This is a nice restaurant on the Eastern Shore. It's located at the Inn at Perry Cabin, which is beautiful and also famous for being a location for the movie, Wedding Crashers. We had an 8PM reservation at the beginning of April, for my birthday month. They immediately greeted me happy birthday we when arrived at Stars. I loved that. It was a weekday night so not very busy. We did have a window view, but since it was dark already we didn't have much of a view, except for when the lightening illuminated the sky. Then you could see the water and the dock and the Adirondack chairs across the lawn. I imagine it would be an amazing view in the day time. But even at night, it was lovely. With the white walls and high ceiling, somehow the space is still intimate and cozy. Service was also personable. Our lovely server told us about his upcoming trip to Spain and always made sure we had what we needed throughout dinner. I ordered the beef tenderloin and my husband had the sea bass. Both entrees were flavorful and hit the spot. If you are very hungry, I would recommend an appetizer. The entree portions are not huge, but they are enough if you're not too hungry. Gorgeous, peaceful setting and elegant feel to the entire place and experience. The prix fixe menu is like many in that you get small portions of nicely curated and prepared dishes. We were surprised at how full we were! The amusé bouche was an oyster in a light cream sauce (it's been a few days - I believe that's correct). Delicious, as was the light vegetable serving my boyfriend had since he is more vegetarian. The oyster stew was also wonderful (no wonder I was so full) and they provided a vegetable soup that was too. Our mains around the table were a black cod (again, I think that's accurate), and Maryland Crab Boil which really is a crab cake and very crab full. The fish had a nice crisp touch but tender and moist - all excellent and just enough for us. There was a vegan chocolate mousse made with avocado, a flourless dairy version, both good. We also had the panna cotte and an interesting donut with tropical fruit. I could tell my server wasn't quite impressed with the cake donut but I had to try it and it was just ok. Downsides? It was a 3 hour meal. Long breaks in between. Good thing we all like each other and have many stories to tell. Whether there was a large party going on or what, we don't know. They could have kept us more informed about timing and/or offered another round of wine but we were pretty much on our own in between as we were outside on the patio. Otherwise a five star experience and nice staff though they feel a bit young and at the mercy of the kitchen. Having been a waitperson it felt like they were afraid to interact to tell us about timing. But I always think it's better for the customer to know what's up and feel taken care of rather than abandoned. We'll be back another time however.! read more

We lovedddd this place! I can't believe it does r have more stars! The waitress we had was super sweet. And I loved that they accommodated my gluten sensitivity. The gluten free bread was so good! And my husband said the regular bread was also beyond amazing! I don't usually like tasting menus but this one was amazing. The amuse- bouche was a fun, bite-sized truffle flavor. We loved our appetizers. And we each chose entrees that suited us. I got scallops with really rich Parmesan risotto and Mr husband got a crabcake. He's a harsh judge of them since we eat them alllll of the time! And he said it was amazing! I hardly ever eat dessert solo, after a big meal, but I couldn't stop eating the flourless chocolate dessert. And my husband loved the strawberry shortcake. All in all, it was a 12/10! Not gonna lie, I booked a reservation here since I wanted to see the hotel featured in the movie, "Wedding Crashers." I had zero expectations of what Stars would be like, but it was phenomenal. The dining room is spectacular with giant windows throughout the dining room, overlooking the bay. They had a lot of flies, which was kind of frustrating. But even with all the flies, we loved our time here. The food was delicious. I ordered the caesar salad with fresh crab. It was so light and fresh. We also got the crab dip appetizer, which was a big hit. We had our twins, who are 4 years old, and it was a wonderful spot for them. Before our food arrived, I took them outside to see the boats and ducks. There was plenty to entertain them. They both got the mac and cheese from the kids menu with "sautéed carrots." We went to STARS for breakfast when we were staying at the inn. The first day we ordered the crab omelette and the mushroom omelette. My mushroom omelette was a little lite on the mushrooms. The crab one was very good. On day two we got the crab Benedict and the avocado toast both were great. I also enjoyed the carrot juice one day and the green juice another. This is where Shary and I went for our 26th anniversary. Our thing- fancy dining to celebrate. If you've read my reviews, you know what gets five stars. A Tex/Mex place has to have strong