We were very disappointed with our Mother's Day experience at Inn At Perry Cabin. First off, we had a reservation they had put us outside when we requested to be inside the restaurant. We asked to be moved to the dining room. Staff was extremely rude and stuck us in the back in the dining room by ourselves and ignored us until we asked to be served. For $155 per person, we expected a much higher level of quality and service. The service throughout the meal was extremely slow, the food was mediocre at best, and the brunch setup felt confusing and underwhelming. There was a buffet for salads and sides, but then guests still had to select an entrée from a dinner-style menu in the middle of the day. The dessert buffet was nearly empty by the time we got there, and we ended up being served parfaits instead. They didn't even provide parfait spoons, and we had to ask for a knife just to scrape the bottom of the glass. The property itself is beautiful, but unfortunately the dining experience did not come close to justifying the price. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day. read more

It was good , but if I had it to do over i would have ordered the breakfast off the menu. Everything was delicious, mostly breakfast foods . You could have your eggs made to order if you'd like. The breakfast from the menu had pretty much everything- it looked like a perfect portion. We had an epic stay, even with some fog & a closed pool. We had a wonderful room with a gas fireplace and a view of the water. The bathroom was spacious, with a soaking tub & separate shower. The plush bathrobes & slippers were a nice touch. Our outside patio had a table with chairs & awning that can be opened with a remote. We had a mini fridge that was hidden under a counter. The coffee maker was nice. We requested a tea kettle too. The special touches (packets of honey, complimentary coffee & tea in the lobby & bottled water, loaned umbrellas) really added to our stay. The ironing board and hair dryer were convenient. I forgot toiletries. All you have to do is ask and the front desk staff will give you a toothbrush & toothpaste. The valet staff provide rides to town. Restaurants and stores are so close that you can walk or ride one of the Inn's bikes. The grounds are beautiful. I bet this property is amazing during the summer. There is a "resident" Heron that makes appearances. We saw him while taking a walk. Seating areas are all over the property. We enjoyed the fire pits. During the holidays, the decorations add cheer. When guests check in, a welcome packet includes a list of daily activities. The calendar is also on your television screen. Heather made our stay extraordinary. She even escorted us to the room when I wanted to see it before unpacking. Ryan was kind and gave tips on what to see in town. Jay gave the 5pm welcome toast in the library (where there is a hidden door) and shared history about the Inn. The guests weren't in a hurry to leave. Ellie loaned us games from the giant inventory. Mason gave us extra bottled water & shared more details about the property. Daniel answered questions earlier in the week. Every employee was great about making guests feel important. We had lunch at Purser's Pub on the main floor. It is cozy and fun. I suggest looking at hours of when things close. The gift shop closes at 5pm. It is tiny and has limited items. The Star restaurant serves breakfast (seating ends promptly at 10:30am). Turn down service ( 5p-9p ) includes home made cookies made daily. We savored every moment of our visit. Tip: Bring Tervis cups for the room. The tiny cups provided weren't sufficient. If something happens, allow the team to make things right. We had a hiccup in the bathroom & it was fixed while we had lunch. I have seen the Inn many times while riding a boat. We watched "Wedding Crashers" after we got home to look for the Inn on film. read more

