I went to another place before I found this one but the screen quality was so bad that I had them put my old cracked one back on and I am so glad I found The Orchard!! Took my Mac mini to add memory. These guys are the best! For $35.00 they did the job and then some. Other places i called wanted $85.00 and up. Had a little problem getting everything updated and such. Called them and he walked me thru it step by step over the phone. I know i can count on these great guys from now on. I have an iMac 24" from 2009 that needed a new power supply to motherboard cable. I called and explained that I already have the machine disassembled and only needed to buy the part. They said they would have the part but would not sell it to me unless I paid them to put it in. That added an extra 70-90$ for a part that goes online new for about $14. I again explained that I am a computer tech and only needed the part and was refused by him saying "Its not in our best interest to sell you a part without making money on the labor.". I replied that a good company makes a profit while also looking out for what's best for the customer. I was floored that they held such a small part hostage just to make more profit when I didn't need any of their "professional" help. Will NEVER do business with them ever again! read more

I have to give props to the Orchard in Chandler. My laptop was dropped, screen side down, onto my tile floor causing the entire display glass to shatter. I took the computer to Apple at the Mall and was advised the only repair they could do was to replace the entire upper display unit including the metal case to the tune of $450. The rep at Apple suggested I look around for another place that would be able to replace the glass only. They wrote down a few places they recommended including the Orchard. I hadn't given much thought to the Orchard initially and decided to try to replace the glass myself. Many curse words/broken glass/hair dryer/tweezers later I came to my senses and took the computer to a professional. I did a quick search online and found this location right around the corner. The tech at this location greeted me promptly and advised he would be with me in a few moments as he was swapping out a hard drive out. Meanwhile I checked out the computers they had for sale and waited a total of 5 minutes. I brought the computer up when it was my turn and was happy to hear the LCD was not damaged by my attempted repair. The tech reassured me they would still be able to replace the glass and had seen much worse. Only downside was that they had to send it to their Mesa store for the repair. Total cost just under $100 since I already had the glass screen. Much easier to stomach than the first figure. I also dropped the computer off on Sunday afternoon and it was back on Tuesday. I checked through my files and made sure everything and the new screen worked/looked just like the old one. I was very happy with their level of professionalism and speedy repair. read more

They could have been better. I brought my laptop to them and said there was water damage. I told them to tell me how much it would cost to fix it and then I could make a decision from there on whether or not to buy a whole new laptop or fix it. They call me back and say it is the motherboard and it will cost $800 so I decided to have them fix it (since a new one is $1,100). A few weeks later I notice the camera isn't working so I bring it back and they said i need a whole new camera for $165. I wish they told me it was broken before because I would have just brought a whole new laptop (and probably from them) instead of fixing that one. To top it off when I picked up my laptop the Wifi wasn't working so they had to hold it even longer. I don't think I would ever go back. I also found out that taking my laptop to the apple store would have saved me $100. read more

I read a complimentary story about this place in AZ Rep so I figured I would check it out for a refurb. laptop for my father (go local right?) So on a Monday and my day off from work I drove from central Phx to Mesa store only to find door locked at 2:15 pm. I checked the other door which was open and asked the man who was standing there if they were open. All he said was "ya". So I more or less asked if I could come in and he kind of shrugged - he really looked like he did not want me there. So I asked again "are you sure you are open, cause you don't look like it." He kind of sneered at me and said "look it's been a bad day" and he still did not invite me in. So I just said I would come back. He did not say anything and just walked away. Whoa! I get it that people have bad days - I have a few myself but really? I have worked in customer service my whole life, not as an owner but I am sure if I acted this way to my clients, I would be in some serious trouble or fired. A little over a year ago I had to replace my MacBook Pro due to spilled coffee that caused irreparable damage. The staff at the Orchard was very helpful in setting up a trade that wouldn't break the bank but would replace my computer with a similar model. Yesterday, I again went to Orchard to ask for assistance with reconnecting a loose cable on my optical drive - it had been shaken loose during a long drive. I knew it was a minor task but was hesitant to open the unit myself. Andrew found the problem and fixed it very quickly for me. Both times I have been back up and running in short order. Ruined my iPhone. First they damaged a cable for the touch screen. When they replaced that (after extra delay due to ordering the wrong part) they damaged the phone ear piece and put the wrong SIM card in. You could only make calls using speaker phone. Their response to my BBB complaint says I'm lying about the SIM card and claims they are not responsible for the damage to the speaker. I'm out $450 for this phone thanks to their incompetence. Go to Apple directly or your cell phone carrier - make sure they are Apple authorized before letting anyone work on your Apple product. read more

With new owner and Manager this place sucks. I took my iPhone 6 Plus to have them diagnose what the issue was. After not listening and changing the screen. Charging me for it when all I wanted was diagnostic. But paid anyway thinking they knew what they were doing. I went back phone not working. Manager tried to lay his way out. I tried something that they said would fix it but no. I took it back again. I want my screen and my money back. Stupid manager tried to give me a shattered screen when mine was not cracked or nothing. Finally I got someone's screen and my money back. Well I thought it ended there. But I got it home and did some research to find the same stupid manager changed the passcode and locked my phone that it can not be reset or used. So now I think we are looking into a lawyer. read more

