If you want to learn how to grow a particular plant in your yard, this is the place that can show you how without the use of chemicals and pesticides. Volunteers can expect to work 3 hours, with two 15 min breaks. You will need to bring your own drinks and snacks. No alcohol or smoking allowed. You WILL get dirty! Expect to kneel on the ground and get muddy knees, and dirty hands. They will provide gloves and basic tools. Highly recommend you bring a hat, sun screen, and bug repellent. If you drive to the Patch, I would also highly recommend bringing a towel per person for the car. You will get dirty and may not wish to sit in your car with a muddy backside. This is a rewarding experience, very calming, and great for kids (I would say 10+ so long as they are well behaved as running around and general horseplay is not tolerated or appreciated). Dania Beach Patch does sell what it grows to the public. Their tiny market is open Mon-Sat 8a to 10a. Everything is fresh (obviously!). I'm very happy with everything I have purchased.
