We have been living downtown for over a year now and I had no idea this place was there! Tucked below grade by Hannaford's on Shelburn Rd, you wouldn't know it was there. But glad I found out! I'm a Gen X guy that grew up in the bars of Milwaukee and this place felt like home. Pool table. Low lighting. Pabst on tap. Friendly staff. And the chicken tenders we had as a snack were awesome. Super crispy. Like Southern Style. The app for the juke box is a cool feature and we had a great time picking bar favorites. If you're looking for elevated gastronomy and mixology, there are plenty of other spots in Burlington. But if you're looking for like your beer cold and solid pub grub, you will like it here. read more

I have gone to this bar since it was Franny O's and never came to expect amazing things from the food, but it is SPOT ON.. Id say, Best wings in town currently....dry rub is amazing, same w Buffalo and they are done perfectly. The Philly is also excellent, could use a little more meat in there but excellent. Stopped in to have some lunch on our way through South Burlington. Sat at the bar with a bunch of locals. Excellent service from Kyle who ran the whole place effortlessly. Very good draft list. Had an excellent burger & fries. The Old Post has a lot of character and I can imagine it being very lively later in the day with various activities. Conveniently located off RT.7 with plenty of parking. I am so glad we stopped for lunch. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation. read more

My husband and I are on vacation from MA. We had dinner at The Old Post. Kyle, the bartender could not have nicer, and more welcoming. We sat at the corner of the bar, and had drinks and food. The ambience is wonderful, but what was so wonderful to see was the many regulars who came in, and how warmly they were greeted. We had salad and wings and a cheeseburger. All were delicious, but the wings were amazing! Crispy and tender and juicy. If we lived here in Burlington or Shelburne this would be our go to spot, our regular hang out. Also, the horse sculpture behind the bar was so beautiful, I had to take a picture! Thank you, Kyle, for making a couple of people on vacation feel like they were right at home! read more

May not be everyone's cup of tea, certainly not a family restaurant due to the atmosphere. But a ton of fun with their pool table! And the people working here are a delight. I recommend the poutine and jalapeño poppers. read more

So, I should have posted this addendum sooner. I don't log in here often, so it's been a couple years. But I found the gem below, seemingly from the owner, Kim, as a 'compliment' to my comment in the past. It was from 'Kim R' who is exactly who I was talking about in my original post. It's a pretty ridiculous 'red herring' argument to state how much in ticket sales were donated. By law they MUST be donated. That wasn't my point at all. It was that she was partaking in a personal gain at that moment. I still remember the situation. It's still bad form. This is not someone you should be giving business to. My facts were 100% as happened. Here's what I received (screenshot attached): First of all there is only one owner in this establishment. She has raised OVER $150,000 through ticket sales towards The Mike Loyer Foundation. Please do not write a review on something that you do not have the correct facts! I have no idea how this place had 4.5 stars. The burger was average at best, especially for $15.00 and with exception of bringing me the meal, there was no table service. Add to that, that the bartender seemed to ignore my presence and you get the picture! For the money I've had many gourmet burgers in many other places. read more

Good place to stop at for lunch/dinner or drinks and a good drink. The patio is tucked away in the back and quite nice, lots of space between tables. Food consists of bar fair and is good overall. Had a great lunch here today! Very appropriate COVID precautions in place. We ordered 2 appetizers - the dry rub wings were delicious and served with homemade ranch (and they were very accommodating and brought us a homemade bleu cheese too!) So I decided to give this place a second chance. I'm really glad I did. Service was really quick this time. My wife and I ordered two different burgers and split them to try each. Band good, but if you want to spend money on drinks and have them removed from your table when you dance this is the place to go. Then when you Bring it to their attention of the bartender they tell you to leave the bar or they will call the police. Guilty We had 1/2,of a twisted tea left, a full glass of ginger ale and a shot glass of fireball with one sip taken out. Got back to table after dancing and it was gone. The young bartender wouldn't even listen to us. I know what was in the glasses we had just got them before going on dance floor. The bartender knew we caught them doing wrong and he became very defensive. We use to go there a lot. No more, not with those kind of employees. Word of mouth is the worst kind of advertisement. We will let people know if you want to keep your drink take it on the dance floor with you. Or go to a more respectable bar. There are plenty of good bars with good bands. read more
