**BEWARE THIS PLACE IS A SCAM** Go somewhere else for painting pottery! The ceramics are expensive with most pieces being between $32-$48, all with "Made in China" labels. However, there is no paint or kiln cost it's all included with the price of the ceramic so it makes sense that it is on the higher side. But with the cost of paint included we watched the employee ADD WATER into the paint bottles there. Then when I went to use the black paint it was so watery that it bled onto my other designs. I mean it's ceramic paint, not water color. When I told the girl working she said her boss added too much water to the black paint. My mom asked for the name of her boss and the girl said Videria but not sure how to spell it but didn't want to give her name. When I asked what to do about my piece because I had just spent hours working on it to have black paint run on it, she asked what I wanted her to do about it. I mean I feel like if you work at a pottery shop you should know how to wipe off paint or fix something if it gets messed up. My brother was working on a larger piece and on his second coat of paint when she came over and told him less goes farther. And took his paint away to bring him back a little amount. I'm not sure that treating people this way and diluting paints is the best way to run a paint pottery shop. If a boss or owner wants to reach out with their contact info my mom has a photo of the girl. At the end we spent $140 for four small ceramics and had inattentive service, and saw how slimy a business this place really is. read more

GREAT place for all ages. There are many ceramics to choose from: plates, platters, figurines, marvel cups and mugs, doggie food bowls...ect... We were there with my 4 year old grand daughter who picked out a helicopter to paint. She struggled a little with the painting but the young lady who worked there was very friendly and helpful and helped her with the finishing touches. I went here 3 weeks ago and I honestly will NEVER go back and I will never tell anyone to go here. The staff never told us that they had run out of certain colors so when we picked out our pieces, 3 of them, we thoughts they had all the options that they showed on the wall. NOPE. They had run out of at least 5 colors. They don't even tell you once you pick out your piece. Nope, my boyfriend picked out a football and he started to paint brown and halfway through he was told there was no more brown...well now what. They basically told him SOL, so now what he had a half brown $40 piece. They didn't even offer to let him pick a new one. Then..when he went to pick up the pieces, they apparently spray a glaze that discolors the pieces, so his brown piece now looks blue. They told him that he basically had to take the piece as is or he could paint a new one, but had to pay for it. Yeah, no thanks. This place doesn't seem to want to keep their customers happy with the simplest of common sense items. Skip this place and go somewhere else. read more

My co-workers and I came here for a one of our team outing activities. We all got to enhance our creative skills by painting pottery! Pros: - Extremely friendly/nice staff. - BYOB! We brought moscato from Valero down the street. - Several pottery pieces to choose from including bowls, plates, crosses, pineapples, letters, Christmas stuff, etc. - No additional fees. You pick your own object and each piece is $xx amount. - There's no time limit! You can take as much time as you need to finish painting. - Variety of beautiful colors to choose from so you're not limited to the basic colors of the rainbow. - No need to make reservations but you can if you'd like. Cons: - Nothing. Everything was fantastic. That's why I gave this place 5 stars! *Update* About a week later, our pottery was ready for pick up! Our potteries were much more shiny after it was baked in the kiln. We're all very pleased with our pieces :) I highly recommend! read more

What a fun place! My daughter wanted to make something for her dad for Christmas and thought this would be a great gift. We walk in and are greeted right away. The ladies are very friendly, answer all our questions and give us the complete run down on how everything works. They have a great selection of ceramics to paint, lots of stencils and stamps to choose from. I have no idea if they do Birthday parties or not but, if I had little ones I'd have a party here. First time going I went with my 18 yr old niece. You pick what you want to paint and that determines how much it will be. I chose a little princess figurine and my niece chose a skull figurine. It came out to about $30 but it is all inclusive so all the paint and supplies we can use were included. We stayed here longer than expected lol we were there for about 3.5 hours or so. We really took our time and talked. After you're done, you give them the things you painted and they put a glaze over it which takes about a week or so. I haven't gotten my figurines back yet so we will see how they come out. So far so good experience. It was very fun. Update: I went today Tuesday February 28 2017 to pick up the figurines at 7:20pm and the place was closed. Signs and online says it closes at 8pm. Wasn't true tonight. read more

