A fun evening at the palace with a unique event centered around Edgar Allan Poe's stories and paired cocktails. Despite some timing hiccups with getting drinks served in a timely manner, and some sound issues from the actors, we had a good time. The venue itself was perfect for this event, although it would have been nice to have something to eat besides popcorn or candy to go with 4 cocktails! I was encouraged by the number of people who attended. Both shows on Thursday night were just about sold out. When we left at 8:15pm (the show ran 45 minutes long due to aforementioned issues getting drinks served, the line waiting to go in to the second show was around the corner. read more

I had never been here before and it was GORGEOUS. We purchased tickets for Tribute to Taylor Swift string symphony show. It was lit up with candles and absolutely tear-jerking. Even so full of people, Palace Theater was comfortable and I could see the whole show easily. They had options for snacks/beverages/alcohol (similar to movie theater foods) which was fantastic. The Palace Theater is an Eastwood institution. Though the old lady that used to single-handedly run the place is gone, the theater is still great. After her death it was extensively renovated, and it now has an upstairs banquet/special; event area as well as a cafe / sandwich shop on the first floor. The Palace always used to show second-run movies, which was great for kids as you could catch the films either a second time or if you missed them at the mall and not spend a lot of money. The new management still shows some second run movies, but they have diversified into art films, "festivals" where they run several movies of a certain genre for a week or so, etc. This is a great old movie house that shouldn't be missed, and the cafe is great too. read more

I have always had a soft spot for The Palace Theater, which is a classic fixture in Eastwood. I fell in love with it more after its renovation. The movies are second run, but usually pretty good quality. We enjoy sitting up in the balcony in their double-sized seats built for two. Plus, the it doesn't cost you an arm & a leg to go see a film. Neither the ticket prices or concessions are outrageously priced compared to the theaters at the malls. In addition to movies, they also host live music, comedy and other performances. It has also become a popular venue to hold special events. A church even holds services there every Sunday. The banquet room upstairs is absolutely gorgeous and a great venue to host a private party or event. If you find yourself in Eastwood, please visit The Palace. There aren't many independent single screen theaters around anywhere any more, check it out while you can. read more

My first ever brew and view. I appreciate the palace because of its local and old timely flare. However... If I wanted to spend fifteen dollars to drink a beer and watch a woman being gang raped I would have stayed home watched it online and saved the gas, time, and money. It was supposed to be an 80's horror film series. The first film was great. The second....Right. It was a horror alright. It was the most appalling, disturbing selection of a "horror" films I've ever seen. Basically consisted of a twenty minute gang rape scene that was explicitly so vile that we got up and left. I was so enraged I got in my car, started driving away and parked again. Went back inside and demanded my money back. I typically don't do things like that but I think if these things are going to be shown publicly there needs to be at least a trigger warning. I think I spoke with the owners and they passed it off on whomever was the promotor of the film. Fine. Great excuse. Blame someone else for showing graphic, misogynistic pornography in your establishment. Shouldn't you be aware and approving what's being shown? I don't know. I was enraged and highly disappointed. Never again will I give my money or support to these people. read more

We had our work Christmas party here for the 2nd year in a row. We had the upper level room. The atmosphere is very homey, cozy and tastefully decorated for the holidays. The fireplace was warm, the sitting area is cozy with leather couches and a TV. They have a large bar as well with a visible kitchen area. The food was absolutely extraordinary! The wait staff, the cooks, the bartenders are all just wonderful genuine people! I would highly recommend this place for your next get together!! read more

the palace has undergone a huge re-constructive overhaul in the past few years. it used to be an old run down theater for stage productions, then it began showing out of theater movies (for example, i saw lord of the rings there about 4 months after it was in theaters) for like, 3 bucks. then it underwent construction and now puts on music productions for local acts. also, theres a banquet hall room upstairs where some friends of mine recently rented out for new years eve. i wasnt there because i was back in brooklyn, but they said it was awesome and really classy and nice. the palace has really come around read more

A beautiful antique movie theater in the city of Syracuse -- a rarity that is ultimately wasted by not showing movies. There are festivals from time to time, a few local openings, but for the most part the theater sits dark while the owners make their money using the space as an event hall. It's a shame. read more

Attended a film premiere here. Place was packed. Balcony seating a treat.

The lobby is nice and the theater was clean. The person working the lights for the event wasn't doing a good job but it wasn't a bad show.

Love this place but very disappointed that after I left two messages this week regarding concert tix I have yet to get a call back.

I went to the palace theater to attend a class on star trek that was put on by a Syracuse University professor. The theater is great and the concessions were inexpensive and plentiful. They also had free coffee for anyone who wanted it. Also the people working there were very friendly. Will definitely go there again. read more

My work had their Christmas party here and it was fantastic! The building is beautiful and the catering was phenomenal. We had the whole lower level and they even had a movie playing for us in the theater:-) Such a great place for an event. read more

This place was great. Went here for the Syracuse Film festival showing of the Mark of Zorro. The festival did an excellent presentation and kudos to the theatre for hosting the event. The seating, feel and screen size is excellent. The chandeliers in the lobby are great and they sell beer inside. One nicest places I've been to since moving to the area highly recommend. read more

I was in Syracuse for the 35th Cinefest and had an extra day to check out the 25% off sale at Books End on James and see one of the Monday night shows at this venerable old theatre across the street. It is so nice when folks such as this family can keep a single screen operation going, in this era of cookie-cutter multiplexes. They were only charging $5.00 for the movie, granted it was projected as a Blu-ray rather than film, but they have a spacious screen, and the audience vibe added to the enjoyment. read more

Movies at the Palace Theater are a total experience. When you walk through the doors of the theater something special happens. People become civil again. As you wait in line for your tickets, patrons are relaxed and happy, and perfect stangers strike up real conversations with each other! On Saturday nights, the theater offers a wine and beer selection and at the concession, the popcorn is salty and delicious and isn't globbed with that horrible butter sludge that the mall cinemas are known for. The candy selection is terrific and includes Mallow-Cups and other favorites you won't see at the malls! I love looking around at the people in the theater. Last Saturday night, I noticed couple of all ages who seemed to be treating the trip to the theater as a true date night. One elderly couple toasted each other in their seats as they sipped their wine and people around the theater chatted happily. There is not a bad seat in the house, previews are kept to an absolute minimum and the last three movies I saw: Young at Heart, Rachel Getting Married; and Milk were all sensational movies, which reinforced the overall positive feeling I got from the theater. My husband and I always leave there in an especially good mood and typically head to dinner afterward where we marvel over the magic of the Palace Theater. read more

A nice enough establishment with easy accessible parking either in the back or on a side street. My complaint is with the management of the facility! I went to see a comedy show and they had another event that they scheduled right after. They told everybody who went to the first event that they would have to leave early so they could let patrons of the second event in. I've been going to similar events at other venues for years and this has never happened! I paid good money and traveled a total of 2 hours away for this show only to be told that my time would be cut short because they scheduled something else on the same day. This isn't fair for the host of the show or the customers! I understand that they probably made a higher profit by having a costume party and showing Rocky Horror, but it may be in your best interest to try and better plan future events so you don't upset your guests or hosts! read more
