For me, I couldn't put the book down and the read provided me a valuable history lesson and changed my approach to buying and using the "Sacred Fruit". The author and owner of Venice Oil company is an internationally published food author. All olive oil is not created equally, fancy packaging, high priced grocery store oils may not pass a test as genuine, thus wasting your hard earned money and missing the benefits of pure oil. The Venice Oil company is located on the Island, staff members are informed, helpful as well as pleasant as you peruse a myriad of oils and store items. Next time it becomes time to purchase Olive Oil, go past go and go to the island. Along with your oil purchase buy the book it enriches your understanding of a food product that is really more than a food product. She decided to take a little bite in their roomy parking lot!!!! AND the result was we did not make it over KMI/Hatchett Creek Bridge heading to Nokomis Beach..... I got the "stump"/end of the bread with a little bit of chicken / cheese etc. So will have to go by her assessment. 9/10 I got the Lukie - portabella, asparagus, zucchini, roasted red pepper cheese (provolone and they let me try a piece before they made the sandwich!!! WOW that is no Dietz & Watson or Publix brand cheese - right out of the Italian market in NY or Philly!!) They put balsamic and oil on and the veggies were sauté etc. And there in was the only issue. Flavor and ALL ingredients were great....... but the sourdough bread was a soggy sponge by the time I cracked it open on the beach about 30 minutes later. The vinegar, the liquids from the sauté, the oils and etc. I WILL be going back for this exact thing next time, BUT will get it "dry" or dressing on the side. I picked it apart and threw well over 1/2 the roll in the trash. 5/10 Really good first visit for me and EASY PEASY fix so check back on my update......