I worked retail for a decade so I do understand wanting to be able to close on time but the person on staff was extremely aggressive about their closing time being 30 minutes away to the point it marred the experience - it wasn't really all that enjoyable. Really disappointed in this establishment. First of all there wasn't a large variety of pieces to choose from. When me and my boyfriend finally sit down to paint it was a great time, but the environment felt a little off. We finished up our ceramics and handed it in to be fired to take home in a couple weeks. 3-4 weeks pass by without hearing from them so I gave them a call- no answer. I call a couple more times, and when they pick up I ask them if we can go in for pick up. They said someone had already taken it home??? At this point I'm a little confused because I'm pretty sure I didn't go an grab it. Long story short, they lost our pieces and we got no reimbursement. If you're looking for an activity that's out of the ordinary, The Painted Plate is great! There is a variety of objects available to paint. Objects range from around $12 to over $40. I chose a martini glass to paint which was $32. The good news is that price is all inclusive of paint, studio time, glaze and time in the kiln. The staff is very helpful and will assist whenever you need. Plan to spend a little time there because you have to put three coats of paint on your product in order to get the color result you're looking for. Once the glaze is applied and there's time in the kiln, it will be a much darker color than what you see in the pictures. Downside, you have to wait 7-10 days before you can take your object home. Kind of disappointed that I couldn't leave with what I painted. Nevertheless, I'm excited to see my final product in a week or so. Highly recommended for a fun afternoon activity with friends. read more

I'm not really big on painting pottery but this place always provides an excellent experience. Many people don't know this place is BYOB which is definitely a pleasant surprise. When you arrive you are instantly greeted by staff and are allowed to selected the objects you want to paint. The store usually has a wide selection but things were limited during my most recent visit following the holidays which is quite understandable. Once you select your pieces you grab the color paint you want and sit down to paint. There is plenty of seating available but I imagine your may have to share a table with others during peak times. Once you have completed your masterpieces it will take about a week or so for them to be fired. Overall my experience has been great and I plan to visit again read more

Newly renovated The Painted Plate looks amazing. Went with a group of friends and painted till we dropped. The owner and her wonderful staff were so helpful and super nice. They stayed on top of the rinsing bowls asked if we needed more paint for our projects, and clean fresh brush if we needed it. I came here with my three girls for a fun family outing, which indeed it was! There was a good selection for my teenagers, but my little one had limited options. I also liked the use of the small tiles to next to the paint so you can see the true colors of the glaze you select. PRICING Price-wise the pieces were more on the upper end of what we paid for at other establishments. Small pieces were $16+, medium pieces were $30+, and larger pieces were $40+. We did like our pieces, but the $150+ check was a bit steep. SERVICE Samantha was working that day & did a good job of explaining the painting process to us. Her manner was polite, we felt welcomed, and she wore her mask the entire time (much appreciated). She also maintained a clean work space inside (wiping down tables, general tidying up) and outside - cleaning window glass. She checked up on us infrequently, which I prefer considering we were focussing on our pieces. Water and other refreshments were complimentary and she offered us some during one of her limited visits to our table. My gals really enjoyed that! ROOOM FOR IMPROVEMENT The areas I felt that did interrupt our enjoyment of the entire experience are the following: 1) The check was provided too early. Before we even had a chance to start painting, the check was given to me and stayed on our table the entire time we were there. $150+ number just glaring at me. 2) The tables kept moving around! There are wheels on 9/10 tables which appeared to have a locking mechanism, but didn't work. The table that didn't have wheels was a High-boy table which was not ideal for my little one. Left-over, torn masking tape was visible on the wheels where it seems they tried to secure the wheels. The slightest movements moved the entire table (the four wheel on the table making it "slippery"). I asked Samantha for help. She quickly arrived, mentioned that the locking mechanisms didn't work and placed what looked like bath towels under the wheels to keep the tables from moving. It mostly worked and we were able to finish our pieces without further slips. Thanks, Samantha! 3) The seat cushions were badly stained and dirty. I understand the comfort purpose of the cushions, but since there is paint and drinks at the table, it's best to just remove them. Drink or water stains were visible and it just downgraded the place unnecessarily. I much rather have clean looking chairs that can easily be wiped. Overall we had a good experience, but a few tweaks would have made this place even that much more enjoyable. read more

