I stopped drinking in January 2025 for medical reasons. Since then it has been amazing and at times disheartening to me to realize how embedded alcohol is in social life, and how easy it is to not feel a part of the moment when you are no longer drinking. The Open Road is here in the up-and-coming Garfield neighborhood to help supply sober and sober curious people, and really anyone interested in cutting back on alcohol or supporting someone who is, with delicious beverages that help you feel like you're not missing out on a thing. There are nonalcoholic beers, spirit-free versions of things like gin, bourbon, bitters and truly anything else you might need to make yourself alcohol free drinks at home. There are also pre-canned and bottled options where you don't have to do any of the work, nonalcoholic wine and bubbly, functional beverages with added benefits, the amount of choice is nearly overwhelming in the best possible way. It's a clean, open vibe in the shop and the staff is kind and helpful. I have bought from them a number of times throughout the year at various pop-ups but this was my first visit to the shop and of course won't be my last. They are regulars at Pittsburgh festivals and other events and I'm deeply appreciative for their presence in the community! read more

Awesome selection of NA beer, wine, spirits, fun wellness drinks, drinks for the 4/20 friendly, bevs for the health conscious non drinkers, etc! Truly something for everyone! I'm not sober but this store is for everyone! I started shopping here a couple of years ago during Dry January. I now do Dry July or dry-ish July too They have so many options! Great for cutting down your drinking or completely abstaining. Also really great to pick things up here if you're having a party, get together, company over, and so on. I personally have a couple of pregnant friends who cannot drink but like Non alcoholic wine. This is just such an amazing concept as a store and it's awesome seeing places like this start to pop up. More people are cutting back or going sober and you never know someone's reason for not drinking! read more

This nonalcoholic liquor, beer, and wine store is amazing! The folks working there are so friendly and helpful. They let us try a few different liquors and talked us through how they'd substitute zero-proof liquor in cocktails. There's also a huge selection of wine and beer that looked fantastic. Just a heads up, zero-proof liquor isn't cheap, so don't be sticker shocked that a bottle of tequila is $30. This isn't a reflection of the store, but the prices of things in general. I will say that The Open Road could work on their website a bit more and make it easier to find out what they keep in stock and what the prices of things are as I found it a little hard to navigate. Overall, amazing store and I'd highly recommend this to anyone interested. It was such a wonderful experience! read more

I'm super excited about finding The Open Road in the Allentown neighborhood of Pittsburgh. This brightly colored optimistic building contains a very cute 100% zero alcohol bottle shop. I didn't know this was a thing until my husband mentioned it to me. I bought a bottle of non-gin, non- sparkling wine for valentine"s day and a non-red. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and a great guide to help with my choices....which there are a ton of options. There are a few places around the city that carry non-alcoholic beverages but the selection is often limited. The Open Road is awesome because not only do they carry a large selection of n/a beers, they also carry n/a spirits (whiskey, bourbon, etc.), wine, canned mocktails, n/a mixers, cocktail recipe books and so much more. It's a modern, minimal, yet welcoming store that's extremely clean. The shelves are neatly lined with any and all n/a product that you can think of. Awesome non-alcoholic bottle shop! We learned about The Open Road when stopping into Tonic Coffee. The Open Road is just up the stairs from Tonic Coffee, so while the barista made our drinks, we browsed The Open Road's selection. The store really feels like one-of-a-kind, bringing together lots of different non-alcoholic beverages that we haven't seen at regular bottle shops. The owner was super helpful in making recommendations based on our typical beer preferences. They have a surprisingly large variety of non-alcoholic beers, cocktails, seltzers, and wine-adjacent drinks. We ended up building our own 6-pack to try a number of different drinks. As someone who likes drinking craft beer, but isn't really into the effects of alcohol, it's definitely a place I will return to! read more

Thank you so much for existing! I'm sober 2.5 years and recently was feeling bummed about the lack of options when out socially. I was at a bachelorette party recently and the mocktails I got were so terrible - overly sweet - and it made me so sad I didn't have any better options. So I've been looking at non alcoholic wines and such to scratch that itch to have something fun. I read about Proxies and wanted to try - as well as some other brands. It was awesome to be able to visit a physical store to check out all the options in one place. I am sipping on Surely wine right now! I hope you guys can be a source for local restaurants, if you're not already, because having non alcoholic options at restaurants would be great. I've been to one restaurant (in northern VA) that had a non alcoholic wine option that was unique and tasty (could have been Proxies or something like it). I recently decided to take a break from beer/alcohol. While I enjoy the taste, I don't really love the effects. I had heard of the Open Road because I live nearby. Upon browsing their site, I was slightly overwhelmed by the selection! As someone that is more of a beer drinker & less familiar with alcohol free spirits/canned cocktails, I felt it was better for an in person visit. Mel, the owner, is highly knowledgeable about every product. She took the time to go through basically every NA beer and NA canned cocktail on shelf! This was tremendously helpful for making decisions on what to buy, even allowing me to sample a spirit (The Pathfinder- just buy it, it's so unique & delicious). I'm very much looking forward to trying some of the beers I purchased today and likely will be back once she opens her permanent space! Cheers! read more

They have a wonderful selection. They sell single cans of beers and premixed cocktails and have open bottles of many of the spirits and bitters. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I'm so happy I found out about this place in time for the holidays. read more

Really great selection of NA beers and spirits organized by style so it is easy to find things you're likely to enjoy. I did not know NA spirits were a thing. They have a bottle of most spirits open to sample. I think I was talking to the owner who was very nice and knowledgeable. read more