margaritas, An old bar has to have a ghost story. A dive bar has to have drama. And a fancy place has to be artful. Stars is artful. From the pairing of the gamey flavor of duck with some vinegar and huckleberry to the deceptively fun and light hearted cocktails, everything here was clever. But it's also very nice. The woman who took our reservation was so thoughtful. The staff knew about my wife's allergies and had it sorted in advance. I mean, even the valet went above and beyond. Tom, our waiter, was en pointe all night. The view- incredible. Especially with a big storm rolling in. The food- creative and thoughtful, technical and inventive. The cocktails- just fabulous. I had not expected to like Stars restaurant as much as I did. We had 2 fantastic meals 2 nights in a row. I mean stellar. And both of the prior restaurants were great all around. So, I expected that the good food just could NOT continue on such a great roll. But I was wrong. Stars delivered every piece of food perfectly! The dinner menu is a prix fixe meal. Three courses and an amuse bouche plus dessert (and an amuse bouche for dessert too). It was difficult to make the choices because each option sounded too good to be true. The waiter was very patient and answered all our questions completely and patiently. He is a credit to the establishment. I finally settled on the duck confit inside a noodle. That does nothing to convey how beautiful the dish was. The duck was buttery and succulent, with just enough of the duckfat to easily identify the meat. The noodle was the background against which the duck flavor contrasted. And the broth, slightly vinegary, was a GREAT foil to the richness of the rest of this dish. My main dish was Chincoteague Rockfish. It was a beautiful big piece of fish. The skin was crisp perfection. The hoppin john underneath was an inspired addition. This chef moved the dishes to places I could not have imagined! Prior to the meal, my opinion of this resort restaurant (located in the Inn at Perry Cabin) was not high. But I was wrong! Came here for dinner during a St. Michael's weekend for dinner. Overall a nice experience--we sat near the roaring fire, enjoyed the prix fixe menu and a bottle of wine. We sat so distant from other diners that I felt pretty safe eating indoors. We had the famous oyster stew--which was a delicious lemongrass scented concoction, even if we couldn't perceive where there was oyster in it. The other food was very good too. And the ambience was great. My quibble? For a place this pricey and at such an exclusive resort, I was surprised at their limited wine list and that they didn't do wine pairings with the meal. In relation to the cost, a very poor choice. A tired and dated interior to start. Very sloppy and inattentive service, complete with spilling the wine with every pour. Tasteless amouse bouche. Beet salad with two beet bits. Scallops that were good and tender, but sitting on risotto that was pure mush. The deserts were the highlight. All that for $125 prix fixe. We ate breakfast here last week - as this is pretty much the only restaurant open @ 8 am on the main road. We had the banana pancakes and the breakfast tacos (which I think was chorizo). We loved both of our dishes. The pancakes were so light and fluffy that you really didn't need a syrup - especially with the berry compote. The breakfast tacos were also very tasty - according to my husband. Our server was also very nice and friendly and quick to serve us. Did I want to pay $37 for breakfast? No, but there aren't many other options in the near vicinity. At least I can say the breakfast was very good and in a beautiful setting. read more

Service--slow and disorganized. Our server took 15 minutes to come over to take our order for food, forgot to refill wine with the bottle we ordered, forgot about our request for bread (eventually stale dinner rolls were served after our food came). Menu/food-- the lunch menu is far smaller and less interesting than it used to be. Gone are the veggie tacos and $20 crab cake sandwich. Instead are a $36 crab cake entree and a cauliflower steak (for lunch in the summer)? My wife, who is vegetarian, ordered the watermelon "salad" and it was just chunks of watermelon and some cheese without any greens. For $16 she was expecting a whole lot more. The burger was fine, maybe a B-. It was served on a stale brioche bun. Fries were good. Very disappointing! Not coming back until the management or menu change. read more

