outlook lodge (main house) taken from the guest parking lot

Wow, what a gem. We had a wonderful time visiting the area. It feels so private and secluded yet located right of of US 24. Such a beautiful house equipped with everything you might need from a laundry room to an outdoor grill. The room was so clean and well decorated. The whole property is, really. They provide guests with a fully equipped kitchen, laundry supplies, and amazing malin + goetz toiletries. When using amenities, you have to clean up after yourself but all guests were respectful of property rules, amenities, and noise curfew. I also think it was in a perfect location. Green Mountain Falls is such a small but friendly town with lots of hiking trails and amazing scenery. Lots of yummy food options down the road (literally less than a 5 minute walk!) and up to 10-20 minutes by car if you choose to go to woodland park, manitou springs, or colorado springs. Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks, and other attractions are also not too far. While there is no formal reception, Jennifer was always available over the phone and Terri even checked in with us to make sure we had everything we need. I honestly have no complaints. Yes, there are a lot of stairs to go up to the carriage house and main lodge but there's also a passenger drop off in the back, requiring no stairs. You could also stay in the Little Beaver Lodge (same owners, right next door) and it appears to have less steps. There is also poor reception but that's just perfect to disconnect and unwind (and there's good wifi if you need it) Check out was very easy but leaving was so hard!! Can't wait to be back!

Shared lobby - they tried to stay true to the historic integrity of the building but added luxuries.

Started with an a contactless checkin- felt like a fun escape room to get our keys. Carriage room upper level room 4 perfect for us. We plan to come back with a few more couples just to hang out. We used it as our landing base. Went to Colorado Springs and did the Broadmoor but felt that this place was less pretentious with the same feel of retreat from the city so we came back here. Extra blankets under the bed. Kitchen fully stocked. Kureg in room. Got a steak and corn to bbq. Went to breakfast at Joanie's Deli. Yum!

Outlook Lodge is advertised as "a luxury historic vacation woodland retreat hotel with waterfall hiking and charming lake in Green Mountain Falls, near Colorado Springs and Denver." It's near Colorado Springs and hours away from Denver ... and it is somewhere between a cabin, a dorm, and a hotel. The Outlook Lodge was an excellent choice for a multi-room family vacation. We rented 3 of the 4 rooms in the Carriage House next to the Main Lodge (which has 2 rooms). All of them share the large living room, kitchen, laundry, BBQ grill, and fire pit at the Main Lodge. It was nice to relax with family during the day on the patio deck or playing cards before having some drinks around the fire pit at night. As for the guest rooms, well, they definitely aren't luxury, but were a step up from a National Park Lodge. The simple bathroom and mediocre bed didn't really matter to me as long as the WiFi worked (which really meant a lot of sense there was no AT&T coverage). There also are no onsite employees, so check-in and such is self-service. All-in-all, the Outlook Lodge was a decent hotel option for a couple nights that made up for its rustic edges with friendliness and charm.

I stayed here for five (5) days in the Carriage House Deluxe room and truly from all of my hotel and lodge experiences, the room's interior set up and the lodge's style has been one of the best on this side of Colorado. -- Important: No Check-in / No Reception Desk I can also state it has been the most interesting stay I have encountered. To begin with, I received an email before my stay with instructions on how to obtain my key from a locker. Yes, a locker. It was interesting arriving, looking for the locker box, and then aligning the left-dial/ right-dial combination correctly to gain access to the keys. There is no reception desk here. No checking-in or checking-out. -- Parking Issues Unfortunately, one of the nights the small parking lot was full and not having a reception desk or anyone on site caused an issue. There was absolutely nowhere to park nearby legally and so I called the number (left to call if there are issues) to see if they can tell me where the nearest approved parking location was-- Not only did no one answer, no one returned my phone call/ voicemail...ever! A big red flag! Also to note, the parking lot is not paved, which became muddy and nasty when it rained and the lighting is not good. No biggie, just something to consider. -- Other Things to Consider Besides the fact that no one is on site to aid when needed, there are 45+ stairs to go up before you get to the lodge from the parking lot. That's a lot of stairs to bring luggage up. There is a passenger drop off behind the lodge that you can pull up to, but no parking is available in that area. -- Overall The lodge is very nice and it does feel perfect for a romantic, private getaway. However, not having anyone on the property for needed services or during an emergency, or even having someone available via phone is an issue for me. If you're ok with potentially not getting a hold of someone from the property, this is a super clean and comfortable lodge, I would recommend. *3 Stars- One (1) star deducted due to no responses during my stay nor after I left a note on the matter. Thankfully, it was not an emergency. Another star deducted for parking issues.

My wife and I just enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Outlook Lodge. We were impressed. Nestled in the trees above town, the setting is stunning. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable firm beds, soft premium towels, and guest robes. There are several hiking options from town. We took a short but vigorous hike to the falls pictured below. A great way to start the morning. The restaurant options did not disappoint, The Pantry for breakfast and the Mucky Duck for dinner. Both just a short walk away. A goose nesting in a flower box by the stairs to the lodge was there to great us with a watchful eye when we came and went. But our favorite part was the fire pit. With comfortable Adirondack style chairs, we enjoyed many hours reading and relaxing there. The bottom line, you won't be disappointed.

We treated ourselves to a stay at the Outlook Lodge for our anniversary. It was perfect! So cozy and quaint with the right balance of warmth and luxury. The lodge itself is stunning - nestled on the mountain with a beautiful wrap around porch and all the amenities for a romantic and functional stay just outside of Colorado Springs. We spent one evening playing cards by the fire in the main house and another nestled in the ample bay window reading. It was the perfect place to reconnect and unplug from the stress of the day to day. The quality toiletries were a nice touch as our skin needed the extra love after a couple of days in the cold. A couple of things to note - there is no check in on site, be on the lookout for an email with instructions. For anyone with mobility issues, the lodge might be difficult. There are steep stairs up the front and while you can pull around in the back to unload, our car slid a bit because of the ice. Thank goodness my husband has snow driving experience. Overall, we highly recommend the Outlook Lodge.

This place made me decide to never rent from a personal rental company ever again…read more I believe this rental was once nice but it is in desperate need of some TLC. To start, it was dirty. The renter confirmed that they do the cleaning themselves and it's evident. Pillow cases had stains on them, fridge and freezer had crumbs and hair in them. There should be a professional cleaner going in and sanitizing after every guest. Several things were broken (and honestly, dangerous). The door locks are also not in good shape. There is no deadbolt on the front or back door. The front door lock was literally being held together by BAND AIDS! Yes BANDAIDS. Ironically enough they had a sign next to the front door warning about bears in the area LOL. The patio fairy lights were not working. There's a floodlight that is on a minute timer so we kept having to move around if we wanted any lighting in the front porch or in the backyard where the hot tub is. If you get into the hot tub after dark, good luck, bring your own lights unless you want complete darkness. We specifically rented this cabin for the hot tub but it did not work. We followed the instructions posted. The "heating" light was on. We waited 45 minutes and the temperature didn't move a single degree. When we raised these concerns to Sandy and Bob, they were sarcastic and rude. Even after seeing the pictures with the proof. They claimed that all of our issues were because the home was "historic". Historic does NOT mean dirty and broken and unsafe. Imagine going to a historic museum and seeing things held together with band aids?! So just know that if you book and have any issues, they will not give a care in the world!
