Brooke took the time to talk with me about my hair before shampooing - this is always appreciated! We talked about how I like to style my hair and the products that I like to use. We agreed on a style and cut before going to shampoo. As a first time customer, I was treated to a detox shampoo, which was really great as I use a lot of products in styling, and it was great to get off build up of products. The results are terrific. I am very pleased with my cut and styling, and I'm kicking myself for going into Boston for cuts when Philosophe is practically in my back yard. Last note... the salon is beautiful! From the street, it looks like a ho-hum street front salon. It's not. It is gorgeous inside, and I felt very pampered in the process, which, for me, is part of the experience. Well done, ladies! It was hard to find, but the interactive online map of the mall helped a lot. I finally found it, but the inside looked a little different than I had remembered it. There isn't a little waiting lounge anymore; instead, I was instantly greeted by someone. They asked me for a name/number but we realized I was not in their system. I created an "account" and then she also did my eyebrows. I did not have an appointment, they were able to accommodate a walk in. I like that eyebrows are plucked here, instead of threaded or waxed - seemed like less of a risk to make a big mistake. It did not hurt at all and I was very comfortable throughout it all since its in a reclining chair. After about 10 minutes, the service was complete. I paid $28 at their front desk, and was on my way. It is on the expensive side, but I think for the quality of work, it is worth it. I also find that the hair grows back slower which can be good if you don't want to pay so frequently. The salon was very clean, very quiet which fostered a relaxing environment, and they offer a lot more services.

Unfortunately, the service has gotten progressively worse, and after today, I will not be returning. I called yesterday specifically to book a nail appointment before my flight tomorrow. Alex was unavailable, so I asked if someone else could shape my nails similarly and was told a nail tech by the name of Gigi could. I arrived at 11:10 AM and when I arrived I was asked if I wanted a pedicure. I agreed to add a pedicure. What should have been a routine service took nearly three hours. I asked for acrylic only on the few toenails that were broken/chipped, there were 4 to be exact, as I normally do. Instead, acrylic was applied to all 10 toes without anyone explaining that this was considered a full acrylic service or that I would be charged an additional $75. I also showed a photo of the exact curved French tip I wanted. When the result did not match the photo and I politely asked for it to be corrected, I was told that I "want everything perfect" and that they "can't make my nails perfect." The front desk staff member went on to laugh when he was called over and having side conversations while I was expressing my concerns, which felt extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. After three hours, I was then told they could not do my fingernails and that I would need to come back two hours later or the next day; despite the fact that I specifically booked this appointment because I have a flight tomorrow and needed my fingernails done. I ultimately paid $158.10 for a pedicure, including the additional $75 acrylic charge I did not knowingly request, and left after three hours without my fingernails even being done. I am not expecting "perfection." I expect a professional salon to listen to what I request, communicate additional charges before performing a service, respect scheduled appointments, and treat customers respectfully when they raise a concern. I have continued supporting this salon despite several increasingly disappointing experiences because I liked the way my nails would turn out most of the times, but today was the final straw. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this salon and will not be returning.