The way it works is you pay for your pottery, and then you pay a studio fee. That's it. All of the paints, markers, brushes, stencils, stickers, whatever you might need are provided to you. They have a wide array of pieces to choose from, like small tiles and statuettes to large serving dishes and jack-o-lanterns. The staff there is really helpful and always willing to give you tips or help you out. Their new studio is gorgeous, too, and quite spacious. This place is really popular with the toddler crowd, so don't be surprised if there's a few screaming kids when you go in. But I also think it's a great place to take a date and show off your creative side. After you've completed your masterpiece you leave it there for them to kiln, and you can pick it up about a week later. I had my daughter's Birthday Party here and it was wonderful! They were more than accomodating to our needs and the needs of our guests. I loved the cheery studio and the area they sectioned off for us to have our festivities in. The studio is full of different pieces to paint and has tons of colors to choose from. They were very kind to our young artists and very thorough in helping the little ones get their pieces painted. I used to love this place but my last time there was not the best experience. I went to pick up my painted plate and the owner told me that it was chipped. The owner told me that I "didn't wait enough between coats". Kind of sucks when you spend 30 dollars on a plate to come pick it up to be very disappointed. She proceeded talk to me while using her nails to chip away at the plate, stating that it'll continue to chip off from here. I asked her to stop chipping away at it because I'm the one that has to live with the plate because she wasn't going to refund me, help me or anything with the plate. Stumbled upon the painted plate when I was on a date and neither of us wanted to drive all the way to Clay Casa. We wondered around for a while until someone finally approached us and told us the process. I done pottery painting before so I already knew what to do. We chose our pottery & colors and quickly begin working on our "master piece". Maybe I am just use to the friendly staff at Clay Casa, the staff here barely offered to help and I had to flag them down when I needed something. The staff were just chilling behind the counter, doing nothing. Once we finished our pottery, we checked out, for 2 cups the total was almost $50... Which is way ridiculous in my opinion. I've been going to Clay Casa and found that this location is near my house. I was disappointed that the employees were not as friendly, the pottery was more expensive, and the studio fees were not matched up for the online coupon (3 out of 4 families that came in after us Were also wanting to us). I asked to use the thin line paints and they didn't want to let me until I finished my bowl, but I explained I wanted to use it during the process to add the details. (I'm a skilled artist). She reluctantly got it for me. The total price with coupon for 4 of us was the same doing 4 small prices as last week at Clay Casa doing 5 big pieces without a coupon. I'll drive across town for Clay Casa next time just for the better vibe and people. read more

Had a wonderful experience at the Painted Plate this weekend! Lots of great items to choose from, especially some awesome holiday pieces. The staff was super helpful in giving suggestions without making it feel like they are overbearing. I was here in June with my 7yo nephew and it was just as much a great experience with kids than it was with an adult group. The space is well stocked without feeling cluttered. It has a more sophisticated feel to it even from when I visited last in June. I highly recommend this shop for a great adult group activity. Had a great time with two of my kids painting. We had actually never done this before so I had nothing to compare it to. The owner was extremely nice and offered us a coupon (which waived two of the studio fees) even though I didn't have a coupon. Yes, I did feel it was a tad pricy but... we had use of all the paint, stickers, stencils, brushes, etc. I'm guessing owning a business of this sort must cost a lot. The kids at the table next to us wasted more paint than ever and I know this type of paint isn't cheap. Also,we spent a good three hours detailing our work. But the big problem for me was the smell. They have a dog (maybe 2) that is there all the time and the place seriously reeks. After he passed on, I was able to use that wonderful impression to recreate his paw print in a tattoo. I am so happy Painted Plate gave us an opportunity to preserve such a special dog memento. The pieces are a bit expensive, we enjoyed the experience. However, when we received the fired pieces, we noticed some white spots. I pointed this out to the employee and she dismiss my question. Then it took a month to mail out some pieces and given the run around,, we left a voice message with no response, had to continue calling to get this matter straighten out.. My husband and I went to the studio today to help create Christmas gifts using our newborn daughters footprints. The staff was fantastic and very helpful. It was certainly hoping for a weekend. We were lucky to be able to walk in and have a table right away. The ladies set us up with great instructions...as much as I love Pinterest... My crafty skills are not always up to par. I explained what my idea was and they set us up with several books full of ideas of handprint/footprint ideas. The price of the pieces are very reasonable and there is a studio fee per item that's being painted however it's very reasonable considering all the supplies are included, the processing (kiln) is included, as well as they offered to write on each piece we made--considering my handwriting with paint is atrocious. They also offer coupons on their website!! I thought it was super fun as an adult and I think it's a great and fun project for kids during holiday breaks/rainy days/or just because. We made custom coffee mugs with our daughters footprint on them for her grandparents. And thankfully the ladies also helped us get the prints on the pottery nicely so it didn't look like something smudged it. I can't wait to pick it up in about a weeks time!! Great experience where I would consider suggesting this to my moms/play group as a potential outing. Lastly they are more than equipped for birthday parties with a different fee schedule that's easier on patents... We will be back for future creations! :) read more

