Although the rooms were nice, we were disappointed with a number of things: First, it was evident that there was little to no communication between Sun Mountain Center and Sun Water Spa. The two entities claim to be "sister businesses," but almost a week after our stay, I am still trying to get in touch with the Spa with regard to the "discount" we were supposed to have received because we were lodging at the Center. Secondly, none of us were greeted by anyone at any point during our stay at the Center. Although the rooms were comfortable, the reception was quite cold. Lastly, we are a group of five women who thrive from being with one another. After asking various members of the staff via phone if the suite could accommodate five people, we were told that we would have to purchase two rooms. (We were more than happy to pay for a fifth in the suite "for four" we had reserved.) The suite "for four" was enormous. We could have easily fit five (or more) people in one room. We understand Sun Mountain Center is a business and has to run accordingly, but we certainly didn't feel like our stay was a priority. I am a yoga instructor and also have a travel company. I frequently search for places to send my clients and I am in constant communication with lodging facilities around the world. I know how facilities should welcome and treat their clients and Sun Mountain Center fell short, hence my "three star" rating. Stay at Sun Mountain Center. Enjoy the food and the hot tub, just don't expect a warm greeting or flexibility in your accommodations.

There are 2 100-year-old mansions on the property, along with a biodynamic farm. It's even a few steps above glamping as it should be for the steep price. However, if you want to experience a few days in a great outdoors The Ranch at Emerald Valley is perfect. After 4 nights at the Broadmoor resort (also amazing) we took the 2pm shuttle up a rocky mountain road to the Ranch. We were greeted by Aaron, a fellow Northwestern alum (go Wildcats) and his incredible staff. There were 38 people total our first night there, which the told us was a record for the Ranch. It didn't feel very crowded though (especially after the craziness of the resort) and most of the people had kids the same age as ours which was a lot of fun. They showed us to our cabin, Hills Cabin, which I realized was the "presidential cabin." It was a huge 2 bedroom cabin that had enough room for 6 kids up in loft up top and a beautiful master suite. + 3 bathrooms and a ginormous kitchen/dining room that we didn't really put to use. It also have a big TV with Netflix and a lovely fireplace. There's a 3rd bedroom that's attached to it, although the 2nd night we were there it was rented by another couple with a separate entrance. There's plenty of fun to be had at the ranch: horseback riding, paddleboats/kayaks, archery, fishing, hiking etc. And if you get a rainy afternoon there are plenty of board games to play both in the lodge and in the cabin. We spent 2 nights here, although with the rain wish we had an extra night to enjoy some of the activities we didn't have a chance to squeeze in. The food was absolutely amazing. My picky children were even in heaven and my little guy has been asking for lobster ever since trying it as their Wed night cookout. Dinners besides the twice a week cookout involves ordering off a menu with plenty of choices for all. I do wish they did a better job with labeling the buffet with food allergies. My son has a serious nut allergy and almost ate a brownie with walnuts because it wasn't labeled and I had to constantly ask if things had nuts and/or gluten in them. They asked for our dietary restrictions ahead of time so assumed they'd be better about this. This really was a very special experience that I think our kids will remember for a long time. I heard this coming week a big family is renting out the entire ranch and I'd love to do the same with family and/or friends at some point, although it was fun getting to know some lovely people from around the country as well.

The couple is very nice and you can tell both of them enjoy running the B and B. We stayed in the Copenhagen room which had a king size bed and a nice bathroom attached. It had a mini fridge in it and it was right next to the mini bar that comes with complimentary drinks! My wife and I stayed their the first two nights of our honeymoon and I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. We will most definitely be back many times.

It's MUCH smaller than I expected and only had a full size bed. Was expecting a queen as we are two adults. It was tight. The bed is SUPER low to the floor. There are 2 small nightstands which are taken up with the lamps. Would be better served to mount lights on the wall. The only place to unpack your luggage is storage drawers under the bed. May as well leave in my luggage on the floor. There are no dressers and no closet. The bathroom has the smallest sink I've seen in my life. Washing your hands or face leaves the floor soaking wet. There is enough room for a small narrow shelf but nope. So there's nowhere to put toiletries either. The outlet in the bathroom didn't work, which is the only place with a (very) small useable mirror. I had to plug my hair dryer and straightener in in the kitchen and do my hair from afar. There is 1 mirror by the front door but it's mounted too high to be useable. It'd be helpful to have a full length mirror on the wall opposite of the door so someone could get ready while the other is in the bathroom. But there's no outlets anywhere over there so that wouldn't work either. The bedding was awful. Thin, rough sheet. Bottom sheet only which is weird because everyone's "body" is then touching the very thin comforter. We were cold and there's no extra linens so we put the towels over us to sleep and stay warm without turning the heat on (which we couldn't figure out and didn't want to roast in that tiny room either.) The pillows are literally PLASTIC. They make your face sweat and make so much noise when you shift around. Luckily I brought my hairdryer which I usually don't because there's not one provided. Thank goodness this was only for one night. It was horrible. Would not recommend at all. Not functional, definitely not for more than 1 night. Absolutely nothing good about this place. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Breakfast was served at anytime between 7-10 and had a great variety of juices, teas, coffees and other accompaniments to to the main meal. They had a courtesy keurig & water bottle located in the closet for use at any time. The Inn was within walking distance to the downtown area and located near the beautiful Colorado College campus. We stayed in August 2016 and the rate for the Lily of the Valley room was $95/night - much cheaper than most of the hotels in the area. If you're looking for a bargain without sacrificing location & amenities, then look no further than the Crescent Lily.

