The staff works like a well oiled machine. The care I received was top notch. I feel completely comfortable, and have tremendous amount of trust. Dr Reid and Dr Silver have an excellent reputation, and I know others she has treated. She fights hard for her patients. The nurses are top notch, very attentive, work great together, always smiling, handle emergencies with quick precision. I've been super impressed. The lack of one star is due to the rest of the hospital. I honestly feel like, when they know I'm being treated my Dr Reid, they jump into action, but if I'm there for some other issue, I always run into weird scheduling issues, delays, failures to call me back. Like I said, I've only experienced that outside of the Cancer and radiation department. But no matter what, I will never go to strong hospital. I know more people who have gone to strong, and left in a body bag, then I know who have gone and walked out. I am absolutely not kidding. RGH, may have some system issues, but their Drs really care. You can see it, and feel it. Their staff tries hard, they are just really busy, and working a ton of hours. But they genuinely care. Unlike other places.

I have nothing but good things to say in respect to the providers. They made me feel well cared for and helped to manage my pain post surgery. The only difficulty I found with my stay was getting a room after surgery. It was very hard to rest and recover when waiting for hours to be taken to a room with an actual bed. The communication regarding this was frustrating, as I kept being told it was going to happen soon with no action. It was no fault of the nurse who was caring for me, as I continued to hear them call for a room to be prepared. Once this was resolved my experience improved. The room was clean and well kept. My room had its own tv and private bathroom. The food was decent and I was happy to have options to choose from if I did not want to eat the scheduled menu item for the day. Parking is paid with hourly rates.

Yesterday I attended a business presentation at Seneca Towers. The presentation was organized by…read moreJessica and Anna who handle social activities and entertainment events at Seneca Towers. They also search for better ways for tenant care. The presentation was led by Ms. Marie Rodriguez, the president of "Happier at Home". It was an interesting event. Marie has been involved in the medical field for many years. She witnessed and experienced the personal care her mother received in her final days. This inspired her to create and form a company that could provide care for the elderly. And by this I mean, "care at home". Home is where the heart is, and by this presentation it was evident that "Happier at Home" goes out of their way to work with their clients. To provide care and help so they can stay within their own homes if having tough times.. In the presentation she went through many of her companies services, and there are many. They do a "free" in-home assessment, approx. 45 minutes. But 1 of many things stood out to me. She made it clear that they go out of their way to keep the same caregiver, medical aide, on the same job for the family, patient. She compares the patients life style, habits to one of her aides backgrounds and training. All of her aides go through a training and certification program. Complete with a background and drug test. Aides, care givers, are taught about fall prevention, senior fraud, prevention, cooking, safety and house keeping. In the home assessment Marie will discuss the basic problem of the patient in need. The health challenge, medication compliance, memory concerns, and transportation. The patients nutritional needs, being isolated, home cleaning and maintenance, medical alert buttons, special phones for the hard of hearing. They offer meal planning and preparation, transportation service, shopping for the patient, house keeping, doing laundry. They also have aides for companionship and mental stimulation. The list goes on! Throughout the presentation Marie answered several questions by tenants one on one. She handed out flyers with information about her companies services and what they offer and how she governs and guides their business. She sponsored a "welcome wagon" with beverages and snacks for tenants and continued to answer questions by tenants. I was pleased that I attended this presentation and impressed with Marie Rodriguez. I think that "Happier at Home" is a well organized business. I wouldn't hesitate to call them!

What do you call a business that provides lousy services? Fired…read more What do you call a business that was fired for their lousy services but sends you emails anyway, begging for your business? RRH Gastroenterology. That's right, folks, RRH Gastroenterology was FIRED back in October 2024 after 1) one of them didn't believe I have a severe fentanyl allergy and administered it anyway, to the point where I lost my vital signs and had to be resuscitated on the table, and 2) another provided an unnecessary procedure that he botched up so badly Medicare took their $7k payment back. Although it's said that time heals all wounds, nine months of it isn't enough to lure me back to their office for the privilege of suffering (and paying for) more of their incompetence, even though that privilege includes a personal after-hours phone call from Jason P. Gutman, MD, who will tell you how wrong you are and then report back to the patient ombudsman that "there's no dealing with her." He's 100% correct -- I don't "deal" with medical providers because I shouldn't have to "make a deal" for state-of-the-art medical care that doesn't risk my life (1) or require payment to an incompetent endoscopist (2) who, if he had read my medical records, would never have shoved a lighted tube down my throat and then wondered how to get where he was going. To those of you seeking GI care, I would say Caveat Emptor! As for Dr. Gutman's pride in the "exceptional service" offered by his staff, I would say Caveat Venditor! And to those "exceptional" doctors and equally "exceptional" nurses at RRH Gastroenterology, I would say "here's the door, and don't let it hit ya where the Good Lord split ya. . .but first TAKE ME OFF YOUR EMAIL LIST!!" I took them off my medical provider list a long time ago, and I hope you do, too -- for your own safety. There are competent doctors out there who are neither ignorant nor arrogant. Be warned, though, you won't find any of them at RRH Gastro.

Absolutely TERRIBLE inpatient nursing care. I was put in a room on a wing where there was a single…read morebathroom for the entire wing. NO SHOWERS -- although there was a SINGLE shower on the floor, it was inaccessible to patients because it was used for storage. Ended up insisting on discharge and going elsewhere for my gallbladder surgery -- where I had a room with adequate sanitary facilities and a fine surgeon who rendered excellent care. But not before I was admitted to the RRH GI unit for a preoperative procedure. God help you if you have the misfortune to be admitted there, because the nurses certainly won't. RRH has a patient relations department, but if you report the horrendous conditions (and the equally horrendous conduct of the two nurses, "Colleen" (the director) will brush off your complaints. So, I directed them to my insurance company, describing the poor environment and documenting the poor nursing care by supplying the written medical record. They didn't brush me off at all -- instead, they refused to pay for the GI procedure and took their money back. Good decision on their part!
