This place is great. We were traversing Kansas and just need a bite to eat and this place more than delivered.

Very disappointed. I was really hoping this place would be great since it's downtown, however, the food is horrible- nothing special goes into their food. I tried a few different items but I actually went to try their wings - definitely some of the worst I've had; they're just frozen and reheated wings. Another disappointment was their Happy Hour - being downtown you'd think they would have a great HH; they offered no food and only 3 different options for a $3 drink during HH. I hope they make some drastic changes. At this point I'd never recommend and I won't be visiting again until some changes are made. read more

We've been on the road for 5 days now road tripping from Utah. We're in town visiting family and they brought us here. WOW! Best food we've eaten in Missouri or Kansas! I've heard the food is good, but I lost my appetite when I checked in at the hostess stand. I won't be giving my money to a restaurant with staff that are so rude and unfriendly. With a hostess acting like that, I can't imagine what the rest of the staff are like. read more

The atmosphere upstairs would have been perfect for a sitting at the bar relaxing, drinking and playing old school arcades... however the loudness from all the yelling due to kids that only hover upstairs even at 9/10pm made it so that my party ended up hanging downstairs where the feeling just wasn't as cool.. we haven't been back since, which is unfortunate since the food is AMAZING!!!! read more

I would not recommend this place. I was excited for a new restaurant and bar downtown, but when you have to wait 20 minutes for a beer when there were only three tables filled, it doesn't leave a good first impression. We gave up waiting for a table for food after 1.25 hours. They would not serve food upstairs. Prices are through the roof. They charged $13 for a "double" shot of scotch that was in reality a single shot. Two beers and two mixed drinks were $30 not including tip. Will have to find a really good reason to return. read more

We called before coming, the man on the phone said that because of the fact it was a holiday, there was plenty of room, no wait and full staff. When coming in the hostess seemed confused when asking to seat all 5 of us together. Eventually, we got a booth. Despite all this, the night started off promising. The bowling alley near the dining area made conversation with friends rather difficult. Service was slow before being asked to place our order. We ordered 3 meals and 2 shakes. While waiting for our food, I went to the restroom, and noticed a waitress hanging out with her boyfriend in the bowling alley area. Soon we received our food. I ordered "1 lbs." of wings - only 6 "wings" came, and one was a fried bone and another was a small hunk of chicken. All the wings were dry despite ordering buffalo wings. Along with the "wing platter," I ordered a basket of fries. Half came cool to the touch and they failed to bring an extra plate that we asked for upon ordering. When asking for the bleu cheese that was in the meal description, the server said he could only bring me shredded cheese in a bowl. Extremely disappointing. Additionally, a member of our party ordered a kids meal, which came much later than the arrival of my food. The kids meal has a drink included, however they failed to provide this. Our waters that we ordered were never refilled and we seldom saw our waiter. Eventually, we asked to see the manager, who was unwelcoming and seemed completely apathetic to the situation. He seemed to doubt our experience, and disappeared in the back never to return. When our waitress returned, all that was taken off the bill was one dollar off of the shakes. This was one of my most unpleasant dining experiences. Save yourself the money and frustration, and eat somewhere else. read more

Came by the Pennant on a Saturday afternoon to grab a couple shakes and play some games with the kids. Service was fast and friendly, shakes were tasty and we all enjoyed playing the variety of arcade games. First time here but we'll definitely be back! read more

Where to start! Okay, there is much to say about The Pennant.. not the least of which is that Topeka desperately needs this place to succeed, for the downtown, and for the overall culture of the city. Having said this, the restaurant is an ambitious concept, and a well executed one. The interior is lovely and intelligently designed. The retro video games are delightful. The food is good, and clearly has the potential to get even better. The staff is polite and well-meaning... but they, overall, had some excusable moments of bumbling, bringing food to the wrong tables, seeming confused by their palm pilot.. but always polite and helpful. I anticipate these wrinkles will get ironed out. In the meantime, I highly recommend you try The Pennant. Its the best thing to come to Topeka in awhile. read more