The hotel is stunning. The views are spectacular. The staff is so friendly. The gym wasn't amazing, but people probably aren't coming here to workout. They have all of the equipment, but nothing too fancy. I loved that you could use the hotel bikes to go into town. Or borrow kayaks whenever. The food was great at the inn. Coffee was available all morning right outside Stars (the restaurant). The tennis court wasn't in pristine condition (perhaps because in rained). And the rackets we were given were kids rackets (the one adult racket had a a broken string). But that's ok. Again, no big deal. The grounds were stunning. The flowers were beyond gorgeous. This resort is by far the best experience I've ever had. I can't recall exactly how we stumbled upon this place.... I think it started with a bet I had with my boyfriend about where whenever favorite movies wedding crashers was filmed. I had always thought that it had to of been in Nantucket or some thing up north and upon googling it we figured out that a lot of it was actually filmed in MD!!! Being from Virginia; MD was so close that we just simply had to look into that. Online and some of the YouTube videos about the location made it clear that this was some thing we had to see for ourselves. I was celebrating my 29th birthday, and I decided that a little getaway trip would be exactly the way to ring it in. I was really impressed online and even with the concierge over the phone. I was able to see the options for activities and amenities and quickly called to reserve a sail boat tour. It seemed reasonable for a sailboat sunset tour $100 a person. I booked that for myself and my boyfriend. Upon checking in, the staff was so professional and courteous. We had asked if we could possibly check in early and they were completely able to do that for us. We booked a beautiful room with an ocean view. The room itself was just the right size and had an amazing view to the boat dock, which was just a hop and a skip from the rear entrance of the resort. Our experience was at 4pm. We lined up and to my surprise nobody else showed up for our tour.....it hadn't dawned on me yet but ON TOP of an already perfect stay my boyfriend decided to plan a private sailboat tour PROPOSAL!!!!!! It still feels like a dream. The whole inn staff was in on it. He had been calling for weeks to make sure everything was just right...and above all....a total surprise. And it really was. The inn recommended the best photographer and the best places for our special dinner. Apart from this incredible moment I will never forget, the staff really went above and beyond all weekend. In a hurry to pack and anxious to start the celebration, I had forgotten a toothbrush and needed a bottle stopper for our celebratory champagne. Quick call to room service and the most high quality items were brought in a jiffy. Robes were exchanged daily and the room was always kept tidy. This place is the epitome of class and elevated customer experience. I truly cannot say this enough, it's 1000% worth every penny. We booked 2 weeknights (cheaper rate) and one weekend night. Highly recommend considering that to cut costs where u can. It was nice when the hotel wasn't at capacity to have so much to ourselves. Serene views, open fire pits, romantic walks, this place delivers in ways I never even knew possible. Also make sure you take advantage of the calendar of free activities offered to guests. I don't have Inn at Perry Cabin money, but I have stay at the Wildset across the street and bike over money! Riding my little cruiser bike into the well manicured lawns felt like a dream. There's a little garden and aviary on the left, beautifully lit tennis courts (clay!! my husband was so happy), golf course, and more! We tried to grab a crab omelette for brunch but sadly breakfast ends at 11. The staff invited us to stroll the grounds that overlook the marina instead and we had a great time sitting on the Adirondack chairs, playing some cornhole, and grabbing a drink. The Inn at Perry Cabin is the location of the iconic wedding scene in Wedding Crashers and it is just as gorgeous IRL as it is on film. I can't wait to stop back for a proper visit! read more

This place is as pricey as le Meurice in Paris and as nice as a very average hotel. Not comfortable. Not visually appealing. Room is very small...for $1200 and bathroom is run down and mediocre. The shower...is in the tub. The decor in the room is cheap. Room is horribly laid out. The bar is DEPRESSING. Bartender was disinterested. Seriously... won't be back. I have no problem spending $1200 a night on a room if I get a great experience. This is NOT even close. read more

Christmas dinner at the inn at Perry Cabin. We had very high hopes. Beautiful settings, beautiful restaurant. Food was excellent but service? That was simply from another space and time. Most of the food was buffet/self serve. The quality of the food was excellent, but still we felt rushed when it came to service. Our cocktails arrived, we were getting our buffet appetizers and barely finished them, let alone our cocktails... we were looking at our main course already!!! We also ordered separate glasses of wine to go with our main course, so we left our cocktails almost untouched and moved on to the main course. Our two bottles of water were finished and waiter ( Thomas) was nowhere to be seen so we went and got a bottle of water from the buffet area. When Thomas finally arrived, he was wondering why we had a bottle of sparkling water instead of still. I mentioned that was what I could find, no apologies or anything for not being attentive. For a party of four the total came to $800+ including gratuity. All I can say is, individual service or not, do better Perry cabin! I know it was Christmas dinner but the restaurant wasn't even full. No excuse for such service like this, especially when you're going to charge that much. I have to say there was another African American waiter who picked up the slack for Thomas and served our table for a while, and the staff greeting us was extremely courteous and so was the boy who spoke Spanish and was watching over us in the buffet area. We visited this month. The grounds are beautiful and the town is in easy walking distance. We were disappointed that our room would not cool down at night. We set the A/C at the lowest setting, however 70 is the lowest the temperature would go. We inquired, and were told it would be fixed, it wasn't. The Stars restaurant was a great let down. For the price of the prix fixe dinner, we were very disappointed , tasteless entrees that we sent back. We are usually easy to please and were excited for our anniversary getaway... can't recommend and sadly won't return. Most disappointing was that a manager never approached us to help or rectify our issues. read more