We had the opportunity to experience afternoon high tea at Stars during our stay at the Inn at Perry Cabin. Overall I highly recommend this establishment for tea, regardless of if you are staying or not. The small scones and sandwiches were traditional and inventive concurrently. We also had one of the most delicious mini crab cakes with "come back sauce". It was full lump and so delectable that we ordered more. One of the more pleasant things was that we were seated facing an open bay window with a full water view of the boats and guests. A wonderful scene to enjoy while enjoying afternoon tea. The hubsters and I came here for a Valentine's Day brunch - as stated previously, the restaurant is now known as Stars (as it used to be Sherwood's Landing). The restaurant offers continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, as well as Afternoon Tea, Jazz Nights, and Gourmet Packages to add on to your stay. I highly recommend in making reservations, as this place gets filled quickly - the hubs made a reservation and requested the best seat in the house - and, boy, did I feel so lucky to be seated next to the largest window, right in the middle, with a lovely view of the water!!! We were seated promptly by the hostess, Jessica, who welcomed us warmly and was such a sweetheart! :D The hubsters and I had the following: BLT with Farm Fresh Eggs (smoked bacon with a large slice of roasted tomato, artisan greens, over easy eggs with a balsamic vinaigrette, all set on top of a toasted brioche; I loved how the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the huge slice of the roasted tomato was quite nice as it was very juicy and fresh); Green Eggs and Ham (two poached eggs, spinach, and Canadian bacon, set on top of cheddar herb rolls with a hollondaise sauce, with a side of country hash - this was our favorite, as the poached eggs, again, were perfectly prepared; the sauteed spinach was a nice touch, and the country hash was crispy and seasoned well); Brioche French Toast (battered brioche slices with roasted bananas smear, topped with vanilla butter and a cup of Vermont maple syrup - I think the brioche could be cooked a little longer with more of the batter; I did like the roasted bananas, and I really appreciated the fact that this dish was not too sweet); a side of pork sausages (comes as 2; these sausages were yummy and not at all salty); Greensboro Scrapple (definitely different; it had a lovely crusty exterior, but it was one of our least favorites); white toast (yes, the bread/English muffins are at an additional charge, but highly recommend, as you can try their fresh, house-made spreads (strawberry, blackberry, honey, and orange marmalade - all were just so delicious, and we were both fans of the strawberry with its huge chunks of the berries!); the Cinnamon Bun (this was slightly dry); the House-Made Muffin (comes with 2; the flavors change daily, and we had the Cinnamon Streudel - these were also, okay, but forgettable); fresh cranberry juice (served warm, though, which I would have preferred it to be nice and cold!), and a Fresh Fruit Smoothie (made with coconut water, this was a combination of all the berries; very thick and fresh, but slightly forgettable). I really liked the fact that the dishes all tasted so fresh and clean. Our server, Brittany, was very kind and friendly, as well as the rest of the waitstaff. Stopped by "Stars" restaurant last week. We had different items which were all fantastic they did not have the one in stock that we like so they comped us another bottle the manager Miguel was delightful and very very helpful and made the meal and 11!!!! Our server Brittany, was excellent and very attentive. close by and had not tried Stars! We arrived to the hotel but were confused since we had assumed there was would be a Valet.... None present. We could not figure out where the entrance to the hotel was... confused again! CThank God there was a sign directing us. Upon entering we could not find the restaurant but were directed to it....confused again! it was Father's Day so it was about a third busy and we had a lovely table by the window overlooking the water. The waitress was slow but pleasant, I had the cream of crab soup ,which was OK.... Needed the magnifying glass to find the crab. Then had the Scottish salmon which I was asked how I would like it and I said medium. It came out a little overcooked .... fairly small portion but did have a nice cou-couis. All in all it's a very pleasant restaurant, but do not get your hopes up too much!!! read more

True definition of over charge just because the movie Wedding Crashers was filmed there. The service was unimpressive, the lunch price for what you get is insane, I wouldn't feed a dog the food we were presented, the cocktail was gross and I sent it back, the table they sat us at was too small and the chairs were uncomfortable. The dining area décor was meh and staff looked like they didn't want to be there. Rubber duck should be in a tub not in an over priced sandwich. I requested the manager and my complaints felt "blown off". Not really giving an apology. Wasn't looking for a free ride, but would have been nice to discount some of the food since 75% went back on the plates. $116.00 lunch for 2 people and we left annoyed and hungry. Will never be returning to this restaurant again! Oh did I mention in order to dine there for dinner, you need to pay the $1,200 per night hotel stay. On August 26, 2023, my husband and I celebrated our 28 years of marriage by sailing on the "Day on the Bay Cruise" from Annapolis, MD to St. Michaels, MD. Once we arrived to St. Michaels, we visited the Miles River Marine, 