked if I had a mold allergy. She offered other accommodations. Subsequently, the OBI requested I pay an additional fee for having changed rooms. While this is a pretty place with courtesy staff and good breakfasts, I think they missed the point. The accommodation should be memorable - and not adverse to the health of its guests. read more

Room was great, except for the shower. It was in the jacuzzi tub which would have been if I was an acrobat and could easily traverse getting in and out. The most frustrating thing was the breakfast though. We were the first ones in the dining room and the last to be served. Thus we waited 45 minutes for two small pancakes and 2 slices of bacon. My wife and I recently enjoyed staying at the Old Brick Inn. Very nice people work here and we're very helpful with everything we asked for. The best parts: location is right in the middle of town. Walk to everything. Breakfast was amazingly good. Room was decent. Stayed in the French room which had plenty of room and the bed was comfortable. Worst customer experience ever! This coming December would have been our 3rd at Old Brick Inn for St. Michael's Midnight Madness as we love the town and really enjoy spending that weekend there. Last summer I booked 2 rooms across from each other so we could stay close to friends of ours. The entire weekend, the room the friends stayed in had no hot water. Very frustrating, no adjustment to the bill, just an apology. The day we came home I booked the same two rooms for this years Midnight Madness (2019). I was given a price and have a confirmation email with said agreed price clearly noted (which by the way, the owner was called and agreed to December 2018). I received a phone call a week ago telling me that rate should have never been agreed to and the employee who gave it to me is no longer employed there. I was told they would not honor the previous agreed rate even though I have a confirmation email. I truly believe it is not my problem that you choose to hire employees that make decisions you won't stand behind and now I, as the customer have to pay the price for that. I received a phone call from the owner who talked to me as though I was an idiot (I'm sure because I am a woman). I was told I sounded like a 12 year old child. I repeated myself several times stating I understand that the past employee gave me a rate he didn't want to honor but that is NOT my problem. The correct way to handle this situation would have been to honor those rates for this year but explain to me that next year would cost more. I was told I could stay in a different room for a lower rate. That's not what I agreed to 7 months ago. I'm trying to figure out what $100 more per night was buying me exactly! I just stayed in the Kemp House and found it to be delightful. I read the previous review from JenWillR and couldn't disagree more. The historic building is gorgeous and the shady yard area was great. It was quiet and relaxing. But still walking distance to everything I wanted to see in town. The room had its own air conditioner that I could crank up to make the room feel like a refrigerator. There were plenty of supplies in the room. Breakfast was awesome. I had the breakfast tacos with fresh avocado, there was no wait time at all. The Old Brick Inn and their Café probably has the best lodging and breakfast in town. read more

We had a reservation for Christmas in Saint Michaels this year from December 12 through the 15th. We booked our reservation at the beginning of July and paid our deposit. They called me last Thursday and said that they had screwed up and that an employee charged us the wrong rate and that if we wanted to stay at the hotel for this holiday weekend we have to pay $400 more. I told the hotel that they should honor the rate that was given (and booked) as it was late in the game for us to find other accommodations. Jen, the manager, told me the owner said that we either had to pay the extra money or they would cancel our reservation. An employees mistake should not become our extra expense. We do not recommend this hotel in any way. Thankfully, we were able to get accommodations for a two bedroom suite for $500 less money. Shame on this Inn for doing this. If I can give this place zero stars I would. read more

The inn is in a great location and is quaint. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Thomas Point room on the 3rd floor of the main building. We did have a few issues for which the front desk was very apologetic. We booked for three people and paid the 3rd person supplement for each night. When we arrived in the room there were only towels for 2 people. We picked up an extra towel that night before reception closed, but the next day, they again only left two. Housekeeping didn't take the wet washcloths but left them in the corner of the shower, nor did they replace the toiletries so we were out of shower gel and shampoo on the last day. The temperature couldn't be adjusted in our room and it was freezing, so we climbed up and manually shut the louvers in 2 of the 3 a/c vents. The 3rd was broken so we blocked the air with a hand towel. Seriously, it was 80 degrees outside but we turned on the electric fireplace to warm up the room until we came up with the shutting louvers solution. BUT, the room was very quiet, large, well appointed, and clean. The bed was comfy with a soft comforter and extra blankets. There is a nice, large living room for all to use on the first floor. There is also a sunny room with lots of windows right off the reception area which offers cookies, ice and water 24 hours a day. If you want tea, just go into the breakfast room and there is an electric pot on the table with tea bags displayed. Push the button on the pot down and the water heats super fast. There are mugs there or paper cups to go. The breakfast room is darling with bagels/muffins available. It is not a buffet, but a set item which is served to each table. After you sit down, a server will bring you coffee and a carafe of juice. Then she'll bring your breakfast. There isn't a menu or a choice, so if you have dietary issues, for example we were vegetarians, just tell her when she brings your juice so they don't waste bacon etc. on you. The prices were good and I felt it was a good value. Oh, the Thomas Point Room doesn't have a bath, only a shower, so if this is important to you, just check our the description of the room before you select it. There was a hair dryer in the room. I would like to return and I feel that our issues were really just a case of sloppy housekeeping, but may be an isolated incident. I wouldn't mark the inn down because of it. Everything else was just delightful and we will always hold good memories of Mothers Day (my sister and I treated our mom for the weekend). read more
