Best swim instructors ever…read more Summary: Exceptional methods and results. Fabulous with highly sensitive and/or very cautious kids. Impeccably reliable/timely. Safety-focused. CPR certified. Built an incredible rapport with my little that makes grown ups work hard to earn her trust. Details: We have a lake and a pool in our backyard but put off lessons due to covid. By the time we finally got my then-3.5yr old in the pool without a puddle jumper, she wanted NOTHING to do with the experience. She's naturally very cautious and not a water baby at heart (didn't even like splash pads or the bath). We reached out to Tamara of Swim Me after reading glowing reviews but had very low expectations for success. She started with lower-risk activities like kicking her feet in the water and chatting. Over the course of several months (our family schedule was wonky), we've worked with two instructors, both of whom have an OT background and they have done an extraordinary job. A few things I specifically valued: they were on time, all the time. They focus on safety and teach it regularly in a fun/relevant way. They encouraged us to leave our pool vacuum in the pool along with anything else that's normally in it. If she, God forbid, falls in, they won't be foreign or hard-to-manage obstacles, she knows how to navigate them easily. Sometimes they even throw in extra things as a curveball just so she can figure them out in a SAFE environment. We went from terrified of a grave outcome if she found herself in water, and from screaming and crying any time she had to get in, to a kid who knows (and follows!) all the pool safety rules. She can land anywhere in the pool (which in 95% of it is over her head) and knows more than one way to get to air and back to dry land. Honestly, I got misty the first time I saw it. It's not just seeing her impressively kick and paddle from one side of the pool to the other (which she can do and brings great joy to us ), but knowing she is equipped for a myriad of scenarios. Now if you were to ask her, she'd just tell you that Ms. Beatrice is super fun and she loves their play time. I can't think of a better scenario: we know she is infinitely safer from a real danger, and she just thinks she has an epic playdate weekly. Bonus: she also loves the splash pads and the bath now which is a secondary win for mom.

Ayesha's energy is so contagious, we are all excited to get to cooking! This cooking class is not your usual cooking class. Instead of partnering with someone to cook each meal, everyone kind of just broke up in to groups and focused on different dishes. It was a bit chaotic but so much fun! Who knew cooking along a group of strangers in a strangers home could be so effortless? Ayesha made everything very easy. I attended the This Is It - Lamb course. We cooked a delicious salad, okra, lamb kebabs and lamb Rogan Josh. Every bite of each dish was out of this world. The food was lighter than Indian cuisine I've had in the past, I noticed she didn't use nearly as much cream as some recipes I've seen. Ayesha also taught us plenty about Indian spices and their multifunctionality. It's too bad that Ayesha lives all the way in Kendall. If she lived closer, I'd be over all of the time! Greta group activity or date night, totally worth it!

Six weeks later, I can finally write this review…read more Woohoo! For those not aware, my latest endeavor was signing up for a six-week pottery course with one of my best friends who also happens to be my work husband. What motivated this endeavor? I am a bored and crazy soul. That, and admittedly, this was on my bucket list for years. You see, my mother used to do ceramics and she would never stop talking about how I needed to try it as well. Turns out that while my mother had talent for pottery, I am abysmal at it. The only real competition I have is my dear friend. We cannot seem to decide whose pottery is worse. Semantics aside, the Ceramic League of Miami can be located in the village of Pinecrest. It essentially is an open-spaced garage full of pottery wheels, bookshelves, and clay galore. They have an area for parking, and on the off chance it's packed, there's plenty of businesses around where you can park. Everything in this area is pretty relaxed. Classes can either be daytime or nighttime Monday through Saturday. We signed up for the 2:30 PM Saturday class for the pottery wheel and soda kiln with James. The signing up process was relatively simple. We did everything online. When we began the class, we were given the option of purchasing a tool set. You needed to bring exact change for this. $14 to be specific. If you didn't get this for whatever reason (usually the school running out of them), you could share with the instructor and/or other students. This is what ended up happening to me. This six-week pottery course cost $155 and it included two and a half hours of instruction every Saturday, as well as what I refer to as that horribly heavy 20+ lb of clay bag. The class is over and I have leftover clay. What the heck am I supposed to do with it? I have clay in places I never thought I would. Cough; I am referencing my box of art supplies in my car. Yes, I can effectively now say I've become an artist. If you become a member of this non-profit organization, the class will cost you $145 instead. Overall, I thought the prices fair for what we did. We received a lot of personal instruction and got to get our hands down and dirty. Unfortunately the movie Ghost sets up unrealistic expectations when it comes to clay. Noting that, if you go in with an open mind, this is a blast; a frustrating blast but a blast nevertheless. I found James to be an efficient and kind instructor. I just wish there had been more organization on his part. We never really got to mark our pieces properly, but oh well. I would probably do this again in the future. For now though, this girl is off to her next venture: aerial yoga!
