We had a fantastic tour guide who brought a ton of charisma and fun to his retelling of the history and stories behind The Globe. There is also a self-guided portion of the tour, with props and set pieces from some of the more modern productions which was very fun to see. Stop in the gift shop for a few souvenirs to cap off the experience.

The guides are often also members of the company and are ensemble members of the shows. Our guide was fun and engaging. We got to get up close near the stage and visit a couple of the upper boxes. I only wish the tour was longer. Do remember that the theatre is open-air and thus affected by the elements. Keep that in mind when going, if you need a poncho or umbrella or sunscreen. It was a good tour, informative and interesting. There are different tour options, some which go to other areas (like, I think there is a backstage inclusive tour). And as always, you end in the gift shop to spend more money. But I did really like the kinds of souvenirs they had to buy. Worth a visit for all.

Beautiful theater in London's West End…read more We saw Hamilton and this by far, my favorite production of this musical. The king is my favorite character, and the understudy was playing him this particular evening. He was sooooo good! The theater itself was intimate and really the perfect size. The staff were very helpful helping us locate our seats so we had no problem in finding our way. The show itself was spectacular! The music and actors did amazing and I'm just so sad we don't have this in California. It was a wonderful night and will remain as a great memory to always cherish. What made the night even more amazing was meeting some of the actors on their way out after the show!

Really easy to get to. It's a massive theater compared to other London theaters. Multiple floors and very roomy. The staff were wonderful and everything was well organized from the ticket scanners at the front door to the gift shop, bars and ushers. They actually do an afternoon tea in the main bar area. Theater bathrooms are a hit or miss a lot of times. These ones were updated and quite roomy for the space allotted. Our tickets were at the top row of the balcony. Regardless the view was so nice. You could see some of the mechanisms raising and lowering from below the stage but it's wasn't a detriment to the show. I think it's really awesome to realize the history of some of the old theaters. The interior felt like I was on Bridgerton.

They did sell the programs at the bar. The restroom was nice and big and clean. We did have slightly obstructed view seating with some spots on stage not visible but overall did not disrupt the performance too much. It's a smaller theater so we could still see the action on stage clearly. Great show and it was cool to see it performed with a different cast.

As for the actual show, I reaaally wanted to love it, but it missed the mark for me in many ways. The mixup of pop songs was gimmicky and didn't always fit the scene. The intro and outro dance numbers were so fun to watch, I was expecting that cabaret style throughout the show, but it didn't deliver. Also, they couldn't pick a better song than Katy Perry's 'firework' for Satine's solo? As far as the theatre experience, I had a seat in the stalls Row G and it was so close to the stage with a great view of the performers. Leg room is a little tight. The bar is just outside and downstairs to the seating area, it has a nice vintage theme to it and a special drink menu for the show. I ordered the Parisian Passion cocktail which was really nice and not too sweet.

The glass cup with the box was a bit much to carry and there is a bit of a weird ledge you can rest your feet on, however that does complicate the shuffle a bit. All that said, in terms of musicals, Paddington is a winner and I would recommend the show to anyone. The amount of planning that went into the production was well worth it. If you can find seats in the first 5-7 rows prepare to be immersed in the most magical way possible.

The stage was gorgeously dressed, show well acted. The aesthetics however, were a little bit of a let down. Seats were smallish, not a lot of room space. Drinks and snack offerings at the theatre were a bit disappointing. Popcorn was eh. Bathrooms small. They were out of playbills for the play which was very disappointing. The line to the store after the show was so long I wasn't able to get a souvineer. Be warned that once you scan your tickets you are sort of stuck in the theater portion of the Savoy. I had been looking forward to spending time at the hotel to look at the lobby or eat but after the show, we were let out in the back and it was far away from the hotel entrance.

The Garrick Theatre is situated on Charing Cross Road, just south of Leicester Square Underground station. The theatre is one of the smaller West End venues, housing 718 patrons over three levels. Having been to a few West End theatres that were built at the same time or earlier than the Garrick, the first thing that struck me, was how tired the theatre looks. As you walk into the foyer the first impression, is that a lick of paint is required. In fact a wholesale refurbishment. Working my way to my seat in the stalls, was like going through a maze of corridors, past bars and communial areas. The auditorium itself is one that has a circle which overhangs quite a bit of the stalls. This means that posts are required to support it, which means that some seats behind the posts could have a restricted view. In fact the production I saw had TV images projected from the top of the stage, which meant you were unlikely to see them if you were in and rome behind row N. The theatre does have plenty of gents toilet facilities (can't talk for the ladies). Again a warren of up and down stairs and corridors. Again they too could do with a refit. This theatre is one of my least favourite in the West End, but then again us Londoners are blessed to have so many good ones as well.

Incredible performance by the actors of his Majesty's theater, the longest running show for phantom…read moreof the opera in West End over 40 years. In this case, the show aged well, and the props and costumes have clearly had time and money invested as this was the best rendition of Phantom I've seen to date. There was fire, light effects, great structures and hidden trapdoors, fake balconies, even a mysterious Houdini chair (no spoilers) and the production of Phantom here is clearly worth the full house it had tonight. Standing ovation at the end and tons of fun souvenirs to takeaway memories of the show. I sat in A21, center of the front row of balcony, and the view was perfect, showing just the bottom of the stage up. If I leaned forward, I could see into the pit which the ground floor seats could not. All the music was played by the incredible orchestra in the pit, Four private boxes at the front sides were filled with two persons each, which could be a fun return trip. I hope to definitely be back for another viewing some day. Incredible!

The theatre's name changes with the gender of the reigning monarch, reverting to His Majesty's Theatre in May 2023 following the accession of King Charles III. The history of His Majesty's Theatre has a rich tale spanning over 300 years and four different buildings on the same Haymarket site in London's West End. It is one of the few theatres whose name changes with the gender of the reigning British monarch. First Theatre (1705-1789): Opened as the Queen's Theatre in April 1705 by architect and playwright John Vanbrugh during the reign of Queen Anne. Due to licensing laws, it quickly became an opera house, and George Frideric Handel premiered over 25 of his operas there. Upon the accession of George I in 1714, it was renamed the King's Theatre. This building was destroyed by a fire in 1789. Second Theatre (1791-1867): A new, larger theatre, also known as the King's Theatre, opened in 1791. It hosted London premieres of operas by Mozart and Beethoven, and in the mid-19th century became renowned for romantic ballet, with famous ballerinas performing the works of Jules Perrot. When Queen Victoria ascended the throne in 1837, it was renamed Her Majesty's Italian Opera House (later just Her Majesty's Theatre). This building also fell victim to fire in 1867. Third Theatre (1868-1896): A third structure was built within the shell of the old one in 1868. After remaining dark for several years due to a rent dispute, it was used for a period by a Christian revivalist movement before returning to theatrical use, hosting the first complete English performance of Wagner's Ring cycle and appearances by Sarah Bernhardt. It was eventually demolished in 1892 as it had become technically outmoded. Fourth (Current) Theatre (1897-present): The current French Renaissance-style building was commissioned by actor-manager Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and opened on April 28, 1897, as Her Majesty's Theatre. Tree produced spectacular Shakespearean plays and literary adaptations and even established the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in an apartment he built for himself in the theatre's dome. The current theatre is very well organized. The audience was very respectful during the show and did not seem overly crowded. However, you should be aware the restroom facilities are very small (remember, it's an old building) so plan accordingly! We both look forward to to going back when we return to London!
