First time i discovered the farm was when we went to a pumpkin patch. Great spot to spend the afternoon with the family. They have a petting zoo in the back where you can purchase food and feed the goats, pig, tortoise and even emu. They have a cafe inside where you can order food and have some great smoothies. The spot also offers a lot of organic food, house supplies and beauty products you can buy as well as packaged goods like sauces and pickled food. Marando farms also sell plants and fresh fruits and vegetables. You can definitely leave with a couple bags of goodies here.

We picked up some homemade jam, fresh sourdough, and an absolutely delicious mango salsa made from produce grown right on the farm. They gave us lettuce to feed the animals, which was definitely a highlight: the goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and other animals were so friendly and excited for snacks. A really charming spot for families, especially with little ones.

This family owned farmers market is in it's own small building. It was very interesting to me because this is the first place I found that sells raw milk. It is not something I personally drink but advocates claim that the pasteurization of milk destroys the nutrients, enzymes, and good bacteria. Benefits of raw milk may include more nutrients, improved digestion, and enhanced immune function. Others believe that the benefits are outweighed by health risks associated with consuming raw dairy products. The raw products sold here state they are not for human consumption. In addition to raw milk they also sell raw milk kefir, raw yogurt, raw cheese, raw butter, and raw milk ice cream. Other products they sell include organic produce grown in Southwest Ranches, local honey, hormone free and grass fed meat and seafood, farm fresh eggs, bath and beauty products, bread, and fresh made key lime pies. Staff was on hand to helpfully answer customers questions. I do believe that food is medicine and that it can heal you. This market subscribes to that philosophy. It is a niche for people who don't mind paying more to know where there food comes from, want clean ingredients, or are into a particular lifestyle choice. If you are looking for a large selection or inexpensive prices, this is probably not for you but I enjoyed my visit.

The topic was tomatoes I learned something and it inspired me to purchase a tomato plant (wish me luck). I plan on attending future talks as my schedule permits. The presenter was knowledgeable and patient with all the questions. They have garden plots you can purchase and the is a garden shed that sells gardening items.

This fruit and vegetable "stand" has great prices, nice staff and a really large selection. I was able to skip the grocery store this weekend because I got all the fruits and veggies at Jamie's. I was told that they are open Thursday - Sunday from about 8 AM - 4 PM. Jamie himself suggested that the next time I come back, I should get there first thing in the morning for the best selection of local produce. Not sure if this Miami girl will make it up to Broward that early on the weekend, but a great tip for early risers out there. To get to Garden of Eden: it's between Sheridan and Stirling west of 95. There is usually live music, but this month they featured a DJ who was spinning the Caribbean beats. We loved that! The atmosphere was vibrant with good vibes and lots of colorful art decorating the sides of the plaza. I was disappointed that there was only one food truck and 3 local goods vendors. However, this event does have the potential to be a good family week day outing. We will give it another chance next month.

It will be held every second Saturday of the month from 9 AM to 2 PM. Unlike a lot of markets that close in the hotter months, this market is year-round. Calling this a farmers market is a bit of stretch since there wasn't any produce for sale. I would call this more of a community market. There was a DJ playing lively music and a yoga event on the lawn. Set among the art installations were booths selling jewelry, Kona Ice, clothes, bags, coffee, empanadas, local honey, skin care products, Easter baskets, and more. The Village Art Plaza is a new event space and sculpture garden next to City Park. It is a gorgeous outdoor space with sculptures, murals, and plenty of seating. This public art space was designed to be a place where the community can gather for cultural events like this market and food truck nights. The Village Art Plaza Farmers Market is a family and dog friendly event. Taco and I had a great morning and if you get the chance to check out the plaza, I am sure you will enjoy it too.
