Im sure no one can blame me. When you walk into this little restaurant, you are walking up to a counter and ordering your dinner. They have 14 varieties of chips, priced from £2.20 (small chips)up to £4.60 (taco chips with bolognese and cheese). There are four varieties of fish (i got the fresh battered haddock at £3.60) and fries and gravy for £3.40). The fish and chips were delicious. The gravy was bland (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). The serving was extremely generous. This isnt the best fish and chips I ever had, but I would put it easily in the top 3.

Never have we visited Arran without a stop at this essential chippy. LOCATION: Fantastically located just across the road from the Brodick Ferry Terminal. Great positioning to enable a quick fix immediately upon arrival on the island, or as a last spot before leaving the island. FOOD: Full menu includes all the delicious items you would expect from a Scottish chippy. Over the years, the fish has gotten noticeably thinner and batter quantity has grown. This is not ideal, so hopefully the trend won't continue shifting. However, as mentioned earlier, it is the only chippy on the island. Separately, the battered haggis and black pudding is simply fantastic - not a bad word to say about it! Meat is sourced from the local butcher. SERVICE: Hours vary throughout the week & might change over time. Most recently, they have been closed on Tuesdays and usually shut by 8pm on days when they are open. Further, it's possible they may close a few minutes early if business is slow, so plan your visit with plenty of time before scheduled closing, else you might be unlucky. Unfortunately, after a long afternoon hiking Goatfell last summer, we arrived just a few minutes before closing with great anticipation, but found the keeper locking up and riding off on his bike (& not interested in how far we had traveled just for a taste of his fish & chips!). The pizzas were ready in 10 minutes. They have vegan cheese, so you can order any pizza with vegan cheese instead of dairy cheese. We got: -Ortolana pizza (£13.95). This came with cherry tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, and mushrooms. -Vegetarian supreme (£11 + 1.50 for rocket). This came with pepper, mushrooms, corn, and red onion, plus the rocket that we added. The pizzas were very large and filling, with very nice crusts and bases. Not the most amazing flavour-wise, but for a small island pizzeria, this was satisfying. Recommended, especially if you're looking for vegan options on Islay.
