They operate as a fishing arm for a failing furniture store (Avetex Furniture), attempting to generate returns by dumping 30-year-old, unsellable apartment-style furniture into luxury homes under the guise of "staging." We hired Marina to stage our brand-new, $6 million, 3,000 sq. ft. home in San Francisco for a staggering $13,000 quote after she promised upscale, high-end pieces. What actually arrived was beyond shocking: Filthy, Hazardous Items: She brought moldy mattresses that looked like they were retrieved from a garbage disposal (and potentially infested with bed bugs), lots of wrinkled floor mat covered in dust and leaves on our brand-new deck, the mat color and style could not even survive a 1000$ apartment. They brought dirty outdoor furniture with broken legs, and fake plastic plants, which is worse than people threw away on street. It is unbelievable, right? but that s what they brought. Damaged & Outdated Furniture: Cabinet was broken or damaged, did not standing straight, and all sofas, rugs, and decor were filthy, worn out, and completely out of style. She might show you a picture that looks good, but the actual thing is sooo dirty and worn out that make you think what they used that shit for. You could walk down a street in San Francisco and pick up better furniture off the sidewalk. Absurd Professionalism: When we asked for gym equipment for our home gym, she admitted she had none but offered to "borrow her son's." When we asked her to exchange the damaged items, she stood there and told us she didn't have anything better--and suggested that if we wanted higher-quality furniture, we should buy it online at our own expense. She spoke with such total confidence when telling us to buy things ourselves that she made us feel like we were somehow in the wrong, as if we owed her something. It was astounding that she dared to treat a client this way. She kept insisting her furniture cost "a few thousand dollars." She either has never lived a normal life with quality furniture, or her mind is stuck 30 years ago when a few thousand dollars was considered luxurious. It quickly became clear that what she brought was literally the best she had. They don't even own professional moving vehicles or trucks. They moved and transported all the furniture using personal vans and cars because they clearly cannot afford proper equipment. We immediately halted the staging on day two, demanded that all of this trash be removed from our property, and requested a 1/3 refund of our full payment. Which we think is super nice alrd, that we let her kept 8000$ what she should have also given back. As this staging fraud delayed our listing for a month and we missed the October season to put the house on market. Marina and her team have completely disappeared and refused to communicate. It is unbelievable and disgraceful that a business like this is allowed to operate in San Francisco. The owner of the business is poor, has no standard, no integrity, only know how to talk, has never been through anything 'luxury' or understand how it works. We agreed upon a $3,000 deposit as I thought a $4,000 deposit was too high. Luckily for me, my apartment sold off the market weeks before it was to be listed. My realtor contacted Sandra TWO WEEKS before the staging was to be done and she refused to refund all or any part of the $3,000 deposit. The contract did state non-refundable; however, it didn't seem reasonable that she would find it conscionable to keep the whole $3,000 deposit. My expectation was for a reasonable conclusion. Not to mention my realtor uses her often. She gave him no regard either (favor to a frequent client since she works with him often). Very disappointed in how Sandra handled this situation.