Fun and tasty place in downtown Topeka. We ordered the BBQ chicken wings (yum!), the mushroom burger (super yum!) and the veggie quinoa-beet burger (good for a veggie burger). The milkshakes are crazy delish!! The cookies & cream shakes comes with a frozen Oreo bar on top. Next time, I'll try "The Dude". Service was prompt and fine. Prices are reasonable. The setting is fun--there's a bowling alley on the main floor, and an arcade upstairs with classic games and pinball. Our kiddo discovered the bliss of Pac Man, Tetris, Asteriods, and pinball. Atmosphere is hipster meets old school. We'll be back. Definitely a positive addition to the downtown Topeka scene. read more

The atmosphere is good, very fun with the arcade and bowling! It's a little loud but not horrible. There aren't a lot of tables so the whole place feels a little crowded. We were told 30 minutes' wait, but it only took about 15 and that went quickly with the arcade games. We both ordered burgers and they came out a little too fast, like they were premade. It was warm but not hot like it had just come off the grill. The boozy milkshakes are good, just the right amount of booze. Our waitress was nice and helpful. Every time I go the food is great the people are so friendly. I enjoy being able to get different local beers. I love the fries. I have not yet gone bowling while I was there but my son and I enjoy playing the arcade games upstairs. I also like the local themed drinks. The shakes are delightful. read more

Without many independent restaurants in downtown, The Pennant was a pleasant surprise & seems pretty popular with the locals. Dining on the lower level provides a much more sedate experience than the upper level, which has the sports bar and arcade. Food selections are creative & varied, but may lack flavor or tend to be a bit greasy. Staff was pleasant, but it is difficult to understand them at times in the noisy environment with their masks. Reasonable prices, quick service & good people watching. read more

Restaurant down stairs on the first level. Decent food options awesome apps. Upstairs is the arcade and bar area. Midwestern mule is a pretty good house cocktail. The price isn't bag ranging from $7-8. There are a bunch of tv's so you will never miss a game. read more

A really nice atmosphere downtown with a plethora of games in the downstairs where adults can take advantage of their child side. The games are mostly old arcade games that anyone over 30 will easily recognize and because it is downtown then I have to give them credit for their attempt to reinvigorate the area. Really cool building design, and the bowling and arcade games are unique for a Topeka restaurant. I wish the arcade part was better organized upstairs. It just seems like they just put in the arcade machines and that's it. Some movie or video game posters on the walls upstairs would be a nice touch. The menu is very interesting, but I've been here a few times and the food has always been totally average. For being a place known for burgers, the burgers are most disappointing part of the menu. Although they have a delicious Thai peanut sauce that is exceptional on anything. Very hip place at night for the younger crowd, so that is refreshing for a business in downtown Topeka. read more

The restaurant has very fun and comfy vibes located near the Capitol Building. Our server Joey was prompt and friendly, along with the rest of the staff. You can go bowling or play other arcade games while you enjoy the delicious food. The portion sizes are generous! It will leave you full and satisfied. I had the salmon filet burger and it was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the sunflower salad with a veggie patty for only $2 more and it comes with the whole patty, which was a delightful surprise! Recently ate at The Pennant for dinner, I really enjoy the atmosphere and I'm glad to have this option downtown! That being said, my only issue is the price for the quality and quantity that they serve, for example I tried the new menu item, the nachos. Went there on my birthday. The drink menu for cocktails was a little disappointing considering it was my 21st and I didn't want a beer. I love the atmosphere of The Pennant and enjoy going there for a fun time out. I will say after four visits I've not been impressed with the food or service. The food is good but I'm also disheartened by the portion sizes. Paying 10 bucks for a sandwich that's small and not getting fries is too much for a family place. It's a great place to go get appetizers and a drink or dessert (because the shakes are amazing and gorgeous!) but I'm still hoping food will improve as I want to love this place so much! read more

The employees are always pleasant and helpful and the food is always delicious. I don't leave a lot of reviews, but I will say that the cubano sandwich is excellent. I have never had a bad experience here and will definitely be back. They are a little pricey but they have a good product, so go enjoy. read more