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse, and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. We reviewed the St. Michaels map for dining and agreed to check out the Stars Restaurant. We walked 25-30 minutes to arrive to the location and once we arrived on the Inn at Perry Cabin property, we walked down the very long driveway to the entrance of the Inn. We asked Valet, where to find the Stars Restaurant and was given directions of the location within the Inn. The hostess took us to our seats and the waitress introduced herself and handed us the menus. I ordered a Sprite Soda, Deviled Eggs from the Small Plates to Share, and Arugula Salad with Smoked Salmon and Goat Cheese on the side. When the Deviled Eggs arrived, my husband and I ate off the plate given to us with the eggs and were not given appetizer plates. Later as my husband I were dining, a white couple was seated two tables away and they ordered Deviled Eggs as well and were given two appetizer plates. I mentioned it to my husband and we agreed not to involve the manager due to the time constraint to arrive back at the St. Michaels dock and agreed to write a review instead. Also, I wasn't told the Smoked Salmon would be served raw and not cooked, in which I was taken aback when it arrived to the table. My husband and I are Black and our waitress was a Black female. Came here with my extended family and we had a great time. Wayne was very attentive and his service definitely met the price tag. Everything was delicious. We tried the pork chop, mushroom ravioli, eggplant vegetarian entree, sea bass, crab soup, and spring salad. Everything tasted very fresh and I love the farm-to-table element. The eggplant was the standout--prepared like a piece of meat (even featuring diamond grill marks!) and sitting on a bed of veggies, it was delicious and not soggy. Obviously, it was NOT cheap, but we knew what to expect when we made the reservation and I would say they met our expectations. Staff was very attentive (again, shoutout to Wayne). We also enjoyed roaming around the property after dinner and would recommend if you have the budget and are in the area. Stayed at the Inn at Perry Cabin last week for a golf outing. We had three meals there - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. WOW, all three were excellent. The service was fantastic! Even with COVID, we felt comfortable and well distanced from other diners. At breakfast, we had delicious omelets that were served with homemade multigrain and sourdough bread selections. OJ was freshly squeezed. Lunch was a great lamb burger. Another day we settled on burger and fries at the Pub which was also delicious. Kudos to the bartender for helping us choose two great wine selections. We will be back again. Love the Links at Perry Cabin and the hotel rooms are top notch as well. read more

Stars is a beautiful spot right on the water. I went with my mom to celebrate her birthday. We both ordered pesto pasta (blanking on the official name), and really enjoyed it. I ordered a strawberry vodka drink, and my mom was able to order her favorite French red wine. For dessert we split a slice of strawberry Smith Island cake, which came with strawberry ice cream. Everything was delicious and the view really makes up for the price--definitely worth it. Our server's name was Brian (I think?) and he was very chatty, attentive, and friendly. read more

Wide range of choice on the menu including gluten free options. All dishes were delicious with generous portions. I had the tasting menu with wine selection for dinner which was great value for the quantity and quality of food. The steak was incredible - cooked to perfection and very tender. The burger for lunch was just ok though. The service from everyone was warm welcoming and friendly, with good knowledge of the wine menu. I'm not sure if I enjoyed the fried green tomato crab appetizer, the soft shell crabs over cheddar grits, the amazing view or the engaging and delightful service. While the Inn at Perry Cabin Hotel/Resort is 5 star, the Stars was rather dull and uninspired during our stay at IPC. The best service we had in Stars was Tea one afternoon thanks to Terry, our waiter and at lunch the day we arrived thanks to Barbie our waitress who made THE best Bloody Mary. Thanks Terry and Barbie! Now for the bad and uninspired part. We had breakfast brought to our rooms from Stars on 2 mornings using the order card in our rooms. The first day was fine but the second day was a disaster. The orders were late, wrong and both the waiter and the kitchen manager were terrible and argumentative; telling us that they were "very busy" and mistakes happen. Not at a 5 star resort and not at the prices - sorry, but that is unacceptable. On the third morning, we walked down to have breakfast and were escorted to the "best corner table", where we shared our breakfast with several large, annoying flies buzzing about throughout our breakfast which were completely ignored by staff. The ONLY reason I am giving Stars 3 stars is due to Chance, Terry and Barbie. read more
