I was excited to have some delicious fresh seafood but I found this place to be mediocre. It's a big space with a beautiful view, but the food was not so flavourful. Really good food and the service was spot on and overly friendly! We sat in the dog friendly area which overlooked the bay and marina!!

Had dinner here again this year while cruising and again the same experience -- perfection. We had the calamari appetizer. For entrees, I ordered the lemon crusted halibut, and my wife ordered pasta Milano and added shrimp. The food was outstanding. Of note, the Brussels sprouts that came with my meal were cooked to perfection. Something most restaurants cannot do for some reason. And to top everything off, the service was excellent. My friend, having been here before, suggested we try it for lunch. We wandered over and went into an unmarked entrance. We stood there feeling a bit foolish for a little bit and nobody came over and said, "Oh hey, that's actually not the right door." Or, "Were you looking to have some lunch?" Nothing. After several minutes we decided to go to the other side and see if there was another entrance. There was. Though it appeared just as desolate and unwelcoming as the previous one. How were we to tell the difference? There was no reception podium, no sign saying "Please, wait to be seated" or "Seat yourself". Nothing. Eventually a waitress came to us in our confusion and said we sit on the upstairs patio. I am usually a very patient person - but this service was ridiculous. For the amount of waitresses that were traipsing around inside, you'd think some water would arrive faster than 10 minutes. We ordered nachos to share and, I kid you not, it took about 40 minutes for them to arrive. Seriously? How long does it take you to melt cheese onto some chips? Fed up and knowing how slow they were I immediately asked them for the bill as they came with our food. Good thing I did because that took another 10 minutes! read more

Against the subtle hinting by the locals we set off to try the oyster catcher. We were looking for some oysters. Our first clue regarding the quality, after the 15 minutes it took to get a menu, was that they were out of fresh oysters, but we could have the fried ones. It was obvious they were woefully understaffed. The servers were friendly and helpful, but there weren't enough of them for the busy patio. Our fried oysters, muscles and fish tacos arrived. All were adequate, but not very exciting. For $20 each, we were expecting a little more quality, given the portions, which were normal. The muscles were the best component of the meal, but probably half the size and half the taste of most muscles on the west coast. If you find yourself with no other options, it's fine for a lazy pub day, but if you have higher expectations go elsewhere. read more

The OC has been our family's frequent stop for patio dining lunch and dinner every year when we visit SSI. Not only is the food delish, but we love the exceptional service from the staff, especially Russ, Greg and Cam. We also love the nightly live entertainment..... you can't vest it. Nice location but fresh halibut was frozen. Batter likely frozen, certainly dull and uninteresting. Mussels a 6/10.

Passed this place in Ganges Harbour,looked like a great location Lots of people ordering drinks, sounds good,great location. When you walk in ,your not sure if you should seat yourselves,we did and the waitress said she would be there shortly after several minutes of uncertainty. Good drinks.those come out quick,the food did as well. I ordered the salmon burger ,my dining partner ordered a burger. both came with a generous slice of tomato,unusual for fish burger. The salmon tasted like it was precooked and then heated up,they burned it! Too bad, could of been any kind of fish.The best thing about it was the bun. Normally it would be fine , but for a 18 dollar burger in this location ,you expect more They charge you $3 for a small caesar salad instead of fries as well. My wife and I had a lunch here and both of us enjoyed. I had the halibut tacos which were very good but could have had better seasoning. My wife, the S.S.I muscle chowder which I "sampled" and found it as delicious as she had. For desert, the home made doughnuts tossed in cinnamon sugar with Carmel and strawberry compote dips. Food was very good. Service was almost perfect and timely. View of the harbour is fantastic. We would come back. read more

A a couple of years ago I went to the Oyster Catcher and was disappointed like some of the other reviews below. Today's visit though, we found things have improved immeasurably. I understand they're under new management. They seem to be as good as when we first tried them 10 years ago! Well worth another go. read more
