My friend introduced me to this wee hidden treasue last week. Tea House of the Loch is nestled…read morebeside the Loch at Gartcosh, with the quaint little tea house overlooking the water. Saturdays are really busy so was glad I decided last minute to book a table. The menu is filled with sandwiches, bagels, paninis etc and all come with soup for £5.95 which is a bargain when you see the portions. However the most popular order seemed to be the high tea for two, which at £5 per person is amazing! The atmosphere is lovely, with a mix of couple, familes and quite a few grannies being treated to tea and cakes by their grandkids. The decor is nothing fancy, but the setting and welcoming staff easily makes up for it There is fabulous selection of Suki teas and homemade baking. Soups of the day this week were tomato with basil and potato and leek. Last wee I tried the curried butternut squash which was amazing! The setting is lovely and the food is well worth the 15min drive from Dennistoun. There is a garden centre and lovely views onto the loch so you could easily spend a few hours over a coffee, chatting and escaping city life. I can't speak highly enough of this place and look forward to making myself a regular! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tea-House-On-The-Loch/141357772588944?fref=ts

It was…read moreearly at 5:00pm and not busy. 3 of the 4 of us ordered the fish and chips (17.95 GBP) just to try another joint. The wife ordered their "Fisherman" which is pan seared Scottish coley or pollock (for 27 GBP). The battered fish with the chips was more delicately done here and delicious. As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing.

The wine list is replete with moderately priced wines; honestly we would have been willing to pay more for a couple of even better alternatives, but I would not classify that as a complaint. Service was friendly and attentive and this restaurant is so eclectic and fun.

Omorphia did not disappoint in bringing the flavours of Greece flooding back! On the corner of Bellshill Main Street is not the place you'd expect to find an authentic Greek restaurant, but don't let that put you off. Inside the decor is standard, nothing special, but the food does the talking. Whilst looking through the menu, we were brought some lovely fresh bread, butter, olives and some oil and balsamic (which we duly inhaled). I could've ordered everything as it all sounded so delicious. I started with 'Pastourma' - Greek village sausage with a Mango salad. The sausage its self was spicy and quite dense, similar to a chorizo. It was delicious and paired beautifully with the unusual combo of Mango salad. For main, myself and my 2 friends all went for the Lamb Gyros. The lamb was absolutely meltingly tender. The pitta was doused in oil and Greek herbs and was sooooo tasty. Served with Tzatziki (oh the Tzatziki!!!!) and salsa, it was so authentic and delicious! I couldn't finish it, although I truly wanted to! We had sides of Tzatziki with dip, which I love anyway, but this was just extra special. So creamy and garlicky and just divine. We couldn't possibly fit in puddings, but they do a small Greek selection. The only thing that could have improved my meal was a round of Mythos (being pregnant this wasn't to be :(! But I cannot wait to go back and get my next Greek fix!!

Food was amazing, house wine was lovely. Restaurant was quite quiet but had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. Just make sure you save room for dessert.
