The dental staff took good care of me. They sent me home with the right tools that I needed to improve my dental health.

I have been a patient of Dr. J for about 20 years. Previously left a phenomenal review. He is about to retire and another dentist is taking over soon. I was blown away when I was in my appointment getting X-rays done and a very hairy dog was running around. I asked if Dr J was here ( knowing this would never be acceptable) I was informed he works two days a week now. The dog continued to run around off leash. I asked if the other dentist was in the office, the hygienist informed me that this was his dog that his wife brought in after they went to lunch. After the dog continued to run around the patient areas I finally said, no I'm not going to continue with the X-rays and refused to have a dental cleaning in this unhygienic conditions, I informed all of the front office staff as well. I better not even get charged for this ridiculous appointment. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE WHATSOEVER. I have a dog, love her to pieces but there is no flipping way I would ever expect to see a dog running around for 20 minutes during an appointment. Totally unacceptable behavior on the dentist wife and the dentist to allow this unsanitary condition. Go ANYWHERE but here. read more

I live up in flagstaff and honestly it is absolutely worth the drive down to get my teeth worked up here at Squaw Peak Dental!!!! Dr. J is super duper awesome accommodating!!!! He wants to make sure he are comfortable and that what you wish to get done is done accurately and correctly. Overall if you want peace of mind that your smile is perfect and will stay healthy you need to come to Dr. J and come now. Avoid at all costs unless you like incessant text messages, humiliation, and questionable billing. Dr. J will use scare tactics to rake your insurance and bank account. Unnecessary deep cleaning (your insurance will blacklist you), stalker messages, cadaver skin, holding onto overpayments...it's like a bad Discovery ID dental office. read more

On vacation and cracked a tooth in half, they got me in and saw me 30 min later. Staff was fantastic, so nice and helpful. Saw Dr. Khara and he fixed me up within the hour with a temp solution to get me through the rest of our stay. He was great and explained everything and had me out of there in an hour after working me into his schedule. Huge props to this office! Dr. J and Elena (my hygienist) have been my caring for my mouth for about three years now. They, and the staff at Squaw Peak Dental, are hands down my FAVORITE dental team ever! (And I have had more than a few!) Elena is very sweet, and she never hurts me in the least when she cleans my teeth. The equipment they use is very gentle. I also appreciate how she always notes what is going on with my teeth and follows up on every detail each time I visit. Dr. J is the same way, and he even remembers personal things about me which is kind of unbelievable when you think about how many people he must see. He has great chair-side manner, I have always felt at ease when he working on me...and that says a lot for a dentist! The rest of the staff is always very warm, welcoming, and helpful. They kinda make me feel like a rockstar when go there! I have had issues in the past with insurance, and Lisa at the front desk really went above and beyond to help me sort it out. In addition, aesthetically, the office is super nice. It is on the third floor of the building, and is very well kept and decorated. Your dental chair overlooks Squaw Peak Mountain which is relaxing, and they also have flat screens with head phones at each station. Overall the place is impeccable, and they even have complementary toothbrushes in their bathroom! I would highly recommend Dr. J and his fabulous staff to anyone!! Don't be afraid if you haven't been to the dentist in a minute, I referred a close friend to Dr. J who hadn't been to the dentist in 10 years; he made it out alive and well, and is happy he finally went back :) read more