We had a great experience years ago but now it's not even close to the same. New owners and they are riding on the name for now. Very Very bad experience! Took my iphone 6 plus in to see if they could diagnose the problem. The screen was not responding. Mind you my phone was in perfect cosmetic condition! They went ahead without permission and put a new screen on and said it was fixed. However it was not working and they told me to restore the phone and it would work. It didn't. Several trips to the store later they called and said they couldn't fix it and I would have to wait so they could find my original screen. OEM Screen. Several days later I went to pick up my phone and much to my surprise I was handed a phone that looked like it had been run over!! The screen was Nasty broken and there wasn't a spot not broken. I said no I was not taking my phone that way, while the young man began to tell me that was all he could do and that I brought in a broken phone in the first place. NO NO NO!!! After I refused the phone and demanded MY screen back he proceeded to tell me he doesn't have it and will have to charge me to put a new screen on!! What! Well after we called in the police to make a report he offered to put my screen on and give me a refund. I have my phone and it's yet to be seen if I did get my original screen back. I bought a macbook on craigslist within the 1st week it was giving me problems. I heard about the orchard through a friend, so I decided to see what was going on with my laptop. I ended up having a bad hard drive, they were able to save and transfer all of my data to a new solid state drive. I'm so glad I went with the solid state drive my computer runs faster than any computer i have ever used. While at their store i picked up a 17 imac, it was a great deal and they seem to have a great warranty. Stay away from craigslist buy and service your macs at The Orchard. read more

My macbook pro encountered some water damage which caused the keyboard to stop functioning. The geniuses at apple quoted me $1200 for the repairs, the price of a new laptop... Luckily, I went online and found The Orchard. The team at The Orchard was friendly and courteous. They warned me of any problems they may encounter with this type of repair and quoted me for a mere fraction of apple's cost. I left my laptop in confidence. They periodically updated me with the repair status and an estimated time of completion. The repair was done within the time frame they promised. When I picked up my laptop, much to my surprise, the first thing I noticed was Jared (Cannon) even took care of repairing all the huge dents my macbook had from taking a fall the first month I owned it, at no extra charge. He went above and beyond and certainly made my day. I felt like I walked out with a brand new laptop. I brought my macbook pro into these guys because it had become very unresponsive. I really had to have it fixed ASAP, so I figured I would drop it off with experts instead of wasting time trying to fix it myself. Big mistake. When I dropped it off, they said there was probably some issue with the hard drive. They charge $30 for a diagnosis which can go toward any repairs. They took two days to look at it, then called me and said there were a couple issues. They said there were a couple minor issues with the hard drive, which they said the fixed and then they said the other issue was that the plastic pieces which hold the second memory stick down were broken, that what was creating the problem. Well, I had a piece of material keeping the memory stick down, using the pressure of the back panel.... but they said that it was unresponsive because the memory would still move around some and recommended that I just find something else to keep the memory down better. They said they had fixed most of the unresponsiveness by fixing whatever issues they found with the hard drive though. I said, okay. It sounded reasonable. I turned it on when I got home and it was the exact same as when I brought it in. Still just as unresponsive. What the heck? You had it for two days and didn't fix anything, but tell me you fixed most of it? So, I have most of my info backed up, so I just decided to try to delete everything off of the hard drive and re-install everything from my back up drive. (In the shop, I explained to them that my info was backed up and told them it was okay to do this if they needed to). Well, I did that, and it fixed the issue. Guess I should have tried that before wasting the $30 and lost two days bringing it in, but seriously? You don't try that in the two days you have it in the shop? One of the most simple fixes there probably is? I am no computer expert, and I fix what they can't? These guys obviously don't know what they're doing. read more

Please read carefully. This is based on my experience only. I bought a used macbook pro from them about 1.5 years ago for 850 with tax. It is the unibody all silver with silver keys. A year later, the screen would not come on. They said it must be something in the air cuz several people had the same problem. No warranty on parts but service was free. 400 for new motherboard cuz cant just replace chip. At the time, it was not made clear to me this was a used mb and there was only 30 days warranty. I thought my mb had the defective chip installation taken care of. Two weeks ago, the mbp went out again. Once again "there must be something in the air because several other people have had the same problem recently" is what they say, no warranty and 400 bucks again. I looked up this issue and found apple admitted there was a problem with this model several years ago. I asked orchard if they knew about this problem and still chose to sell this model. They said some never had this problem so it was ok for them to sell. So after 1200 bucks I have a dead laptop that I was never warned about. If I replace the mb it could go out again. Since then, I bought a 13" 2011 from craigslist for 600 cash. I would not buy from here again because no warranty on parts and I feel that they would not have a problem selling me another potentially defective product without warning me. So I see no reason to pay more to them than someone on craigslist or ebay since there is no parts warranty after 30 days. I brought my 2007 iMac to The Orchard on Thunderbird Rd to have an SSD drive installed. When I picked it up, the SSD drive was wonderful, but the optical drive was no longer working. I brought it back and was told the optical drive was shot and needed to be replaced, and that it had to be a special order. After phoning several times to follow up, I was told the Thunderbird store was closing and I'd have to deal with the Mesa store as my computer had been moved there. After several calls to the Mesa store, I was finally told the computer was ready to pick up. I picked it up this afternoon and after driving all the way home, discovered the optical drive still is not working. I don't believe the drive was replaced at all. After paying $124 for service and a new optical drive, I expected it to be working flawlessly. Calls to the store in Mesa are answered by an answering machine. I am extremely disappointed at this point and would like some satisfaction for what I paid. This company now seems to be under new management - different from the original owners who had always gotten very positive Yelp reviews. read more
