They made a fantastic looking chicken pot pie, Ribbon Potatoes, Deep fried Cheese Cake, and apparently Im 4 years too late because back in 2018 they DID make ribs. Place seemed fun enough to try out either way. Tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich and ... I gotta say it's probably the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. I don't usually get them but this is perfect. Its super moist but the juices don't fall out when you bite. It's perfectly seasoned and smoked so that the spices, smoke flavor, and natural pork flavor all work together equally. Even the bun was buttered and toasted and super soft and yum! Now ... the sandwich didn't need it but I'm a little embarrassed over the amount of sauce they put on it and the fact that it's just some store brand sauce. Also the menu says slaw "On the side" which kind of implies that its a small amount of slaw that is supposed to be on the sandwich. But then I read closer and it said it's an additional 75 cents for the slaw ... but it seemed to me like it was supposed to be part of the sandwich ... So I said I'll take it and then they tell me they are out of slaw ... this was at opening hour of their opening day of this year and they didn't even have their slaw? Grabbed some chili cheese fries, seemed like it might be special here. Gotta say it was really good. Their very own spicy beef chili, Home cut potatoes, that melted gooey Velveeta junk cheese that works too perfectly with stuff like this. Fun. Strawberry shake wasn't real, just the white soft cold cream stuff mixed with some syrup flavoring. I got some mac and cheese but it was weird. Mac and cheese wasn't on the menu but it was a topping on a Mac and Cheese Burger. So I asked them if they could just give me the mac and cheese. They accommodated and it was much more than I was hoping for, I just wanted like a ladle scoop. Cheese was super flavorful and real cheese too. It wasn't "gooey" to me, more "mushy" I would describe, good seasoning with black pepper and such. Place looks like they are more setup to be a burger joint. Tons of burgers, hot dogs, fries, shakes. Little weird menu though. They have "Value" meals and each one of them is priced as whatever sandwich, burger, dog plus some fries and with or without a drink but it's all the same price no matter if you get a drink or not ... The building itself is very inviting. It had been renovated and had a relaxed and warm lodge feel. The manager offered us a $20 gift card and said he hoped we would give them another chance. It's that a friend treated me here because I did all the driving in and around the Green Mountains of Vermont to look at the scenery. Starry Night Cafe' is about fine dining. It's also about "new" cuisine, so that means creative culinary takes on what could be ordinary dishes. Sometimes I'll buy into the concept of "new" and sometimes I won't. Either way, the food here is not meant to be just like it is at all those other restaurants! The two chosen starters were a Caesar-like salad and a cheese plate. I liked my salad, but felt the cheese plate didn't have much to it, although the cheese was of high quality and good. The entrees selected were the mafaldine pasta and the salmon. My friend thought the salmon was good, and I thought my pasta was very good. Portions were about right for fine dining and, thankfully, not abysmally small. The mafaldine's presentation looked green as if it the sauce might be pesto, but it is not. It's a spinach pasta. Also, note that these are pronounced "mah-fahl-deen-eh" and not "mah-fahl-deen." A dessert was ordered and it featured berries and cream. I tried a little bit of it and it was delicious. The bread that arrived at the beginning of the meal was excellent. The serving staff seemed excited about the vaudouvan butter. This name doesn't mean anything to me. Should it? The menu mentioned that the butter was flavored with curry. I hesitated and was told that it was a French curry. I wondered how that might be different. Still, no matter how much or how little you use of it, the aftertaste lingers for too long. I did not like this nifty butter. Starry Night Cafe' looks inconspicuous from the parking lot. Once inside, there are several nice rooms in which to eat and you initially see a tastefully appointed bar. Each of the dining spaces has a slightly different personality. There are even outdoor spaces flanked by a large pond that would have worked well if it wasn't as humid as it was that day. Even the restrooms are decked out, right down to what might be oil paintings by local artists ... and the restrooms even smell good! The name of the restaurant does indeed refer to the work of Vincent Van Gogh. The service is excellent. They both explain the dishes you inquire about and answer other questions you might have. Being my usual self, I was observing and making assessments of the situation, such as the service and its style. It was funny in that it tried to be informal and even a little folksy, given that it's Vermont, when it is in fact fine dining. In reality, the real vibe was that the interaction was more formal than in many nicer restaurants, whether rural or urban. With that said, Starry Night is an expensive restaurant. I asked my friend about all the 5 star ratings. My friend said that, for Vermont, it is probably a 5 star event, but if it was in New York City and its environs, it would most likely fetch 4 stars. I'll go with that logic. The entree and the dessert were very tasty, but I did not like there being a polarizing spice in the butter, nor the small portion of the (other person's) cheese plate. I did appreciate the curated atmosphere and the professional service. Starry Night Cafe' made for a very interesting experience. I chose things from the menu that worked for me. I'm glad that I was taken here to eat, and I'm (humorously) stressing the words "taken here."

The food was excellent. 3 of us chose steak and eggs. The steak was easily the start of the meal. So delicious I wished I ordered it. The home fries were also amazing. I had the Starry breakfast. Basically it was bacon and eggs. Over medium eggs were perfect. Bacon was good not great. My son ordered French toast and it was super sweet but delicious. The orange cream on it was especially good. Definitely recommend brunch here.
