We had a birthday party here for my son and his friend. The kids had a blast! You walk in and there is a table full of lego pieces for the kids to come in and start building. For the birthday party package you pick two projects for the kids to do during the party. Our kids picked the hex bug maze and the robot alligator. The kids had a blast being creative and seeing the awesome results. They ended with a robot battle. The staff was so good with the kids (mix of 6&7 year olds). All the parents have to do is bring the food/cake and party favors and the staff will take care of the rest. They served the food and cupcakes to the kids. They gave each birthday boy a special Robot Garage Lego mini fig. They helped pack up the food and presents and transport them to our cars after. It was a really great experience. We hope to go back to the Robot Garage again in the near future. read more

Great programs available to help young people develop programming engineering and robotics skills. It is a little pricey but well worth it. My kid has gone to the video game design camp and the Minecraft programming summer camp and they had a blast. You do have to pay a little extra for before and after care though. Luckily the grandparents live close by and were able to pick them up but I know not everybody is as fortunate as we are. read more

This place is awesome! This is the first party we have thrown here. The staff was super attentive and we had a great kid to staff ratio. The kids had multiple stations set up where they built pull back cars and nano bugs. Later additional tables where added and the kids played with pre built electronic robots. The venue is small and the party packages are sold by 10 or 18 kid packages. So to prevent standing or play room issues I rented all of the party rooms. I think the coolest party is that they have a robot deliver the birthday cupcake. I throw a party ever year and I'm more than satisfied with my sons 4 th birthday and I plan on doing the same next year. read more

Great concept; poor execution. We came for a birthday party and were really excited to try this place. The first activity was to build a LEGO robot, but clearly no one had checked each tray to make sure all the pieces were there. My child and her partner spent most of the time waiting for not one, not two, but TEN missing pieces for their robot. And each time they realized one was missing, they had to get the attention of a host who had to find the extra pieces bag and then bring it over. They had been doing really well, but didn't get to finish because they ran out of time. My child's first experience with robots--which is pretty important to have these days--was one of frustration. The host said that usually a piece or two was missing, but not ten. Why should there be any missing pieces? Surely they can afford to take the time to double-check the trays before an event. Lastly, the hosts might want to assure the kids that everyone will get a turn with the Battle Bots. There was so much unnecessary anxiety about whether kids would get a turn. There seemed to be some breakdown in communication between the hosts; they didn't all seem to be on the same page. Parties are a great marketing tool to people who otherwise might not have ever come in. The last party I booked for my child was as a result of having such a great experience at a party at another place she had been invited to. In addition to parties, The Robot Garage has classes and drop-in times too. Wouldn't you want to make sure a party goes off without a hitch in order to encourage newcomers to come back? I SO wish we had one here in Edmonton, REALLY. This spot is a fun and easy place to bring your children and have them go at it, making lego builds from houses to automated items :-) As well, for each time I visit (I am originally from this town), I almost ALWAYS find something fun, educational and original to bring back to my own classroom students :-) This last time, last week actually, I found the sticks and wooden wheels sets (the one where you insert the sticks into the holes on the wooden wheels to construct/connect). I got 3 sets so that it would be enough for the whole class to share....WELL, since I brought them in, Monday, my students are STILL playing with them and incorporating them into other building toys (the Legos and magnetic shapes) ... :-) I have read a few reviews and wish my students could have one nearby so we could go for a class fieldtrip....we have a LEGO store here, this shop would be a PERFECT companion to it :-) In fact, I have often asked them at the store if they would consider expanding their operations to Edmonton... Can't hurt to try, can it? read more

Great place to bring your buddy engineer kiddo. We are from Seattle and would love a place like this there. Our 3 yo son loved playing with the duplo Legos table. We played with him too and had fun making a Lego city with him. $8 per kid at open play. We went during the weekday, late morning and there was no one there which made for a really nice experience. Edited previous review. I spoke to the owner who refunded the class that was not cancelled during a snow emergency. My son loves these classes so I was very happy with the owner's response. I do wish there were opportunities for make up classes in these circumstances but I understand space may be an issue. read more