Grounds aren't that big but well kept and cozy 4. Love the glass buildings for isolated dinner 5. The town close by is dead dead during the week but becomes rather bustling during the weekend. During the dead week days, If you are not white as in race, would not recommend venturing in this town alone. I was scared for my safety and my child as everyone looks at you and follows you with their gaze, creepy! I would recommend just staying at the Inn grounds and leave this town which you must drive through right away or maybe walk with a guy or in a large group or a concealed carry, whichever is an option for you. In October, my mom and I enjoyed a weekend at this beautiful resort. It was my first time in St Michael's and will certainly not be my last at the Inn. The grounds are beautiful! So exquisite that my mom and I walked the grounds each day of our stay. And, each day we found something new to delight our senses!! We loved it so much, we took advantage of touring the grounds with the horticulturalist, Lisa. LOVED HER! We asked all of our questions about our own gardens and learned so much about the care and attention given to the seasonal updates done at the Inn. We ate breakfast each morning and one (high price) dinner at the restaurant; we ate dinner our first night at the pub - all great food! We would skip dinner in the restaurant next time and opt for a place in town (walking distance). Our housekeeper was Amber. She was very kind and left us personal notes and treats each night. I love the Inn at Perry Cabin, I really do. It is relaxing, the people who work here are always trying hard to serve, the building and grounds are gorgeous. I have never had anything less than a stellar stay at the Inn at Perry Cabin. This weekend too was fantastic (with the exception I note at the end of this review). We had a premium 2nd floor room with a postcard view of the yard, the harbor, the water and the boats. Our room had windows on 2 walls so we felt like we were in a treehouse with water and sky all around us. We could also tell that the Inn has been training its staff in order to elevate the service everywhere. People knew us by name. Everyone from the valet to the desk personnel to the housekeeping staff were friendly and obviously aiming to serve - and were given the authority to do so. When we checked in, we were asked to initial a document that quoted our room rate BUT the room rate on the document did NOT match the rate identified in our email confirmation. They changed it immediately. That is a reflection of high quality people with good training providing good service with the ability to make things right. The little touches are what elevates this resort. The cleanliness. The fire pits that are all working perfectly. The people who dry off the chairs after the morning dew. The cookies in our room after turn down service. The lights along the walking paths and over the croquet court. I am willing to pay for treatment like this every once in a while. I wanted to feel pampered and I am willing to pay for it too. However, the prices are approaching a level where I will begin to demand more. Certainly the room, while it had a beautiful view, did not really match the room rate I paid. It was nice to be sure. But was the room as nice as the rate? I don't think so. The rate certainly did NOT match my accommodations regarding the bathroom. The bathroom was not up to the standard of a resort like the Inn. It was old and dated. The shower was in a tub, the tub floor was curved and it was difficult to shower and stay stable while standing. The shower leaked. Badly. The shower was not completely enclosed (partial glass enclosure like a European shower). This meant that water went everywhere all over the floor. The shower mat and then my feet after my shower got soaking wet after each shower - the entire floor was soaking wet after my shower. I feel sorry for my spouse who took the 2nd shower. This leaking was NOT a new problem either - the carpeting right outside the bathroom door had been replaced. No doubt because it had gotten soaked and become mildewed many times before. The patch job on the carpet outside the bathroom door was done VERY badly too. The bathroom situation was just not up to par, certainly for the price I paid. To be clear - I did not complain to anyone at the time. But, I note that I will be very careful before coming back to the Inn at Perry Cabin. I might ask for a newly renovated room before I pay this high a room rate. Or I might just look at another inn that will meet my needs and match my expectations. I hope that there is some serious renovation in the future of this place. I would hate for the Inn at Perry Cabin to slide in the rankings more than it has already done. I want to come back and NOT have anything to complain about regardless of the room rate that I pay! I have only given the Inn at Perry Cabin a 4 star review. It looses that elusive 5th star because of the quality of the interior of our room and, in particular, the bathroom. read more

