The place is located conveniently in the heart of city , level 1 of QVB. Had a high tea there on a Saturday morning with a bunch of my girlfriends . Have to say what shocked me was the service , I have been to quite a few high tea places and this place's service has definitely not as fancy as it looks from the outside. We sat near the cash register so we constantly have to " shout " at each other if we want to get the message through to the person sitting opposite us just because the staff was taking care of other customers or intruding their tea range .... ( if u know u would do that would not you design the sitting a little bit better so minimise the interruption ? Just saying ) I didn't even bother take a picture because i didn't feel i was getting the service that I paid for. But my girlfriend did, as it is attached . From the picture you can tell their he cakes or sandwiches are okay, and they do just taste okay. I seriously cannot remember one thing I had from there was tasty or amazing. The tea was served in this massive pot which is good and convenient so you don't have to ask every 1 minute unlike other high tea places. Overall I didn't like the experience as I had higher expectation for a high tea place as their name suggested. But would be still ok to chill if you are tired from all the shopping :) I would recommend go in and ask for a quieter spot so u can enjoy urself like you are having a high tea rather than feel Like you are eating at the China town night market.( U might get better food at Chinatown tho . just saying )

First time here probably the last too:( (I'm a tourist!) I got the eggs Benedict with bacon and I LOVED it!

Each tea pot and cup appears unique.

I had made a trip to the Queen Victoria Building to see the gorgeous building and to have tea at The Palace Tea room. I travelled in by train from the northwest suburbs to the Town Hall station with a thought that I should be able to find my way to the QVB. Lo and behold- the exit from the train drops you right into the building. There are many shops in the historic building and lots of chances for photos. I finally found the tea room and began perusing the menu. Due to a large brekkie- I only ordered a pot of tea. The vanilla cormoro is a full bodied black decaf tea with heavy vanilla aromas and flavor. It was delicious and I felt in another world with the lovely cup of tea.

    High tea for the hungry!

The best scones I have ever tasted.. Light and fluffy and slightly crispy on the outside. Fresh strawberry jam with fresh whipped smooth cream. These scones were perfect. Fresh club sandwiches and delightful small sweet cakes all perfectly presented on the high tea stand.... One each which was bliss as I did not wish to share any of it. The large grandma pot of earl gray tea was perfectly brewed and thirst quenching. Recommend the high tea for those who have skipped lunch! Service was fast and efficient despite the large number of patrons at 3pm.

Horrible service and not accommodating. I would never recommend this place to anyone. One of the worst dining experience ever.

Located in the popular "The Rocks" tourist area, it is full of charm and staffed by the friendliest folks you'll meet in Sydney. You felt happy just walking by the place. It was full of energy and bustle. We ate there twice, once for breakfast and, since we liked it so much, went back for dinner. Both were outstanding. Service was great. For dinner, I was just in the mood for a simple Burrata Salad and a Spaghetti Bolognaise. Now, the Rocks is not an Italian place, but their versions of these dishes were among the best I've ever had. My partner had the fish and chips, and raved about that too. If you can prepare such simple dishes so beautifully, I can imagine how good the other items on the menu must be. When we left, the woman I imagined to be an owner gave us a wonderful thank you and farewell. THIS is the way to run a small tourist spot!

Inside wasn't bad, the table was big and the chairs comfortable. We were waited on immediately. Servers fly around like dancers, it's actually pretty impressive. Our food arrived in no time. My wife had fish and chips and I had lamb and rosemary pie. She enjoyed her meal. Mine was different than I've had before. It was still ok but I wouldn't order it again. Others would probably like it, it just wasn't for me. We didn't have any dessert but as you walk in the door they have some wonderful looking pies and cakes. Do yourself a favor and save room for one of those. I messed up and didn't try something. This is actually a really cool restaurant that I would like to try again. I wouldn't let one dish that didn't hit my taste buds keep me away.

The restaurant is expertly run by staff who are graceful and possess excellent manners. The French style menu incorporates a fusion of International flavour and has been well received thanks to the restaurant's famous chef. Piano music playing quietly in the background adds to the ambiance, making it an overall enjoyable experience. The restaurant's vibe is warm and relaxing and not overly noisy unlike many restaurants. There's plenty to see at Galileo and the Observatory houses plenty of interesting memorabilia, particularly old posters. The 'attendants' are always at your beck and call, are fast and efficient. It was rather refreshing to have such remarkable service. We arrived 10 minutes late, yet the staff were accommodating and friendly. Customer service is obviously a major priority at Galileo and is nothing short of 5 stars! Galileo is perfect for a special occasion, whether it be an anniversary or birthday. They cater to group bookings and while a little on the pricey side, it is well worth the expenditure. The food is beautifully presented and tastes exceptionally good. Set menus are available for special events. We dined at Galileo as part of the Sydney Food Festival and had a pre organised set menu. All the food was simply divine- I could have inhaled it all! I only wish some vegetables or salad were included with the meal. The wine selection is comforting and with weekly specials available between Tuesday and Thursday, visiting Galileo seems a little more accessible for budget conscious patrons. $60 per person will get you a three course dinner (entree, main and dessert). Galileo is also open for breakfast- something which I am yet to try. Would love to return and sample their breakfast menu. The Observatory Hotel has excellent spa packages- perhaps its time for high tea and a bit of pampering? 2 hour parking is available outside the hotel, otherwise valet parking is an option.

A woman in her 60s came up to order a takeaway coffee from the barista. Over her shoulder, the owner said, "Hey, darlin'." This woman turned to him and said not to call her that. He defensively said, "It's my age. I guarantee you, 99.9% of us would say that." (ironically, she was in the same age category as him) She replied without hesitation: "I'm not offended, it's just not appropriate." and turned back to the counter to await her coffee being made. The owner was standing behind her and went totally silent. YES! I thought. A win for this woman standing up for herself. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS TERRIBLE. As soon as she got her drink and left, he went over to his employee, a young asian guy, and said to him: "If she comes back again, tell her to F*** off." I'm never putting another cent into that man's business, knowing the kind of person he is to other people - including his own customers.