This place rocks! Well ok, if you have kids and/ or love Legos, building blocks, robots and the like - this place rocks!!! Took the kids for open play and had a blast. There was huge tables with tons of bricks to build what ever you wanted. There was a duplo table for youngers and then these funky cool bricks from china, I think, as well. No one was bored on this day trip. The front store has plenty of eye candy and we get emails about classes and camps they put on. We are considering a birthday party for my son next year. Signed up for the free membership which means a month of free drop-in. I don't know if they really charge anyone, I couldn't tell if anyone was tracking how long my kids were playing at the tables, and frankly they're too antsy to conform to such rules. Given how we did shopping for mini-figures I could see them skipping the $8/hour of drop-in play. Also, "drop-in" implied to me "drop-off" which is not the case. Parking kinda sucks but was doable. read more

Fantastic experience. Our Cub Scout pack came in for a 1hr +/- program. The primary instructor Wendy totally rocked it. She and another employee (Adeline? Was also good) handled a group of 10 boys under 10 years old perfectly smoothly, even with some accidental late in the build model breakdowns (boys not holding them tight) plus the myriad interrupting commentary you get from a group of kids this age. Wendy was clear, patient, and able to be heard without a problem over the noise of the kids. I highly recommend this program and am planning to bring my other kids down for some drop-in's and hopefully some classes. read more

Came here for a 7 year olds birthday party. It's great for boys and girls. It's Lego based, which allows children to think, design and problem solve. Definitely a change of pace for a child's party. There were laptops for the children to use, which presented a sort of 3D Modeling type robot for the children to make themselves, based upon the computer design. It was very interactive. You are allowed to bring your own cake and beverages as well. It reminded me of a room full of future engineers. read more

We've been going to The Robot Garage since it opened. It is my son's favorite place to go and he has attended most of the classes, many vacation and summer camp weeks and had his birthday party there. The Robot Garage offers everything - classes for different ages and interests, installation building, themed camps and a caring, helpful staff. It is a wonderful environment for kids and now my 2 year old daughter likes going to build on the Duplo table with her big brother showing her the ropes of building. read more

Our whole family loves Robot Garage! Not only is the building super cool and modern, but the activities and store are even MORE cool! The people who work there are awesome. When our son was 4, he went to several Lego camps there. He learned how to build Lego animals and program his creations to move via a laptop computer. When he was 5, he attended an 8 week class to build a Halloween Village. We had his 6th birthday party there and it was fantastic. The staff handled everything from games to food to gift bags. This place was great! I had a birthday party for my 5 and 8 year old this past weekend, and they had a blast! One of the activities was a bit advanced for my 5 year old, but he loved all of it anyway. One thing I didn't care for was that they do not allocate time for opening presents, so my kids couldn't open the gifts with all of their friends around. But all in all, it was a great experience for them, and that's the most important thing. I would definitely bring them back for other workshops/classes that robot garage offers. read more

All three of our children (ages 11, 9, and 6) utilize their creativity at The Robot Garage. The classes create focus and motivate children to build and create. Robot Garage is crazy fun for everyone, young and old, boys and girls! My husband and I always try to encourage our children to participate in activities that enhance learning. Robot Garage is just the place. Children and parents can either drop in to "build" items on Robot Garage's building block tables, or one can purchased mechanical-theme items from the store. We love this place and the people who own it. We're always encouraging our friends to check it out. I am an urban public school teacher and took my Pre-K (4 year olds) on a field trip to the Robot Garage today. Now I have been on a lot of trips over the past 27 years of teaching and I have to say that the Robot Garage is one of the best experiences I have ever had with a large group of kids. The immediate hands-on activities to familiarize the kids with Legos was awesome. No down time at all, straight to work (play!). Students were given plenty of time to explore before class started in another room already fully set up. The students built a Lego dinosaur then programmed the dinosaur to "eat" from their hand by bobbing its head up and down. Very cool for a 4 year old to do. The staff was exceptionally friendly, caring and PATIENT! Love this place and will definitely return again and again. read more