My daughter and I came here for the 1st time today 04/21/18 at around 4:00pm the staff was amazing. They were so sweet, friendly and accommodating. Everything was explained to us in a kind and understanding manner. I actually felt really bad for the 2 people working. There was a party going on of about 7 to 10 little girls. They were rude to the staff and the other guest. The staff was nothing but kind to them considering how awful they were being. The kids were touching the white pottery with cheetos fingers and running around. I even saw one of the kids touch another customers pottery while they stepped away from their table. The mom had the audacity to ask for a discount and then scoffed rudely when she was told it takes 7 to 10 days to get your pottery back. Those kids damaged some of the pottery. I will totally be back to this location based on how amazing the people who worked there even though they were under a stressful situation. With all of that going on they still made sure everyone else was taken care. Great customer service hands down. Thank you. read more

Had an absolute blast at the Painted Plate! I was looking for something to take my younger cousin to do that would be a fun activity for both her and myself. We ended up spending a little over an hour working on our creations and had a great time together. I would recommend this as a fun, family friendly experience that people of all ages can enjoy. Went here for the first time in a couple of years. Previous experience was for a birthday party for my child's friend, where a tile was painted. As it seemed fun and memorable then, decided to take my 7year old and her friend for a play date activity. We arrived and were greeted. We looked around and tried to find something fun but not outrageous (pricing wise). So much for that, most items begin at $13 and go up from there, some items $75!! Were informed paint and kiln heating were included(thank goodness!) finally picked out 2 pigs at $20 each! However that did not happen before my daughters friend accidentally brushed up against the shelf and knocked off a $13 tiny elephant. Picked it up and put it back on shelf as it did not appear to be broken...wrong. Made our way to table with selected paints and brushes only to be followed by sales attendant who informed us that as item had fallen and chipped a piece, it would not be able to be sold, therefore we would have to purchase item, BUT we were free to paint it! (I would hope so, after we were charged for the accident). So after the girls had their fun of painting, left items for dealing with 7-10 before it would be ready. Probably won't be back for awhile...word of caution, stay away from shelves until you know exactly what you want to paint and maybe leave children at tables as you select for them to avoid accidents in which you will end up paying more than what you plan to pay for a "play date". read more

Very disappointing experience! Initially, everything started off real well. The staff who greeted us and set us up, were very friendly and helpful. They came by our table to check on us and offered great suggestions and little tips. But once their shift ended, it was a night and day difference!! Unfortunately, once they left we were very much forgotten and ignored! The 2 ladies remaining, did not come to check in on us, not even once! The place was not busy at all, so there was no reason for the improper service! A couple of times I had said, "excuse me..." and even then wasn't acknowledged! They were more engrossed in their puppy and painting their own pieces. There was no customer service from them and even when we asked for assistance, it was as though we were disrupting them! Sadly, we were there longer with the later staff, than the earlier and helpful staff. Spent a lot of money and to have not received proper customer service was VERY disheartening and makes us wish we had gone elsewhere! read more

The owner was very helpful and showed me the ropes on the whole process, she even gave me a few pointers on how to make my piece look cool.