At church today our pastor asked what places do you like to avoid vs the ones that you enjoy. The top negative one was going to dentist. However because we people do not have the ability to regrow teeth as sharks can, it is therefore important to take as much care as possible with our teeth. Because I like to eat whatever I want, I trust Dr. J to take the best care possible of my 74 year old teeth. I emailed the office and they were able to squeeze me in right away and get my crown secured just in time before a dinner event. Briefly, today I had an 11am appointment that went well as usual until checkout when I was provided my balance due. When I explained I was confused about being charged a higher amount than my last visit (despite no X-Rays this time) I was told "we need to look into this further". I was told that there is no way to explain it at this time but the suggested solution was that they would definitely further assess and call me "this afternoon" with an explanation. I accepted that solution despite continuing to be confused why they could not explain how they arrived at the higher amount on the spot. I would not be writing this review had they phoned me as they promised, very disappointing and surprising based on past experiences over the last few years. Needless to say, customers at a minimum need to trust that they are being charged accurately and when honest mistakes occur that we can also rely on timely and accurate communication. Update: Still no communication from Dr. J regarding the attempted overcharge/billing concern yesterday. I informed my insurance company of the issue and they phone Squaw Peak Dental directly. United Healthcare then contacted new back and stated that Squaw Peak Dental employee (Jackie) was not helpful and in fact very rude. I'm left to speculate given that no one at the office chose to communicate back as promised. My speculation leads me to think that perhaps they are charging a virus/sanitation surcharge. Given their lack of explanation and greatly increased price it seems to be related to the virus. Of course, after many years of good service I don't want to believe that is what happened but the silence on this issue speaks volumes and with that I'm moving on to a dental office that will be more transparent and communicative about customer fee's and billing. I live in hope that I will receive additional information so that I can happily update this post again with more positive feedback read more

I arrived in Phoenix at 11 a.m. I was traveling from Ohio for business. At 2 p.m. I fractured a tooth. I googled a dentist and decided to go to Dr. J because he was close. WINNER! They got me in at 4:30 as an emergency patient. Dr. J and a staff member stayed an extra hour to rebuild my tooth. Not only did they put in the time, they were pleasant and kind. And, Dr. J is good with the numbing, I didn't feel the needle giving me the meds. And, I didn't feel any pain during the procedure. My trip was redeemed. I am so grateful and highly recommend the entire office for their awesome attitude and problem solving. I can't say enough good things. read more

My wife and I had several experiences at this dentist that seemed to be motivated by his need to make money rather than our health. Removal of teeth to install implants, veneers all across the top, expensive gum procedures. For several years we felt very uncomfortable and pressured to spend money with the dire warning that our mouths were going to crumble in the near future. The final straw was a call on his emergency line, only to be advised that Friday was his golf day, and Monday was when I could be seen. I guess enough other people got implants to fund 4 day work weeks. Would never, ever recommend this man, or his team, to anyone. Turns out that we both have great teeth and the other dentist confirmed that not only were the procedures he recommended highly profitable, but that typically they also commit the patient to a lifetime of routine maintenance expenses to keep up the implants, veneers, etc. read more

Definitely the most thorough and professional dentist I have ever been to. You can tell Dr. J. has a passion for what he does. Everyone is kind, and makes sure you are as comfortable as possible from temperature to having something to watch on TV during your appointment. They worked with me on getting a lot of dental work done before my wedding in a short period of time, and made sure it was all done to the highest standards. There are beautiful views of Squaw Peak from the office and everything is exceptionally clean and organized. I drive 40 minutes just to go here! As embarassed as I am to say it, I hadnt been to the dentist in an extended amount of time when I finally decided to bite the bullet (no pun intended) and find an expert. Dr. J and his entire staff at Squaw Peak Dental blew me away. From the moment I walked in the door, each knew who I was (even though it was my first time in the office) welcomed me, gave me a detailed tour, and even showed me the back office. The first impression of the office is sophistication, with the interior done very modern and clean, but super comfortable. There is flat screens in the waiting area, along with XBOX and Playstation for the kids (and/or kids at heart), a very clean restroom where you can brush one more time before hearing the cold hard facts, and then a private consultation area where you can discuss new procedures like teeth whitening, mouthguards, etc. My appointment was very thorough, from the digital photography and mapping of my beautiful chompers, to the full diagnostic cleaning and assessment. At the end of the appointment, its time for the judge to rule, and Dr. J reviews all of the previous work done by his friendly staff, and then makes personal recommendations for you to work on until your next visit. The office is conveniently located next door to the Aunt Chiladas and Pointe Squaw Peak Hilton, and is on the 3rd floor of a new office building with great mountain views. I would recommend beyond a shadow of a doubt to friends, family, relatives, enemies, and anyone I can tell, to go to Squaw Peak Dental and see Dr. J! read more