From the moment you slide down the driveway into the architectured arboretum entry, your arrival literally announced through a sonorous bell ring, the Inn seeks to challenge you to resist its charm, thoughtfulness, and comfort. Many businesses will say they treat every customer with special service; this is the first time I have encountered a business that genuinely made that experience a reality. The website is thorough and easy to navigate, with clear pricing and options for rooms throughout the year, transparently showing updated offers, and, as soon as I confirmed a reservation, I was sent an online catalog with deeper information about their services and amenities. There are many good nuggets of information on the Inn online and worth the research to find videos, articles, and podcast interviews through the years to get a sense of the rich atmosphere that envelopes you within. I had been tracking reviews heavily and was disturbed to see someone just before our own visit claim they had been mistreated due to being gay. As a woman with a trans woman partnering on this visit, I can say I wondered regularly if they had mistaken me for some ultra celebrity- but in fact it seems to be simply The Way of the Inn to make things easy and beyond comfortable. I called ahead a few times with specific questions on activities and rooms and given thorough answers every time, with follow ups and total access to anything I showed interest in. Which doesn't ignore reality- while the Inn was almost at full capacity, I rarely saw more than 40 people together at any one time, and it felt easy to be socially distant and like it was a private intimate hideaway. The majority is the population you would still expect to see: some families with small kids, some baby-mooners, many couples of all ages, all drifting around. People with canes can probably get through without trouble, but anyone with greater mobility issues will probably not: the Inn is still centurues old and many paths are gravel or stairs or too small for a wheelchair. The only times I sensed a normal hotel feel were during the high dinner hours. I was surprised at how easy and welcome everyone was to take any small opportunity to chat and enjoy small talk- it was like being at an adult summer camp where the main activity was lounging. After the bell rings you in, at reception you receive a branded zippered pouch with your current itinerary, keycards, map, and events schedule. Our check-in was less than half an hour delayed but we were gifted drink comps to use at the bar for the wait, a delightful extra perk to start our trip. I was impressed at how regularly and fully they updated their activities- it is kept at the front desk, the gym, and on the tv (though not very easily viewed there). Nightly turndown service was fresh water bottles and a variety of cookies. We often passed the cleaning staff in the room, and they were just as informed and happy to answer questions as the front desk. Stewards were constantly at the entryway and rushed to open doors at any convenience. Everything lives up to and surpasses what you expect- the views, full of the constant St. Michaels wharf and yet ever-changing views with the clouds and sun, sumptuous rooms, inspired and rich food, fun bubbly cocktails, stocked gift shop. It delivers every promise in a quiet unassuming way as a true oasis. read more

Avoid this hotel at all costs. People warned us that their quality had gone down, and it turned out to be true. Drains clogged, brown water coming out of the tub faucet that did not run clear after running for a while, no closets, just a fully exposed clothing rack in the bathroom. No bath supplies in the room except for a bar of soap. Room so crammed with furniture that you couldn't open the dresser drawers that were blocked by an overstuffed chair. We tried to rearrange things but it didn't help. This is an extremely expensive hotel that is not at all worthy of its pricing. The grounds are pretty but they don't make up for the poor quality overall. read more