There are so many secret beautiful garden areas, sitting areas to discover. Steve was great to work with. He's the manager and the owner of the property and takes a lot of pride in his venue. He was flexible whenever I needed to come stop by or do a walk through with vendors. The photos in the garden turned out perfectly- SUCH a beautiful venue. My guests were all so, so impressed with the location. I have received some negative feedback after the wedding. First, we splurged and paid extra to have our cocktail hour in the "Wine Garden" where people can have some appetizers and Steve actually serves people glasses of wine for the hour before the reception. We had pre-paid for all the alcohol served at the wedding. In the middle of the cocktail hour he "ran out" of wine and stopped serving people. (He had extra at the bar, so not sure why he wouldn't go get more bottles... especially since we had pre-paid) Then the bar service was INCREDIBLY slow. Steve worked the bar with another gentleman and it was not efficient at all. Guests were waiting in line upwards of 30 minutes for a drink because only one person was making a drink... they weren't tendering cash because we had pre-paid, so I am not sure why it was taking so long. Lastly, I would just make sure you understand all the charges associated with your day. We had to pay the bar $50/hour plus $6/drink (for mediocre beer and wine choices) plus gratuity, plus they put out a tip jar. Also, they were VERY strict about ID-ing people. Which... I totally understand, but they would not remember people or have a system (like wristbands or stamps) so they ID'd everyone every.single.time. Beyond the bar situation, the venue was fantastic, I would definitely recommend it!

There was a vending machine but the one breakfast offered was NOT at an appropriate time for me or my daughter. I eat before 8am and I could have made it until 9 am but the cooking wasn't even started and the kitchen was still trashed by 10 am the next morning. There was still a stinky pizza box on the counter when I was looking for a cup of coffee and we had left to eat every single time so we had eaten by the time the breakfast was being started and the guy cooking (NOT THE REGULAR CHEF) wasn't even started by 9:30 and honestly looked hung over as heck. I do not feel I got a $300 experience at all. It felt like I went to a big house party and paid too much to be there. I could have had a better time at a private air BnB where I had to cook and clean myself. I am not exaggerating even a little this was a horrible experience for me and even if they offered me a free stay there another time I would absolutely decline to do so. The whole thing taught me that I am not a bed and breakfast type person unless breakfast is before 8am and the people running the place are WAY MORE TIDY; (at least having coffee made earlier than 8am); I didn't enjoy my stay the way I had hoped I would and it wasn't comfortable enough to lounge at for me. I thought it would be great for my service dog also and he didn't mind the festival going on but this place isn't designed to have a festival. There isn't enough space. Other people were just hanging out everywhere also smoking cigs. Yuck! I am fine with. Cannabis anything but cigarettes in my breathing air is not ok with me. Ever. So if I have to smell that I will not be pleased. It could prossibly be better on a weekend when there isn't anything extra happening. The event was a complete joke but that absolutely wasn't because of the Inn or any of the Inn staff but it ruined my experience. In fact I spent all day in Manitou not at the festival. The town is amazing and fun it was the best part of our trip being anywhere but our room. NOTICE: I did get to meet the regular chef from the Inn he was kind and friendly but definitely frustrated himself over it all. So, I am sorry I have to leave this review but it absolutely is not some place I would recommend now. It really was filthy in the main house. I wish I had been there when the regular staff was in charge. I had a better stay at the La Quinta in Pueblo on the way to Manitou and that isn't much so hand up I have to be honest and this was my real experience. There are no pictures of my room or the house because like I said I was not even impressed enough to take one. Not even one. The pictures posted by others is real but they got the clean version not weekend at Bernie's like me.
