We've visited at least a dozen courses over the past couple of years, with the top slot regularly changing. Far Oaks is now our go-to, and is a pleasure from the pro shop to the 18th green. The course is challenging, but not overwhelming, carts are in great shape, course itself is super fun, and everyone from the starter to the groundskeepers are friendly and welcoming. It gets busy, but pace of play is solid. Back 9 is a fun ride that lets you get creative with club selection. Some folks might complain about the sand, but who wants to hit out of the traps anyway? Great course, great people, and a great way to spend a few hours. Can't wait for our next visit!

We bought several baskets of balls, and also spent money at the Restaurant/Bar. We were having a grand old time, and all of a sudden, the guy from the pro-shop comes out and yells at my kid on the putting green. He says that he was taking too much of a back swing, and making contact with the green with his putter. This beratement of my son made my son hate the game of golf. He feels that he has been banned from the course. I have no problem with an authority figure instructing us as to the proper way to treat the course, but to yell at my son from 50 yards away was not the proper way to solve the problem. The guy could have simply come over to us instead of making a scene, and making my son feel really bad about himself. I vow not to return to this course.

We went to play a nice game of golf and these college guys we're drunk , hitting the ball back in…read moreforth to each other like playing hockey, they were doing doughnuts around the tee box, then they went down to putting green and one dude went full speed and took a chunk out of a tree and flipped the golf cart over so we went down there to ask them what they were doing and one dude came up with a golf club so we felt threatened so we called the person working there and he came down didn't kick them off or anything he told us that he wrote their stuff down and we didn't see him write anything down and we saw the employee fist bump the guys and didn't do anything. The members were somewhat off-putting. The reception dinner had free wine / and beer outside. You had to pay for wine and cocktails in the hall. Not all that unusual from my experience. However you also had to pay for soda? I had heard that there was a charge for water, not sure on this. The food was ok for buffet food. Beef and overcooked chicken selection, pasta with a watery alfredo sauce. the scalloped potatoes were delicious. You had to request coffee with cake. Service was slowish and very inconsistent. One of our groups kids disappeared and we were looking for her. Again not all that unusual, (lol). This place does have a few more halls than your average reception hall. I ventured over to the "Member's only" section. I was given grief for coming over there until they heard the that a little girl was missing. They did not offer any help however? I did see a family sitting in different sections of the members only group. Adults and kids. They were essentially sneering at each other. I thought this was very odd. We found Libby and all was well. At the end of the reception with no regular supply of free non-alcoholic drinks, surprise there was an argument about the ownership of some golf carts left in front of the building with the keys in them. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. This could have been avoided by the staff by putting the damn things away after dark, or how about taking the keys out of the ignition? I sure hope I am not invited to another wedding at this venue by close friends.

The male bartender was somewhat helpful to my wife but the lady's that worked in the bar were not. I think that when a private club allows outsiders to come in there venue that they should try to be more helpful, We could be your future members if we were treated like we were welcome instead of outsiders that do not belong there, Just food for thought to the membership committee,

It was a nice open design with several very challenging holes. Of course its also near the motor speedway and there was a race going on that day as well which made it difficult for traffic as well as the loud roars while playing. While the course shows the Gateway Arch, its located on the Illinois side of the river. I didn't play my best game, but still had fun and didn't lose too many balls.