Very disappointed in the resort. Our room has several issues. We had a bandaid on the ceiling of the bedroom holding the sprinkler head in place. One of the chairs in the sitting area was in disrepair. The lampshade had a big brown stain on it. I complained to front desk. The best they could do for me was to offer a future night stay free. I won't be returning because we were there to attend an out of State wedding. They then offered to credit the $180 resort fee. Keep in mind that we paid $2000 to stay there for two nights. Great place but a cocky and belittling attitude from the first employee we needed to interact with....We had to make changes to our dates and the reservations, and the "reservation manager" Alex had the attitude of a premier club bouncer with an air of arrogance and entitlement which is unusual for any St Michael's establishment. Needless to say, having stayed in similar places, his demeanor was interesting. We were hoping to book a wedding for our eldest but were so turned off by the rigidity of the front person, we opted out. I will say this, in 2024 there should be more historical African American art on the walls here. Given the contributions of Black in the Chesapeake. There are captains, boat makers, waterman and heroes that should be recognized also. For this, they fall short.You will find more pictures of shellfish then African Americans on the walls. I originally found this place years ago while looking for a place that offered a sailing certification course. We never did get around to that course. Instead, we booked a 2 night midweek stay last week in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. Early June is a GREAT time to visit, BTW. You have a high probability of having beautiful weather and smaller crowds. Overall, I found our entire experience to be extremely enjoyable and most important, relaxing. If the world wasn't so big, I'd say we'd definitely return. But, time is short and with so many other options, who knows! Fingers crossed. The property itself, from the building to the grounds, are beautiful and the history of it all is so intriguing. Be sure to read up on that, if you're interested. We took advantage of the bikes out front and road into town one day. It's been so long since I've done that and it was so fun (although a little precarious on the narrow sidewalks). Later, we brought cocktails outside from Pursers Pub and sat on the Adirondack chairs that line the banks of the river. The highlight of the trip was our 2hr morning sailing charter on the 38' Starlight with our Captain, Connor. We saw dolphins!! At first we were told by the front desk staff that the ship was at capacity for the time we were looking for (we checked approx 18hrs ahead) and that we wouldn't be able to partake in that activity. We were disappointed but there appeared to be nothing that could be done. Fast forward a few hours to when we called down to the front desk for another request and happened to inquire about the charter one more time, just in case. That particular staff member that we spoke with was well trained and very motivated to ensure we enjoyed our stay. She made no promises but within an hour or two had us booked on our charter. We were so grateful and impressed with her efforts - wish I remembered her name. The interiors have a sophisticated and neutral nautical vibe. Our room was cozy and clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable - made me reconsider what I'm sleeping on at home! We were in a room directly above the main entrance but on the 3rd floor. We didn't hear a thing the entire time we were there! Maybe it being the 3rd floor was the key? I thought we'd hear a lot more given the age of the building. The only detractors from our room was the very noticeable pull in our carpet and the 1/4 panel of glass on the tub that was meant to keep the water from the shower inside the tub. I don't know if I shower like a wild woman or what but it didn't work and I got water all over the floor and on the mat that I laid there to step on when I got out. Just put the full piece of glass in with a door or even a half piece of glass! My husband and I enjoyed every single meal we had at Stars (2 breakfasts and a dinner). I though the menu was creative and thoughtful. The portions were small but the ingredients were fresh and presented beautifully. I feel like I need to eat less when the food is exciting! It pains me to give the Inn less than 5 stars because the grounds, the rooms, the staff, and the service are truly top notch. The dining options, however, sadly do not match the rest of the amenities of the inn. The menus are appealing and reasonably priced, but the quality of the ingredients and execution is sorely lacking. When you stay at a luxury property, you expect gourmet dining, and it feels like IPC is trying to achieve that, but is missing the mark. I've eaten at all the restaurants around the property, but I'll highlight a recent disappointing meal had at Purser's Pub: the Delmarva crispy chicken sandwich. The menu description sounds delicious, but the sandwich itself was dry, both from the overcooked, rubbery chicken as well as the lack of sauce that had been described on the menu. I really love the Inn and will continue to return regardless of the food situation, but I really, really hope they invest in improving this area to make this a truly luxurious experience. read more

And the setting on Maryland's Eastern Shore is magnificent, What a view! Be sure to have dinner at Stars, the main dining room. It is Five Stars! Did a sunset cruise with Captain Sean. A must if you are visiting. Captain was personable & engaging as well as knowledgeable. If you are in the area and plan to stay include a boat cruise in your plans. The boats are gorgeous, the crew is knowledgeable and friendly and the harbor is so peaceful. We will be back! read more

Overall, the staff was very friendly (Mason and Mike were standouts) and the facilities are beautiful. However, it felt like we were paying for a five-star resort and getting a four-star experience. There are very limited food options and multiple times during the day when there is no food at all (notably between 11am-12pm). The entertainment on the televisions is very outdated (no option to log into your own streaming services). We enjoyed the daily activities and our room was lovely. But probably would not pay this much again for the overall quality of the experience. We considered giving this 3 stars but Mason was just too good, too many times :) read more

The grounds and landscaping is beautiful. House keeping services are erratic. On two occasions service was not provided at the appropriate times. Rooms are nice albeit small for about $1000 per night. Cost of breakfast is reasonable while dinner is $125 pp. Overall, it is a lovely place with well groomed grounds but not good value for my money. read more

My family and I stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and we were very disappointed with our experience. Given the exorbitant room rates and that it was a holiday weekend, we expected the hotel to have a more festive environment (handing out marshmallows at the fire pits, serving warm drinks on the porch, etc.). The hotel seemed under staffed and the employees seemed unenthused. Our waitress at the restaurant was lovely though. Very kind and helpful. While reading in the library, we could overhear staff members gossiping about their romantic lives (extremely unprofessional). Our Thanksgiving meal was very disappointing. Cold turkey and a very bizarre dessert of pumpkin soufflé paired with a purple sauce that tasted exactly like grape soda (a very odd pairing and not tasty). St. Michaels is a lovely town but I will chose other accommodations in the future. read more

The staff were friendly. The accommodations were small and only had one chair in the room. A chair for lounging, a bed, a desk (desk chair), a tv and a table. $1,000 a night. Food at the restaurant was average. Only a coffee maker in room. Towels were average. Importantly, the toilet ran all night and did not flush half the time. The restaurant here is amazing! Quality service and yummy food. My family loved the atmosphere and it was perfect for a family dinner during the holidays. The inside is beautiful and there's a huge roaring fireplace. They also make awesome drinks and there's a cute bar inside near the restaurant. The crab cakes were absolute heaven and the beed tartar was also wonderful. The crab cakes were a decent portion size which was really nice. Ask for tartar sauce for the crab cakes! read more

We came here to celebrate our ten year anniversary. We picked it because it was rated the nicest hotel near our house. The property is STUNNING, the staff is kind, young and diverse, the lobby smells amazing, the room is huge, and the views are just INCREDIBLE. But if you are a seasoned traveler and like places like the Four Seasons, you are going to find this place severely lacking. Today we had poor weather, which no one can control, but while looking for a nice quiet place to have a bottle of wine with my husband, we were left wanting. The main dining area wouldn't seat us and the bar, while empty, was too loud to have any sort of conversation. We finally decided to go to our room for room service, no one answered and my husband was left carrying a bottle of champagne and ice bucket to the furthest room on the property, unassisted. when we finally got through to order dessert, no joke, it came in a paper bag. I mean... I really had high hopes. This place is so close to being amazing but is just unwilling to go that last mile. I wanted to make this our new weekend getaway location but it's just not worth it. read more

A friend and I came here for high tea to celebrate our birthdays with our husbands and parents. Our table was fully surrounded by windows and overlooked a small marina on the bay. Our 4:30 reservation was perfectly timed to watch the sun set. We ordered the tea with champagne, which came out to be $30 a person. Tea included 3 finger sandwiches - turkey with cranberry jelly, salmon and cream cheese, and cucumber. It also included a scone and muffin slice with assorted spreads, and a pecan tart and chocolate tart. Our table had green tea, mint tea, and earl gray. Our waiter, Wayne, was attentive and detail oriented. The only negative is, I felt like wait staff was rushing us out of the dining room to prepare for dinner at 6 pm. We stayed onsite after our tea to enjoy the outdoor fires on premises. Overall, our experience was a relaxing and fun day trip from DC! read more
